  • GP & The Rumour were my favorite band in the late 70's.

    Love seeing this.

  • When he covers something, it's a completely different song, isn't it? Listen to I Want You Back.

  • i hated this at the time but now i've realised the error of my ways

  • Groovy. I love the Trammps version, but this one has its own thing going on.

  • Spadge321: yes that is a good 1,like a condo in Tallahasse!

  • Search ( the 59ers sounds ) for our recorded version of this classic tune. Thx

  • Elvis Costello and GP had the same blazer on for bout 3 years...fairly sure.

  • you mean like a time share coat,, great idea man ,,

  • check out southside jonny and the ashberry dukes, them and the rumour

played some of the best rock soul? of the 70s

  • @AceWand ...that has always been one of my favorite songs....

  • Just saw a great cover of this song, and believe it or not Heston Blumenthal was playing bass. If its not him, he must have a double. To watch Type Hold back the night 5150

  • Graham parker ! What can I say. Live he is Brilliant.

  • still a great performa catch his shows live

  • Great singer, this doesn't do the band justice but that's probably down to the age of the recording & the technology.

  • just the way you say it!!

  • Graham Parker was one of the reasons I started playing guitar in 1977. Melodic songwriter, great lyrics great singer with lot of soul.

  • couldn't the BBC afford the brass section? is it a musician's union thing even if they're miming to a track? great stuff anyway. love the guy's hair helmet at the end.

  • Graham Parker is quite brilliant and sadly ignored by many

  • sad....but true...a brilliant musician...

  • Teach Furbo, Galway, 1975. Magic gig, but only about 50 there. Me and Eddie................first love.......... blah blah blah

  • I cannot believe that this video does not feature "The Brass Monkeys". Ray, Dick, Chris and the late Irish. Sad.

  • This is one of my favorite Parker tunes and now I found out that he didn't write it! *goes off tho listen to the original*

  • Brinsley Schwarz and Bob Andrews in the band cant be bad

  • Has he ever mentioned Van Morrison as an influence?

  • Absolutely, and I think even The Band at one point.

  • @Jojoseahorse oh yea Van and definitely the Band, played w/ Hudson and Danko on album. Christ he lives in Woodstock so there ya go.

  • Underated band. Should have been much bigger

  • No brass section on this video? Unbelievable!

  • It is not a bad version, but it is nothing compared to the original of the Trammps.

  • this is really good...

  • One of my favorite rock and roll singers - bar none

  • Saw them live in 1975 in Dalymount Park in Dublin, they opened for Thin Lizzy - that day was still my best concert day.

  • Agreed...........I was there too and remember that day very vividly. What an event!

  • @kev6409 were you in the studio audience for this Top of Pops performance in 1977? My name is David Maguire, I'm a researcher for BBC Music TV. I'm trying to trace TOTP audience members from 1977 for a documentary about TOTP 1977. If you were in the studio for this performance please get in touch with me david.maguire@bbc.co.uk. Thanks.

  • Fabulous - thanks for posting this! They didn't have it last time I checked. What a great soulful voice :)
