Amazing song from an amazing band... Why the hell did this song not start off an entire "Synth Metal" firestorm?!! *Reads the rest of the comments* Oh, I guess this song was ahead of it's time.... Now why aren't there any more Metal bands out there that make use of synthesizers?!!
i hear this all the time....underated....before its time, this is my favorite album, tape. CD, MP3, what ever, every song amazes me to this day, the boys from bellevue rock!!!
usually genius is never understood in its own time. I listen o queensryche albums 20 years later and I think i understand them better today than when they came out. Some of the lyrics warning against corruption of the mind and soul through advanced technology, and the manipulation of the corporate government is amazing, How could they have known how accurate it would be today..........great art says I
@cavecandle31 Yeah, I've always appreciated their message, but maybe that's because Take Hold of the Flame was the first song of theirs I really, REALLY listened to. I absolutely love it when a band is more than just the music, and Queensryche has always been the best in my book!
@RycheRageForOrder Yeah, you should'v heard my brother at one point. He said Queensryche was mediocre at best. If mediocre means little in areas at best, then he has little idea how great these guys were, at least for Empire, Rage for Order, OMC, and maybe a couple of other albums as well. I mean, in contrast of most Bassist's, Eddie Jackson is probably one of the best, if not No.1. Michael and Chris were great guitarists. Geoff of course, beastly vocals.
@drmattisinthehouse Yup, the Ryche we're the first progressive metal band and crush Floyd, Dream Theater. & Rush in songwriting, guitarwork, and vocals.
@RycheRageForOrder And to top it off, I think they still hold the record for longest Touring made ever. 18 months I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the Ryche made that record in music history.
@drmattisinthehouse Iron Maiden held the record during the Powerslave tour. Now Arrowsmith's Nine Lives Tour (May 8, 1997 - July 17, 1999) 204 holds the record. Rage For Order is up there with Operation Mindcrime.
@RycheRageForOrder Well Queensryche is still a great band, and I disagree with alot of people who say otherwise. That and because they aren't constructively criticizing Queensryche. Now constructivr criticizm, is a different story though.
@cavecandle31 So far ahead of their time "And we wonder how machines can steal each others dreams from points that are unseen ... it's real" "You will find that your dreams are only program cards ... " a glimpse of the future ... prophetic to say the least.
This is the most original album of the 80s. Hands down.

@cavecandle31 People have no idea how radical Chris DeGarmos' guitar work and songwriting are. Not to mention Geoff Tates' vocals.
