I've always taken "turn to the wall" to mean surrender/death. That's kind of the point of the whole song... Stevie relating herself to a historically strong woman who steadfastly refused to give in.

I have 3 or 4 different versions of this one, and none of them are actually labeled with timeframes, this one actually was labeled as a Fleetwood Mac demo, but ther than that, I'm clueless... and I'm sorry about Fireflies...
