and it shows up darker/more vibrant if you do more drips :) this is so fun to do, and once you get good you can do hearts and designs! also, when it starts chipping it looks cool under crackle and the crackle covers up the chipping ;)

You can also use vaseline instead. A previous viewer shared that tip. But yes one or the other form is necessary.

it's so much easier to apply some vaseline all around the part of the finger you don't want the polish to get on instead of all that tape. It works great

@SweetSwede3 it needs to be room temperature to work the best, and don't put your finger straight in like she does, you need to curl your finger so the whole nail hits the water at once.

@SweetSwede3 warm is a mixture of equivalent amount of both cold and hot water... so I'm guessing it's equal amount of water? That's what I did.
