Your health care system, average level of education and average standard of living are among the lowest of industrialized nations(take note of the word 'average' your top 1-10% have incredible access while most are in extreme poverty or worse). Not to mention your crime is far and away the highest due to lack of nearly any semblance of a social structure. Prejudice? no. merely quantifiable reality.

The stock market sent millions of people out of their jobs and onto the streets. Families with only one main income provider - say, the father of two kids and a wife under a roof - was fired from his job to help keep costs for companies down. Now that family is - in layman's terms - fucked. Try getting your stats from something that's before 2008.

@xXGodofTecknoXx yes, you're right your poverty is relative luxury compared to say starving Ethiopians, but if that's the scale you want to only barely tip you should know it matters very little what shambles your people live in which are negligibly superior to mud huts, starving is starving and it feels and IS the same in BOTH places. Just because food exists in your country doesn't mean they have access to it.
