Waterworld isn't bad, but it is just decent because Kevin Costner is the worst actor of any major star and the entire plot, right down to the characters, is a direct rip off Road Warrior. Civilized people live in a defended enclosure surrounded by psychos riding souped up vehicles, the loner in a cool vehicle tries to save them but driven by personal gain, a kid who never speaks, a deformed leader of the bad guys, all dirt no water vs all water no dirt, etc etc

What do The Postman and Waterworld have in common? Kevin Costner. That guy has so many enemies in Hollywood. Studio execs that don't like you, can fuck your movie before it ever comes out. Costner earned such a bad reputation in Hollywood after Dances with Wolves, and I guess we'll never know why.

I liked Platoon and Full Metal Jacket, but Apocalypse Now was just better for me. Same with The Godfather being better than Casino, Goodfellas, and Donnie Brasco. All were good, but Coppola just makes the better movies in my opinion. It's all opinion anyway. Also, I get what they feel about Waterwold, even though I hated it. I love Dune, and people just fucking loathe that movie probably more than Waterworld.

The 1st Matrix wasn't boring cause the story and how they set it up was good. You could tell that the other 2 they made just to make more money. They didn't think them out nearly as well as they did in the 1st one so they added more action which I'm a sucker for but it doesn't blind me from the non action parts of the movies sucking.

Not to say that the movies were perfect, but they are still watchable, especially when compared to other blockbuster films such as Transformers.

The reason for that is because the story just wasn't as interesting as the original because like I said in the 1st post...they didn't have as good of ideas and weren't sure what direction to go with the movies. They just made them for the money unlike the 1st where they had good ideas.

I said I loved the action... some of the best action to this day but I need more than action in a movie to call it a good movie. Like Batman Begins and Dark Knight ya know?

The Dark Knight movies rule. Glad to see Bane is finally gonna be treated properly. Leon (The Professional) is another great one.

@ghede13 Man, the 3rd one got the most flack. It did step up with the story from the 2nd on but that's hard NOT to do. The action wasn't as good as the 2nd though. I totally see why those sequels are considered disappointments by the general public. Same with the Pirates sequels (2 and 3, haven't seen 4 yet).

@ghede13 Because they started using too much cgi for one thing. Some of those fights look like Final Fantasy cut scenes, not like a live action movie. They lost me when Neo and Smith came out of the Matrix and Smith was in a human body and Neo had his Matrix powers in the real world. I thought the second Matrix was a great action film, but by the third one it really fell apart.
