A lot of kids at the time must have felt very perplexed if they got hold of one of these! on the surface it looked like a handheld gaming device but you look at the screen and the buttons and thought what the hell is this, and pretty soon its collecting dust
@katakisLives Yeah as perplexed as a guy buying a TV back in the 60s and finding its not in color... At the time the only handheld game was the Game Boy, that was a lot more expensive and only came with Tetris! This game is surely more complex than Tetris!
@KombatGod I picked up a Barcode Battler 2nd hand over ten years ago and I messed around with it for a while them promptly gave up on it! it really had reduced battling to the most abstract conclusion! Tetris was recognisable as a game whereas I had no idea what was going on with the Battler! I'm guessing that having a backround in role playing games with the various attack types and hit points would have helped greatly here, they were selling to the wrong market this was way too hardcore!
im not sure thats a good idea. I LOVE barcode battler, and i think a DS release would just be garbage. Yes it would have great graphics, but i just think somthing would be lost. Gets tirrible visions of retailers selling proprietry cards for £5 a go only to be hacked a week later. Please keep barcode technology open. Use UPC.
i think so too, i want one of those barcode battlers, they are a bit like freaky style pokemon, i love that kind of game
and also the ds is crap(the game henry hatsworth is good, but its the only game you can use the touch screen whith, so the ds is a big piece of crap, the barcode battler rules and i am some kind of god.thats all folks :P
who the hell would want to take at least 2 weeks holiday just to set the thing up to a game. this was made in 1991 so i know it's going back a long time...but for those who picked this over a game boy or a game gear...WOW! that's all i can say, lol. this makes a Game & Watch look awesome. and they began them in 1980! good video dude but i can't really see me trawling through ebay looking for one.
Understand or not, A WHOLE GAMES CONSOLE seemingly devoted to stat battling is, oh wait, IT'S SHIT. Well done for forcing yourself to understand this drivel thou... oh. It sounds like you really enjoyed it tbh.
It wasn't a "games console". At the time this thing came out, it was absolutely normal to buy a cheap handheld devic which played only one game. The Gameboy was very new.
wow, you've just convinced me this is a bigger piece of crap than dr ashens ever did. wow, and that you can't say something funny to save your life. you may have his accent(kinda), but you don't have his mind
A fantastic game! Barcodes work fine! Despite the difference in Power Points, it is possible to beat all enemies. The key to playing was how fast you struck the attack button! Very addictive. I got to the top level after months of enjoyment! Batts. last ages. There's a socket for use off mains that you did not mention... All your difficulties were caused by NOT having the Instructions!? To get the best out of anything you really do need them - especially before slagging it off...
Great! Thank You for that Video response to Dr. Ashen's. At last someone who took time to understand this great game! (see my comment on Dr. Ashen's below/above this) This game was extremely well-made and very durable with high quality.
Now that I know how it works, it actually becomes interesting. If they improved it a bit like give it better sound and graphics, made it less battery intensive, had less impossibly hard monsters, and made the controls more intuitive, I would like to play it.
I remember seeing commercials for a recent product just like this (just better at pretty much everything), but they obviously didn't pick up in popularity like something such as Pokemon.
now that I understand the game , I hate it even more whoever created the barcode battler obviously did not understand the definitions of the words game or fun and they should not be alive for treason to all that is entertaining in the world .
Yeah. Virgin1d4 did a great job of researching this, and figuring the whole thing out, but it does look like even less fun than "playing with a spreadsheet."
I finally managed to get hold of the manuals for the Barcode Battler. However - This splendid video means that I'll never have to bother doing an update, as it answers all the important questions! Thanks, chap. Sorry for inspiring you to spend money on one, though.
aww, but i think you should coz if you dont then i dunno but saying no is never the anserew, to the question, which is "make a sequle"... if that is a question.
I want a video, not a slideshow

This should get made for DS with a reader in the GBA slot. Bottom screen with stats top screen is the fight

There are some nice Barcode Games for DS, like Ryusei no Rockman (Megaman Starforce JP Version) and Mushi King.
But the all use special Barcode Cards.

Dr Ashen is a comedian..it even says comedian on his youtube profile..
He reviews products that are pretty useless..for laughs..and this product is useless.
