It's an iPod touch with OLED screen not HD screen... and IF somebody is dumb enough to use this as an HD player i know they will discover it' overheats. I predict massive problems if people try to use this as a portable HD player and hook it up to HD monitors via HDMI output etc. The actual ZUNE screen is less resolution than iPod.

Zune can support games (All zunes that have frimware updated have 5 games) and if microsoft connects XNA with the zune marketplace we will see more games coming to it (you could also use XNA to build apps if you want)

It's a great camera. G10 is cool for the extra dials, but I'm holding out for Gx when it will have a larger CMOS sensor for better low light photography, and HD video.

The Zune HD looks pretty fantastic, the UI is amazing, the hardware is incredibly sexy. Style-wise, it makes the iPod Touch look like a piece of garbage.
But Microsoft should smarten up and put a cellular antenna in the thing and make it into a phone so it can compete with iPhone. I really don't understand why they have to screw us all over and refuse to make a Zune phone just so they can maintain product homogeneity with Windows Mobile. WinMo sucks, absolutely terrible phone OS.
Since they acquired Danger, which makes the Sidekick, one would wonder. They need to do something with WinMo phone tho. I love it, but they've been neglecting it. I can only wonder what the battery life will be on this PMP. Let's hope the benchmark results will not be crap like Apple's marketing lies. Still I'll take the Cowon S9's beautiful AMOLED screen and 11 hour battery life of video over Apple and Microsoft's products any day. :)
according to nvidia the battery life last 25 days of playing non stop audio with the screen turned off..thats on a netbook though...so i would guess the battery could last weeks on stand-by..and im sure a couple of days of full use.

The camera might behave like a mobile phone camera, but the picture is too crisp and clear (in a supoosedly poorly lit room) to be anything other than a profressional camera.

I wish I was affiliated with MS, or gdgt. I shot this on a G9, which is a great pocket cam that I use when I'm not shooting a gig. I'm a professional photographer, so I know a *teeny-tiny* bit about tweaking for exposure. The G9 has the controls for that, and it has an image stabilizer that helps when I zoomed up. Also, I was acutely aware of movement while filming. I shoot spy stills like this too, and in dim lighting on the G9.
Just this past Sunday I took photos at the King Tut exhibit, which is prohibited, & they got all these ninja-camo dressed guards. Still got over a dozen shots. I'll even send you a sample if you PM me. Anyways, the gal's voice saying she wants to upgrade her Zune? My wife. The out of focus dude that showed when I panned up? My friend that was running intereference by asking about the 64GB model. You can believe it or not, but I'm actually a bit flattered by your assumption.
this looks rather nice seeing it as a portable player only. maybe if it's received with great sales Microsoft might make a phone version for the people that want camera etc. It looks clean.

i don't see why everyone wants a camera in their mp3 player. i know the iphone has it, but so does every phone made today. if you ask me, adding a camera would just further eat up memory space and battery life (w/camera flash).

It's got IE! HA! The javascript performance in IE8 sucks on a Core 2 Duo, it's guna suck balls on this. And I'm sure Flash will too, or should I say Flash *laughs* Lite.
Core 2 Duo is just a processor...the zune is a embeded device with multiple ARM cpu's thats designed to draw graphics, video ect. The IE on this is obviously not the same on a desktop or windows mobile..but something cooked up especially for multitouch and the zune.
As far as flash goes.. I'm not sure you know what your talking about..but MS will get full flash on their mobile devices before any other device on the market.
Oh lord, you may have misunderstood me a little. The C2D was just a point of reference, I was suggesting the browser would be slow on a mobile CPU because it already performs poorly on a desktop one. Unlike Safari and Mobile Safari, it's highly optimised with a development cycle geared towards speed.
Also, Flash on a mobile device has always seemed a foolish and backwards idea. On the desktop you have a mouse to control Flash, but on this device and any other touch screen you have a finger.

Did you know, that Windows Mobile 5-6 had Flash available for the mobile web browser? It was a light version, but it was still flash. Now, WinMo has a browser like SkyFire, which proxies full Flash - I can watch Hulu. So, all I'm saying is, if anyone was going to have some Flash support in their browser, Microsoft has the best chance of offering it, or their 3rd party.

Also, Windows CE is not fast, I don't know what delusions you're under. The iPhone and iPod Touch have the same graphical engine as OS X in Quartz and Open-GL. The Zune wont be capable of running a stripped down version of Windows and will most likely never see Direct 3D, which was pales in comparison to Apple's desktop rendering engine in performance on legacy hardware and blistering speed on the latest.
The battery on my iPhone lasts a good day and a half without a charge when I'm making regular calls, and if not it seems to stay on for nearly a week at a time. The device will also not have a better "Graphics Core" it will be running some horse shit Microsoft have thrown together at the last minute to run on the hardware. Also, there are like 65,000 apps but whatever if you think there are a million that's cool.
No the zune uses the nvidia tegra apx..which can output HD video to your T.V. Render full 3D augmented reality games..and support open gl 2.0 an complete shader based graphics api...which is lacking on your ipod..I dont mean to make u look foolish or anything..you can use what you want..I'm stating facts.
I wasnt talking fast as in UI..i was talking fast as in loading web pages...in windows it's much faster than safari. I know because I compared the two on the same wifi connection. Windows devices also have double the resolution than ipods...and also can boot android. Your device last as long as they upgrade while 4 year old Windows devices are still around and brought back to life with new roms and a new OS like Android..doesnt look to good for ol' apple.
Safari is the fastest browser. There are published tests all over the web comparing the latest Firefox and IE8 builds with the latest Safari/Webkit builds showing both Firefox and IE8 being constantly beaten on web standards and speed by Safari!
The iPhone has a 480 x 320 pixel resolution at 163 ppi, while the Zune screen is actually smaller at 480 x 272 pixel.
The last bit made no sense, so I shall offer no argument, as you seem to think old hardware is better.
Again... your lack of knowledge of anything shows in your statments...the zune has a slightly skinnier screen, which means better feel in your hands, plus the screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio so wide screen movies will look bigger and better formatted on the zune( without any black bars. even if the screen is skinnier it makes up in these areas...with the illusion the screen is acutally wider in landscape due to higher aspect ratio.
All the less convenient to view webpages on, plus why not make the screen bigger in one direction (width) and do what the iPhone OS does, and let you zoom the video in or out with a tap?
My point was the Zune can watch Videos Full screen even without formatting or "zooming" on the video. therefor, better quality video on the device itself. Plus the form factor makes more sense for a phone too..better feel in your hands, and I'm sure the quality is better two...oppose the china made junk ipod..did you know foxcomm makes the iphone? they make the crappiest motherboards for PC...haha...even a company like ASUS im sure ill come out with a ipod killer soon.
The iPhone's resolution best supports it's number one media source, iTunes and the iTMS. Videos off iTunes are all a standard 640 pixels wide, however they vary in height, meaning that 320 is a good middle ground.16:9 content isn't something regular users have on there computers.
Also, your point of how the device feels to hold is purely subjective, the iPhone has been compared to nearly every phone in production, and it's build quality has always been perceived as fantastic.
Compared the HTC Hero, I've actually heard the iphone feels like junk compared to it. And who wants to hold a near square shaped device to their head ...it just doesnt feel right.
Yeah, well the iPhone has a convex lower body and fits perfectly in my (average sized) hands. It's not square, it's a rectangle, the HTC Hero looks like it's been stepped on.

I always wondered about things that float around the net, and whether they are genuine or not. In this case, I completely know that it's genuine, because I shot it. It's kind of neat really. Someone else accused the same thing later, and I replied because I'm kinda bored at work right now. Maybe check out that post. Also, what makes you think it's fake? Is it my steady hands? The quality of the Canon G9 video? Or you just trolling? :)

I can only wonder what the battery life will be on this PMP. Let's hope the benchmark results will not be crap like Apple's marketing lies. Still I'll take the Cowon S9's beautiful AMOLED screen and 11 hour battery life of video over Apple and Microsoft's products any day. :)

according to nvidia the battery life last 25 days of playing non stop audio with the screen turned off..thats on a netbook though...so i would guess the battery could last weeks on stand-by..and im sure a couple of days of full use.

LOL. Spotted her when she got on stage, swung by after she got off. Bunch of dudes hanging around looked like they were to afraid to talk to her. My wife snapped a shot of us, and I talked to her a bit. I thought she was "okay" on Buzz Out Loud, and didn't think much when she left that podcast. Talking to her tho, she is REALLY COOL. I can have cocktail conversations with her all night, but my wife might not like that. Plus, I doubt I'd be able to do get her to come out for said cocktails. lol

The camera might behave like a mobile phone camera, but the picture is too crisp and clear (in a supoosedly poorly lit room) to be anything other than a profressional camera.
The zune looks beautiful, and is framed by the illuminated table and surounding crowd. This thing is staged...

I wish I was affiliated with MS, or gdgt. I shot this on a G9, which is a great pocket cam that I use when I'm not shooting a gig. I'm a professional photographer, so I know a *teeny-tiny* bit about tweaking for exposure. The G9 has the controls for that, and it has an image stabilizer that helps when I zoomed up. Also, I was acutely aware of movement while filming. I shoot spy stills like this too, and in dim lighting on the G9.

Just this past Sunday I took photos at the King Tut exhibit, which is prohibited, & they got all these ninja-camo dressed guards. Still got over a dozen shots. i don't see why everyone wants a camera in their mp3 player. i know the iphone has it, but so does every phone made today. if you ask me, adding a camera would just further eat up memory space and battery life (w/camera flash).
make it flash capable, mac compatible (so they have the option too), and release the 64GB model soon, and this will be incredible!

i think the camera thing is retarded too. first of all u are more likely to have ur phone than you mp3 player and ur phone has a direct connection to the internet if u want to upload to like facebook or sumthin, not ur ipod touch.

exactly! and i've had to use my phone as my only mp3 player since my last one started malfunctioning, and i never want a phone to be mixed with my media player; too many interferences such as texts and calls. the iphone's camera seems above par and i like that, but to put it on anything but a phone is just ludicrous to me.

If this zune doesnt have flash the next ipod touch which will have a camera will rape it. Im a Zune fan but if microsoft keeps slacking im just gonna get an ipod touch. The Tegra chip can do much more than Hd output so they better put it to good use. PLEASE MICROSOFT ADD FUCKING FLASH

Core 2 Duo is just a processor...the zune is a embeded device with multiple ARM cpu's thats designed to draw graphics, video ect. The IE on this is obviously not the same on a desktop or windows mobile..but something cooked up especially for multitouch and the zune.
As far as flash goes.. I'm not sure you know what your talking about..but MS will get full flash on their mobile devices before any other device on the market.

Oh lord, you may have misunderstood me a little. The C2D was just a point of reference, I was suggesting the browser would be slow on a mobile CPU because it already performs poorly on a desktop one. Unlike Safari and Mobile Safari, it's highly optimised with a development cycle geared towards speed.
Also, Flash on a mobile device has always seemed a foolish and backwards idea. On the desktop you have a mouse to control Flash, but on this device and any other touch screen you have a finger.

Did you know, that Windows Mobile 5-6 had Flash available for the mobile web browser? It was a light version, but it was still flash. Now, WinMo has a browser like SkyFire, which proxies full Flash - I can watch Hulu. So, all I'm saying is, if anyone was going to have some Flash support in their browser, Microsoft has the best chance of offering it, or their 3rd party.
Profits on Zune? Not yet. XBOX? Big time. Hand over fist. Remember, XBOX 1 didn't do too well in the beginning either.

Also, Windows CE is not fast, I don't know what delusions you're under. The iPhone and iPod Touch have the same graphical engine as OS X in Quartz and Open-GL. The Zune wont be capable of running a stripped down version of Windows and will most likely never see Direct 3D, which was pales in comparison to Apple's desktop rendering engine in performance on legacy hardware and blistering speed on the latest.

The battery on my iPhone lasts a good day and a half without a charge when I'm making regular calls, and if not it seems to stay on for nearly a week at a time. The device will also not have a better "Graphics Core" it will be running some horse shit Microsoft have thrown together at the last minute to run on the hardware. Also, there are like 65,000 apps but whatever if you think there are a million that's cool.

No the zune uses the nvidia tegra apx..which can output HD video to your T.V. Render full 3D augmented reality games..and support open gl 2.0 an complete shader based graphics api...which is lacking on your ipod..I dont mean to make u look foolish or anything..you can use what you want..I'm stating facts.

I wasnt talking fast as in UI..i was talking fast as in loading web pages...in windows it's much faster than safari. I know because I compared the two on the same wifi connection. Windows devices also have double the resolution than ipods...and also can boot android. Your device last as long as they upgrade while 4 year old Windows devices are still around and brought back to life with new roms and a new OS like Android..doesnt look to good for ol' apple.

Safari is the fastest browser. There are published tests all over the web comparing the latest Firefox and IE8 builds with the latest Safari/Webkit builds showing both Firefox and IE8 being constantly beaten on web standards and speed by Safari!
The iPhone has a 480 x 320 pixel resolution at 163 ppi, while the Zune screen is actually smaller at 480 x 272 pixel.
The last bit made no sense, so I shall offer no argument, as you seem to think old hardware is better.

Again... your lack of knowledge of anything shows in your statments...the zune has a slightly skinnier screen, which means better feel in your hands, plus the screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio so wide screen movies will look bigger and better formatted on the zune( without any black bars. even if the screen is skinnier it makes up in these areas...with the illusion the screen is acutally wider in landscape due to higher aspect ratio.

My point was the Zune can watch Videos Full screen even without formatting or "zooming" on the video. therefor, better quality video on the device itself. Plus the form factor makes more sense for a phone too..better feel in your hands, and I'm sure the quality is better two...oppose the china made junk ipod..did you know foxcomm makes the iphone? they make the crappiest motherboards for PC...haha...even a company like ASUS im sure ill come out with a ipod killer soon.

The iPhone's resolution best supports it's number one media source, iTunes and the iTMS. Videos off iTunes are all a standard 640 pixels wide, however they vary in height, meaning that 320 is a good middle ground.16:9 content isn't something regular users have on there computers.
Also, your point of how the device feels to hold is purely subjective, the iPhone has been compared to nearly every phone in production, and it's build quality has always been perceived as fantastic.

they need / have the money for big advertising so why dont they do it, make it like the new dsi commericails - the slimest, the sleekest the most portable media player ever offer by zune. with a new oled touch screen you can watch 720p instantly on your zuneHd, now with a built in HD radio you can jamm out anywhere on the radio, browse the web and check updates on the new web browser built for the zuneHD.
