i am so so sorry about Charly i have watched many of your videos and it was clear that he had the potential to go all the way, it must be really hard for you, especially as you're at uni but at least he's in safe hands with your brother, just know that he is a very lucky horse (and very beautiful!) because you are giving him everything he needs for the road ahead most owners would sell their horses not give it the love and care you are, i really hope he is better soon and good luck at uni!! xxx

:( aw, here is what happend to my horse, its similar to yours:

my horse had bad arthiritus in his hocks, he was very stiff and was in soo much pain. He had x-rays etc...he then had 2 injections one was a pain relief and anti flamitry, they other as to loosen his joints. 3 days box rest 5 days walking in hand, then walk and trot in saddle.

i couldnt believe the difference it has made!! we will be able to use him like we used to!

Its sad for the poor little guy but in a way there is a silver lining. For many reasons. One beeing able to find out what it is exactly and getting it treated two beeing able to keep him for good no matter what three getting him happy and comfortable and pain free wich is the most important thing. He can perhaps still be ridden by your brother then wich means you can stay in touch. And hell be there when you get back after uni so good luck and lots of strenght to both of you.

We had to do nerve blocking on one of our ponies, Dutch, because no one knew what was wrong and it ended up in his shoulder but that's not relevant.

For some reason, when I read the problem list, I thought immediately of equine message. That might help with some of the back pain.

I honestly think having the horse and not being able to do anything is worse than the horse being taken away... its like a whole different set of heartbreak. I hope he heals up all nicely and he's 100% after uni.

Aww hun thats such a shame, he is an amazing horse! But I know someone who had the injections for arthritis, just as a last resort to see if they would help at all, and to everyone's surprise they worked wonders on the horse! So chin up, it might all turn out well!

my mums horse had those injections yesterday and another horse at our yard was hopping lame and after he had the injections he has been sound ever since.

our vet says he would give the treatment to shutterfly thats how good it is lol!

I am so sorry to hear what has happened! how old is he?? my 6 year old, Darkness, has a problem similar to arthritis in his sacroilliac joint (lower back) and in his facite joints in the bottom of his neck. It took us 6 months to find out the problem! It is devastating cos he is so young. He has had steroids injected into these areas and my they have helped him! so dont give up! and i am sure you will get him back to his old self again! xxx

He has had the injection in his sacro illiac and we are going to get his neck done on Mon! He feels alot lot looser behind and i hope it will do the same for his neck! once they have had the injection they have to stay in work and warm up nd cool down adequately. we realised something wasnt right cos darkness was short stepping on his left hindleg, was very tight in his back and was rather unlevel in front! he now steps well with his hindleg. Where are you getting him x rayed and tests done?xx

Im so sorry. i love the bareback clip at the start, the one where he jumps the jump with you next to him, and where you're stood on his back - proves how much he trusts and loves you. i wish things had turned out differently, but at least you still have him there :)
