The slider windows are very unusual for an old look GM. Were the fiberglass seats original to this bus? I've never seen them in anything older than a fishbowl.
I wish they'd do that in Chicago, bringing some of the old CTA Chicago Transit Authority buses back, including the Flixible propanes and CTA Mack buses 7200-7299. This is great in NYC.
New York is a cult city for many people here in my city. Paulistanos in general would like São Paulo would be the same. Though there are some similarities between them, New York has a longest tradition.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. BTW how much costs a ticket for that bus?
how come they don't do this on staten island

2969 is not a TDH 4509. It is a TDH 5101, bilt in 1948-49. These were the first 40 foot GMC Buses.

Yes. Fiberglass seats came out with the 7000 series 5106's. Bus 7144 is representative of that fleet.

AWESOME! FIVE STARS*****

The engine is a Detroit Diesel 6-71N, not a 4-71N. Only the TDH-36xx and TDH-37xx series employed 4-71s.

This is what kills me. These days all you hear about are "low floor buses, low floor buses"! But for decades, people got on these just fine!

Did you make a video of 2969? Love to see it.

Regular NYC fare: $2.25 in coins only. These buses are running middays on weekdays in December 2009.
