  • They put detroits in anything almoust, it depends on what the customer wants.

  • @willibill1 we are the second owner of this truck

  • Gotta love those old 70's heavy trucks. So ugly, yet so beautiful. Back when trucks did one thing and one thing only: haul heavy shit from point a to point b. They didn't mess around back then! My friend had a '63 Ford F300 (I think) with the 292 V8 and 3 speed. He actually twisted the driveshaft in half hauling a load of concrete. Either that driveshaft was weak, or that truck had gobs of torque. I'm inclined to believe the latter!

  • yea, the mismatched stacks are great

  • Sweet rig! Is that a Detroit Diesel? It's kinda hard to tell without hearing the lopey idle, but I want to say that it is. Were many Fords made with the Detroit? I'd think that with Detroit Diesel being a General Motors company back then, they'd shy away from being used in Ford... Tell me if I'm wrong.

  • @Pigs3differentones i dont know to much history but yeah it s a detroit (8v71) but i thought they would have kept away from general motors. but ths is the original motor.

  • @sledheadchris this is very odd because ford had a contract with cat i drive a truck that looks just like that and it has the 3208 v8 engine.

  • This appears to sound like a 6-71 Detroit Diesel aka the "238."

  • love the miss matched stacks man lol

  • @OLDPETERBILTLOVER haha they work!

  • @OLDPETERBILTLOVER i have seen lots of these some are diffrent sizes

  • @brian93ist hahaha oh god......

  • @sledheadchris i like the 9000 a lot a man down the road has 3 old trucks he use to haul clay with and a old fruehauf frameless aluminum trailer i would say his trucks and trailers are 60-70's he has a gmc general a 9800 ih cabover it has a eagel on the grill let the truck warm up before you give it throtle a lot of these where concrete trucks they would go in the mud good we liked them i like the ford cabovers to very rare and they turn heads even when there ugly

  • You hit 20k x)

  • Louisvilles Dumps Tri axle and 10 wheel were a fav choice all over SE Pennsylvania, Delaware and South jersey up until about 2006 when the just became too difficult an expensive to maintain. Great old Rough ridin rigs they were. Last Ones were made in late 96 early 97.

  • @dls99 yeah it is starting to get expencive but as long as it runs and still lifts the end dump and hauls bales why get rid of it... its still awsome that i can hear it in town( wich is 6-7 miles away)

  • We had them in Australia but nearly all had Cummins 903 V8. Some had GM 6V92 but never saw one with 8V71. Don't see too many around now though.

  • @gm16v149 I've actually gave some right boot to a V903 powered LNT9000 - former interstate truck for a neighbour of ours!

  • Gorgeous truck. I wish I had one.

  • genral motors engine in a loosleybuilt/lousyville ford

i remember ridding in a lnt 9000 when iwas a kid with a 6v detroit in it sounded good but rough as guts cab ride

  • @raidon33 yes. its a rough ride but idc. i love the sound! it is a extreme rough sice it is not air ride at all! but idc its all fun!

  • Heah I`ll let you drive the freightliner classic 475 Cat 18 spd if you let me have a go at your Louisville! I live in Ontario too!

  • with some work an tlc shed be nice

  • Noted engines for the Louisville line that were never cataloged for some of its predecessors:

The Ford/Caterpillar 1100 series V-8s were never marketed for the N-line (6000 and 7000), but were for the LN-6000 and LN-7000.

The Detroit Diesel 8V-71 was never marketed for the former N/NT-850-D and N/NT-950-D but was for the LN/LNT-9000.

The Louisville line had a broader selection of diesels than its predecessors had ever had.

  • my father has a red lt 9000, he hauls can for harvest season and an 94 peterbilt 379, both are great trucks, has anyone seen a cabover clt 9000, im from louisiana

  • Ford heavies superseded by the Louisville line:

LN replaced the N line built from 1963-1969. NT tandems were replaced by LNTs.

L replaced the F-850, 950, 1000 and 1100 series built from the mid 1950s to 1969. The "T" tandem versions were superseded by the Louisville LT series. The diesel "D" versions were replaced by the 9000 series, which this one is.

  • 8V71 (318 H.P.) Detroit

  • right

  • that screamin jimmy sounds nice even though its not in a astro 95

  • 8V71 Detroit?

  • idk but it is a detroit.

  • What do have to say about the fact this one has a General Motors engine in it?

  • what??

  • that is a fact. Detroit diesel at that time was a part of general motors

  • Comment removed

  • @pwarren1010 Detroit diesel is now owned my Mercedes Benz

  • The two cycle engines are made by a different company now.

  • @Righty736 MTU in Germany make them now - and still make genuine 2 Cycle parts!

  • yes it was

  • i will work on it this summer. i have to fix a few things but then i will be hauling shit for the rest of the summer so i will have a driving video then for sure!

  • What motor is it, Cummins???

  • Detroit

  • oh, thats good, those are the best

  • yes its a good wake up alarm in town. hehehe

  • The truck has to be a 70 model or newer. The L model Ford did not come out until 1970. It replaced the N models built from 1963 to 1969.

  • it actually is a 1970

  • I thought it must be. I once had a 71 L 9000 with a 238 Detroit and thirteen speed in it. It was a good truck and I widh I still had it. I currently own a 67 N 950 D

  • That's not a '68. "78 maybe, but definetely NOT '68.

  • highly agreed!

  • yeah even in the winter. charger and eather and crank 3 seconds and she ran

  • man shes a beut!

  • I never realized that ford kept the same look for so long.

  • haha. that is only the front. theres a couple of rust spots but run like new......

  • Sounds sweet for being an old gal, not bad condition either, still road legal?

  • i will work on a driving vidieo the first time i get in the summer. shes a lili to stiff to start in the winter. she is road leagal just neeeds a sticker to show that shes licensed. shes a beut!

  • The first Louisvilles were produced starting August 1969 (as a '70).

  • can she move? you should do a driving video if she does! is it a 6L71?

  • good idea i will work on 1. thax for the idea
