@2migell There are 4 pins on the XLR plug, there should be 2 wires coming from the battery, POSTIVE + and NEGATIVE-. Put the 2 wires on to the plug as I indicate in the video.
@2migell My camera has a tape deck on board, so I record to that. I dont think your one does, there are many methods you can use to capture. You can have two batteries running at the same time, as long as they are the same voltage and amp.
@2migell Hi, just get the thickest you can get at a good price. You dont need premium wire, you can use any two way wire, doesnt have to be speaker wire.
@2migell I bought the battery off trademe (this is New Zealands ebay equivalent.) It doesnt matter how the battery looks as long as its 12volt and 7amp (very important as you will sizzle the camera out if you dont go with these specs). Let me know if you need any more help with this.
@2migell I bought the XLR 4 pin plug from a hobby electronic store and soldered the wires to the plug myself. Name of the cables are speaker wire. Any good thick 2 way wire will do the trick. Just dont use frail ones.
@2migell Use heavy duty wire speaker wire. You only need two wires. The name of the plug in 'XLR 4 pin' You will probly have to make it as I have never seen for sale in shop. Just make sure you wire the positive and negative correctly as I point out in the video.
@2migell battery from online auction for around $25. The battery is a common house alarm backup battery, so easy to source. Very important that it is 12 volts 7 amp. Connect it to DC in at rear of camera. Use a 12volt car charger to charge. Doesnt matter about the size of the battery, the bigger it is, the longer it last. The DXC M3a is very similar to the DXC 325 as in this video, but it uses tubes(nice). This system only works with 12 volt cameras such as these cameras,
ur right front BNC from camera showed perfect picture...so beautiful very sensitive to light and careful not 2 much, perfect pic..Found a Hi8 tape at Walmart. rec ..hear heads spin up everything, but play back just black, nothing. needs cleaning only hopefully vid VTR out same just black need alcohol procedure for clean.
The camera is rdesigned for manual use that includes manual white balance, manual Iris, Manual Focus, etc. The auto feature is there but doesnt really work as efficient as our modern tinny camcorders that home users use. Knowing how to set white balance is pretty important for these camera, you worked that out yet?if its been sitting for a while a good clean would definitely be required. Also make sure that the vcr is set right to capture the image. Frnt BNC used for live broadcast capture.
yea, researched black balance and found iris should be total black and camera came right back, very surprised camera picture looks so good just in household lighting, the pic is perfect, that's the effect I was looking for!! Put a tape in I can hear the heads sound fine, rec and playback, but does not display playback?? even vtr out-screen is black but can hear vtr running fine hoping just good cleaning, can you give me pointers on cleaning, special alcohol needed I think??
Yea now I was on a mission really to find a XLR 4 pin and there, right there, was the same battery that you had, for the same price that I would paid online, ..I really looked like I knew what I was talking about when I asked the salesperson for a XLR 4 power connection, he looked, he was so sorry and said they don't have everything they use to, I said no prob..alligator clips work too.. I hope the vid will show up, I have it saved, my girls are also checking the camera out..jabberjaw401@hotmail
okay I'll look at her again, once I power her up I pressed the eject button and nothing, I had to run my finger around the rubber gasket on the tape port and she opened right up, she looks very clean on the inside, next test is locate a Hi 8 tape and see how she does!! I tried to upload a vid of this, it may show up never uploaded anything to youtube before! I loved getting it out everyone kinda stops and looks her presence commands attention and everyone looks...really cool!!
When I bought my one it had a tape jammed in it. So I carefully disable it and clean it. I used cleaning alcohol to clean all the moving parts, heads etc. Now it always runs and opens with out error. Those tapes you buy to do head cleaning is only when you are regularly maintaining the camera. So therefore its always best to do a manual clean. Yes I know what you mean by the camera pulls alot of atention. Everyone thinks your a tv man.
Thank you I broke down and took the old girl to a hometown fix-it shop last Thurs..never heard anything went back and said I need my camera back..went to Radio Shak and found that same battery powered up and looks great, viewfinder pic looks great tried video out rca connections but couldn't get a pic??
There should be 2 video outs. 1 on the the body of the camera and one on the VCR. Try both and let me know the outcome. You will have to get a adapter for the front one.
Great that the picture is looking good. First lets try this.
1- Make it so you can see the image through the view finder
2 - Plug the video out on your VTR to a tv. Does it display a clean image?
RE alcohol - I bought a VHS head cleaning kit that had a bottle of cleaner in it. I threw the tape and used the bottle of alcohol to do the service. WARNING the kits you buy in those cheap Chinese shop are usually not alcohol so smell it before you use it. Should smell staunch and evaporate fast.
On the rear left under the vtr it says video out and has 2 rca connections and a BNC video out. (there is also a small port that says "RFU DC Out" between the rca connects) Those vid outs have not worked, there is a video out on the right side near the front, that has a BNC vid out, and that works perfect, nice clean clear pic from camera head.
The DXC comes apart. The VTR can be removed along with the view finder and lenses. The video out BNC doesnt get the image from the VCR its independent to the body. You need to get a image from the video out on the VTR, as this where the check signal for what is being inputed from the body onto the VTR HI8 tape. Maybe experiment with the switches on the VTR until a image appears through the rear video outs. Once you get going note where the switches are. I will research your VTR later.
I know I told you I wouldn't., but I did it, I cleaned the head with a form swab and Tech Spay head cleaner, everything works now? Rec, Playback, Vid out from vtr, it all looks great, did something, not sure what, so cool!! It's all fully operational and ready for my creative mind, really nice!! Now transfer analog to dig which is the easiest operation of this entire endeavor, my plan is to lean every aspect of this camera and get an updated camera in 1 year, kinda my little way of paying dues!
GREAT! Im pleased that its operating correctly now. The USB DVBT card I use captures the file as MP4. Thats quite a bit of compression there. Traditional capture cards usually allows you to capture the file using more quality such as AVI. I use a USB one that uses MP4 to capture. The result is in that other video I made of the dog.
I've researched these USB video input devices a little, of course I'm really concerned with not losing any quality, do you think a traditional vid capture card is better then one of these quick USB is better, or really no difference? USB would be so nice with no hassle?? Not cutting ties, but can I tell you how much I appreciate your help, thank you so much...hope I'm not driving you crazy!! You have made this happen thank you!!
I use usb as I just happened to have one that I was using it for my tv tuner on my laptop. Capture is good. Down fall I find with the DVBT USB one is its limited to what software can be used to capture. A tradition video capture card would be better for software support and being able to choose bette compression. Im glad to help, I know from personal experience on how limited the support for these type of video camera are. Main thing with these cameras is patients, even when using them.
Ha ha.... we do come from different sides of the Earth I've never seen a cheap Chinese shop. Chinese people own a lot of liquor stores here I bet that's where your alcohol is going..lol I went to the electronics shop and got video/audio head cleaner can with foam swabs, but won't use until you tell me....I think now I want to see a cheap Chinese shop!!
Here in NZ Chinese shops are on every corner, they sell everything, cheap copys of things, clothes etc. Some even do pirated software. If they dont have have it, they usually get it replicated in China. LOL about where the alcohol is going. What you bought sounds good. As long as it smells like alcohol.(not the type you drink) When you clean the heads and clogs etc its a good sign if the foam swabs are real dirty.
Wow, I feel stupid, I really need to learn this thing, I thought it needed an external cable to make the lens control head work, turned on the servo and it works fine, asked some people if they had a cable for it, they are probably think...what the hell is he talkin about, my daughter Mallory is into the whole talent thing, helping me test all aspect of cam, just like a pro, she told me.... I need to give her a 3 count before starting tape, she's 10
A slight hyades just playin around with it, haven't nailed down a capture card, been taping Mallory, she is a show person and always ready to do anything on cam, now getting focused on a plan, she has a lot of talent, not afraid of the cam, have Adobe Premier.. so nice, we were going to Indianapolis Colt play-off game, we were goin to work the crowd, but was raining so didn't want to get old girl out, tax time here so waiting for tax check..lol.. keep lookin for upgrade already!! think she mad?
I know what you mean by getting it out in the rain. You should get a rain cover for your camera, They are pretty neat and keep the camera dry and safe. Good on you for getting out there and doing it thou.
Yes, this was from tape, I got a Dazzle USB, but not really too happy yet, it seems okay, but you have to transfer from VOB file to something else, I know you told me AVI was better quality, but my Adobe Premier wouldn't open, but I may have not converted it right I was using another computer that has issues, I thought when I was by my computer I could use the video BNC and I guess audio out for monitor (it's a mini connection), and record right to hard drive, just to raise quality. I like it!!
No, as a VOB to write straight to DVD, it would be cool, but Adobe Premier doesn't see it so I can't edit, add effects, I got prism converter so just have to play with it, best quality convert to finished product? I downloaded Debut software and it seems to see the Dazzle so maybe I can use that and get away from the automatic DVD file restraints, I have no prob with DVD, but have to polish the vid first, you okay hadn't heard from you, everything okay?? Stupid Super Bowl goin, b over soon!!!
Im not familiar with this card but maybe see if you can change the preferences in the program you use to capture the video with. There could be a option that would let you opt to change the format that it is saving as. If no luck maybe try and capture the video in adobe Premiere. Some times these devices are not tied to using their own software. If not there is a excelant convertor called 'any convertor' theres a free version and it works well. Been living it rough hence y Im hardly on net.
Anyway, playing with vid files, and I want a light for the cam, surprised cost is reasonable, I know these old girls need lots of light, but that's okay nothing to set this beauty off, then an annoying very bright light, yes!, that just seals the pro effect, ha ha..The picture is phenomenal before convert, if I fine tune the convert really gonna get good quality. It is all done in stepping over hurdles, remember you told me, "don't give up", I'm not going to and you have been inspiration!!
Depends what kind of power plug you are talking about. Sounds like wires going to a fan or heater. But black is 110 hot, the red is 110 hot, the white is neutral, and the green is ground. Hope that helped.
okay, well that makes sense and easy enough. It maybe a few days before I'll have time to locate the necessary items, but I will let you know the progress, thank you again.
That's cool. I get about 132 minutes with my Handycam if I don't use the LCD viewer. Usually that's enough, but when I'm at events or just shooting random driving video it would be nice to have more.
