  • omg every viewer sucks SL just have a viewer that is usable!!!!!

  • you could have made this interview on a camping chair

  • So THAT explains "the Rock" issue: 1:51:10 (I crashed and logged back on to see one of the Linden's rock prims on my avatar's pelvis)

  • i'm a junkie & SL in my drug.

  • if your iphone haves a update or your pc , you update it ! so why not update your sl viewer ? its 2012 now ! no longer 2007.... UPDATE !!!

  • Firestorm seems ok so far, a bit slower but I guess we all need to get better computers eventually.

But there are also some things I love about phoenix that we don't have in firestorm yet.

I say yet because I'm sure that we'll get them eventually.

Till then I'd probably stick with phoenix.

Because we NEED our 'mark button' on radar, very specific, I know but for us it is important.

  • This dude is horrible at interviewing, I feel bad for Jessica.

  • @jhe3Vulrik Dude, it aint as much an interview as it's an QA... He is just reading up some questions you people have asked... simple...

  • Honestly why do people have to quit what they enjoy? Half of second life users enjoy v1 because some don't have the best computers and don't have the money to afford parts to make their computer better. I surely hope they get firestorm fix so those who don't have the best computers can enjoy second life. Half of you don't realize if they shut down v1 right now. Half of linden labs profits will decrease. They are trying to work on someone that can help both parties.

  • All I hope is that the Firestorm interface, when it does look like Phoenix is completely optional (doubtful). I have just gone back to the LL V3 release because of the ugly interface. I used to be a big Firestorm fan until this pro Phoenix UI influence got way out of hand. I know a few vocal users prefer the V1 interface but all in many peoples' opinions, any V2/3 interfaces have been better than the V1 interface. And they sure are prettier too.

  • Listening to this I feel SOOO bad for Jessica Lyon & the Devs patiently dealing with repetitive, non-constructive criticism/complaints from those who just sit back and whine about what's given to them free. And they dare say the team & the Firestorm supporters are "Elitists" by slapping the hands that try to help the community improve. As a Firestorm user I support your choices, it's your second life to live, but don't drag the rest of us down or bite the hands that feed you.

  • Ok we will go to the next generation viewer i try to use v2 or firestorme but its crushes all the time and i have one of the best pc's a person can have help me here

  • I've been on SL for over 6 years but I actually like Firestorm with it's V2/V3 interface as well as it's functionality. I happen to think in some ways it's a lot more user friendly and organized than the V1. Sure the new technology may run a little bit slower on older computers but seriously if it comes to that point you're in need of a serious upgrade. SL even at it's recent height of mesh development is still far behind other games. Make room for the new!

  • @MhyjaQuesti Well not everyone have the money to afford that for their PC's. Not the mention the V2 crashes even on good computers. I actually thing the v1 was way better then v2. V2 may be user friendly and able for some to work properly. But most people felt comfortable with V1.

  • FIRESTORM IS A GOOD THING, I HAVE MADE MY VIEWER LOOK LIKE MY PHOENIX V1 VIEWER.

  • @sweetcheek54 how did you do that

  • Now I understand the necessity of the focus on Firestorm. With the GL updates coming down the pike and Mesh needing to come online, v1 is a sinking ship now and while it's still floating, sooner or later it's going to take that final plunge. Hopefully our Firestorm lifeboats doesn't have any leaks when that time comes.

Now all we need is unity between the Firestorm and Phoenix community, bring the Phoenix Viewer users into the fold, and get more eyes on the bugs that need exterminating!

  • @EnsignMinneapolis We already have the newest renderer from upcoming Linden viewer backported, to V1 UI viewer, Singularity. Was easy.

  • 2 hours?

    Nope.

  • can you guys make firestorm have EVERY FEATURE you can reflected in Phoenix, the features of phoniex should be mirrorable in firestorm, ive noted some features deleberatly taken out, such as not being able to see if someone chooses to hide their status to you, i use the ability to see if someone unchecks that to see if their avoiding me/doing something behind my back, changing a feature like this can completely swap around how things work on secondlife, also color text for friends, doin a gj thx

  • I can't thank you enough for your viewer and unfortunately we are are forced by linden lab to the mesh viewer i have second to none pc built for second life every tim ei use the v2 for second life i crush or the newest firestorm can you please try to simplify it and make as user friendly as phoenix 1.6 thx again

  • Pretty sure that "Shining Fixes" was not a project created to fix "mesh related problems", it was the Lab updating the viewer to OpenGL 3 for better performance, and it was merged at some unfinished point causing problems for nVidia's 450/460 graphics cards.

  • theres only one reason WHY i dont like the firestorm viewer i did try it once or twice but firestorm is basicly the same window as the version 2 viewer as for phoenix its completely differant as the two.

  • @ffmanic this had been upgraded

  • AGAIN FUCK PHOENIX ... THEY DNT USE TEXT FOR PEOPLE WHO CANT USE VOICE FOR ANY REASON LIKE ME WHO CANT HEAR... FUCK THEM.. THEY ARE ASSHOLES... THEY WANT VOICE ALL THE FUCKING TIME .... WHEN THEY START USING TEXTS THEN I MIGHHT COME BACK.. FOR NOW, FUCK YOU.

  • I am a very happy user of the Firestorm viewer. Thank you Jessica for trying so hard to keep everyone happy, but some people are angry just because they are angry... and you probably cannot make everyone happy no matter what you try...

  • m'kaay.

  • V1 was going down the only good thing there was was the pie menu, you all know this was going to happen so dont need to try and recover. V1 is just as slow as the military updating their computers which is still XP.be thankful that you have firestorm. Phoenix is becoming less popular with Exodus, Firestorm, and all those other viewers. If people want to quit because the want to complain that their is no v1 viewers they can suck it up and move on and not play sl or use a better viewer.

  • @gardevoirpro As I told Geenzies, it's attitudes like yours that are keeping the divide deep and all bridges burned. Wondering where the elitist remarks come from? It doesn't come from a vacuum. It comes from comments like yours.

  • @gardevoirpro hmm.. All the computers I have on base are Win7 and have been for the past few years.. the only computer I know of that uses XP is a non networked due to a specific CAD program that only runs on it (CNC mill, they dont update OS that often)

  • Kudos to the dev team and Jessica. Please remember that years ago LL announced to demise of Vwr1 to the public. Vwr2 has its problems as does Vwr1 so let's all embrace change for the future. For the experienced people out there, please think back to the mistakes you made when you started inworld in Vwr1. Think back to the frustration. Think back to the learning curve. Think back to the enjoyment felt when you discovered something new. Vwr2 at the moment is a foundation on which the future. Tnx

  • My real question pertains to why are people still using v1 viewers? Why can't you just change to a v2 viewer that's much more efficient than the old one that you're using? It's like switching OS's, you might be comfortable with the one you're using, but there's so many more benefits to changing! Although, the government in the US has trained so many people to not like change and try to hide them behind a vail of ignorance to lead them to act as such. That's my theory at least.

  • Viewer 1 deprecation has been a long time coming. People knew it was coming. People have had more than enough time to transition to newer viewers. Quit complaining and trying to point blame at LL, and get the hell out of the way of progress.

    That, or you know, ragequit.

    kthxbai.

  • @Geenzies You know your attitude is what is causing such resistance towards the eventual transition. We should be uniting the community not dividing it. No wonder the tinfoil-hatters in SL are thinking the Phoenix/Firestorm team are elitists with "ambassadors" like you.

Jump off a short pier with a cement life vest. It'd do everyone a favor trying to fix v2/3 and win people over.

  • @EnsignMinneapolis

Personally, I've tried to get people to try newer V2/V3 based viewers, who use Phoenix, knowing that the majority of V1 based viewers won't work properly in the near future.

There's usually a few different responses that come about, mostly ending with something along the lines of "I'll quit SL if Phoenix stops working". Some people are very set in their ways in this regard. To some, not being able to use Phoenix is simply a deal breaker to the highest degree.

  • @EnsignMinneapolis

In other words, the community has already chosen to divide its self, based upon people's very strong opinions that their viewer of choice is the best viewer ever, and as such, they simply cannot continue on SL without it, and would much rather ragequit as a result. Now, why don't you take your own advice, and hop off the aforementioned pier, with said life vest.

  • @Geenzies make ur Firestorm look like ur phoenix viewer I have

  • nothing like a completely clueless interviewer

  • I enjoyed the part about the rock (lsl bridge) at 1:50:55 xD

  • Is there ANY CHANCE AT ALL that a text transcript of this session will be made available? PLEASE? So many of us do not have sound, do not use it, are foreign language users, or cannot hear it through no fault of our own, and it can be frustrating for those of us denied the ability to participate or at least read what happened after the fact.

  • Excuse me for saying this, and it is not to be rude. When people cry like babies when innovation is being done, then I say get lost! There were many that left SL when the new TOS was done with the adult level of land grades.

There were the same issue in the "Industrial Age." The world excelled due to that age. Now we are in a newer age and we are dealing with a new bunch of cry babies once again. Life will not stop for these individuals.

  • re Mesh: Lets be real honest here. Mesh hasnt got off the ground cos LL made a mess of it in the first place. Users had to go out and hire someone to come in and clean it up. When it comes to clothing mesh I for one would never buy it cos it would distort my shape as it is now. Another bad move from Linden Lab.
