For all the great moves that ronaldinho had he gave the ball up alot more. Messi scores more goals and gives more assists, and doesnt loose the ball as much as Ronaldinho did, even in Ronaldinhos prime. Messi beats more men on the dribble then Ronaldinho did in an average game. Messi completes more passes in a game than Ronaldinho did, although that can be attributed to different styles of playing.

I am 56 years old and I have seen most of what people list as "best players of all time" actually play live. I have watched Maradona, O fenomeno, Ronaldinho, Zidane, and Messi game in game out. And the best out of those 5 that I have seen play is Lionel Messi. If you watch the way lionel plays now at the age of 23, he plays more similar to the way maradona played when he mastered his skill between the ages of 26 and 28. Messi makes the difference single handedly in games, moreso than ronaldinho was ever able to. 2 examples of that are for one the goal that messi scored vs. madrid in the semi finals of the champions league (the game was dead locked for 80 minutes and messi did a one man run past 5 players to win the game) and another example is the game between Argentina and Brazil where messi scored the winning goal in the 90th minute same situation, game was dead even until messi took over.

i think that if messi never played for barcelona he wouldnt be rated as high. ronaldinho started out at gremio and then PSG. yeah i admit messi is good but he doesnt (not saying he cant) but he doesnt do the tricks that ronaldinho did. ronnie could put a decent cross in and take free kicks. messi is more of a player who keeps the ball on the floor. messi plays on the wings, why does he never cross a ball. he just runs into the centre where a player should be playing.

the reason he rarely sends in crosses is because when he played winger he played on the right as a left footed winger and his roll was to cut inside.

@TheAndyroo1998 messi rarely sends in crosses because that isnt barcelonas style of playing, barca keep the ball and play through you tire you out and make you make a mistake, there is no point in them putting in crosses with a front 3 the size of messi villa and pedro, they would never win the ball so instead they keep the ball on the floor and play quicker than you and make you chase the ball around, your defense becomes disorganised and they score

For all the great moves that ronaldinho had he gave the ball up alot more. Messi scores more goals and gives more assists, and doesnt loose the ball as much as Ronaldinho did, even in Ronaldinhos prime. Messi beats more men on the dribble then Ronaldinho did in an average game. Messi completes more passes in a game than Ronaldinho did, although that can be attributed to different styles of playing.

Messi also has more assists, more touches on the ball and loses the ball alot less. A LOT less. And like you said hes a supporting striker and is usually double or even tripple teamed. pretty amazing

@culvacityboy messi isnt used as a striker, villa is the striker, just messi skills everyone and scores, if you watch how deep messi plays you would see he does pretty much the same as ronaldhino just he plays on the right does it more often and still manages to create more assists for the rest of the barca team. no player is ever recognised for how great they actually are until they are no longer playing, you will see when messi retires he will be known as the best player ever

And let me tell you there are almost 0 bad touches. Show me a ronaldinho video that shows his every touch from every game and I will show you the difference between the two players. @Metroduced it strangles me that you say that Messi is more efficient and more technical AND that hes younger. Of course he is, but that is a thing that no one can do anything about, its called life. But Messi will never be the player Ronaldhino has been, there are few players that can do what Ronaldhino could.
If he'd get knocked down, he would jump up and dont care to complain and he allways seems to be in a good mood.

I am 56 years old and I have seen most of what people list as "best players of all time" actually play live. I have watched Maradona, O fenomeno, Ronaldinho, Zidane, and Messi game in game out. And the best out of those 5 that I have seen play is Lionel Messi. If you watch the way lionel plays now at the age of 23, he plays more similar to the way maradona played when he mastered his skill between the ages of 26 and 28. We are blessed to see Messi play. appreciate it

Messi makes the difference single handedly in games, moreso than ronaldinho was ever able to. 2 examples of that are for one the goal that messi scored vs. madrid in the semi finals of the champions league (the game was dead locked for 80 minutes and messi did a one man run past 5 players to win the game) and another example is the game between Argentina and Brazil where messi scored the winning goal in the 90th minute same situation, game was dead even until messi took over.

Messi is far better than Ronaldinho, Ive seen both play, Messi and Maradona dribble and play with effectiveness 100 percent of the time. Messi will surpass Maradona if he keeps his current form. Juse because Messi doesnt have the same flash as Ronaldinho doesnt mean he is worse. You little kids will realize that one day.

Lionel messi, who led scoring in all competitions? Lionel Messi. Del Barsa de Dhiño y al de Messi, creo que el Dhiño tienia mejores individualidades(algunos siguen con mesi), pero el actual es mas colectivo, pero tambien los rivales del Dhiño eran mejor que los actuales, con un R. Seguro Messi, Xavi e Iniesta tienen una foto de Ronaldhiño en la cartera, Dhiño fue su maestro, messi le aprendio el regate a velocidad, Xavi el buen toque y regate en corto, e Iniesta la creatividad y la cadencia, y aun no le llegan a lo que hacia Dhiño por que ademas este era espectacular, Ronaldhiño era estos 3 en 1. En lo personal solo hay un jugador que tubo el nivel de Ronaldhiño pero en otra posicion y era Ronaldo Fenomeno.
