  • Such an incredible band....will always love SSD. Old-school hardcore is the best.

  • I love how it starts off all drum slow and reggaeish.....then the noise hits you in the face and its amazing

    SSD rules

  • The only "Straight Edger" in this band was the bass player. I read an article once about how the vocalist would sit outside on his lawn and smoke a joint before practice. Too bad for all you Straight Edgers out there who are sucking each others cocks over this SSD song. SSD is amazing. Straight Edge kids now days are annoying. If you don't wanna smoke, drink, do drugs, or fuck everyone in sight, good for you. but get the fuck out of my face about it because I don't give a shit what you do.

  • @vSnooki

    What about Al Barile?

  • @Jacarter99 I made it pretty clear, Bubby. Jaime Sciarappa was the only Straight Edger in SSD. Yes, you heard me. Look it up.

  • @vSnooki

Al Barile was who kindof kicked off that who militant attitude within the sXe movement i thought

  • @Jacarter99 You thought wrong, my friend. Look it up.

  • @vSnooki ? I've found multiple biographies that say nothing about only a single straightedge member. And on the sleeve of " the kids will have their say", The "R" in decontrol has an "SXE" right under it. If only one member was straight edge, whyd they advertise it as an all member thing on the back of a record sleeve?

  • STRAIGHT FUCKING EDGE!!

  • @TheCarp89 The music is cool, but the edge part is boring. Oops, I mean BORING! Yay, you don't do anything fun or interesting. Good for you. BTW, most edgers turn at some point in there lives. On that note, I am not a druggie or a drunk. Lates.

  • Download the audio from this video at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • SSD is SO kick ass!

  • HARDCORE!!!

  • fucking hardline wankers

  • This songs so hard, I think I need a cig! ;)

  • love this! being thrashed makes it all mthe better lmao

  • There's no fucking ____ in hardcore? SHUT THE FUCK UP GUYS! Hardcore is what you make of it... that's what PUNK is all about! Punk isn't a fucking uniform!

  • These guys showed me my way to survive in 88.

  • don't you dare to steal my air

  • @JacHel666

    ...I think those were hardliners....

  • Shieet I Listen To Hardcore Punk And Other Shit Like DJ Bl3nd....But Like Its Just Music..If I Like It I'll listen To It.... P.S.-----Chuck Norris Puts The "laughter" in "Slaughter"

  • i just want to be there spilling my can of beer in the po go !

  • "ive been in plenty of scuffles protecting the good name of hardcore music!"

I know what you mean, never give in!!!

    scott k.

  • you guys should hear what deathwish and b9 are producing ,The modern hardcore stuff, based of these bands

  • This shit's fucking Insane.

  • Hardcore at it's finest.

  • in my mind hardcore supports doing what ever the fuck you want.

all you pussies do is bitch about shit.

    go nuts and hve fun.

    this is boston not bullshit.

  • WE ARE THE ANAHEIM HARDCORE SCENE!

  • a legend at work..those were the times..where hardcore was so pure and aggressive..today its all about fashion and being the hardest..u got 2 b hardcore in the heart..not on your shirt..unity!

  • Why does every single fucking punk video have people posting about how they saw band X live in 79,81,83,87 whatever. i mean, no offense but who gives a shit

  • @leakycauldron1 : Maybe because we really saw them live and are happy to share that feeling that we can not find again in these times !!!!

  • @doctorwhonico Okay that's valid. I am in . I saw them somewhere, I can't for the fucking life of me remember where. It was a bit into the "how we rock" phase (which was not a bad album in my opinion, though no Get it Away or anything) but they still did Glue and Boiling Point and shit if I remember correctly. Those hardcore days were great for the bands but too fucking violent and too many pussies-rat packing people five on one and feeling tough about it afterwards

  • @leakycauldron1 :For me also a great period in my life ! Here in Belgium we hadn't that agressive scene. I saw the DVD American Hardcore and the American scene ended really agressive indeed. That's why bands like Minor Threat stopped.

For me now, I still live with a lot of those values nowadays. The real Hardcore scene ended decades ago but ... I STILL ENJOY THE OLDSCHOOL HARDCORE MUSIC !!

  • @doctorwhonico

You might be interested to know that their was a huge resurgence of eighties style hardcore recently and these new kids were starting unbelievable bands. Wasted Time, Government Warning, Nightstick Justice, Deadfall, Set to Explode to name a few. I am a little bit too old now to go the club and do laps in the pit but I heard some of this stuff on myspace and I was blown away that they had recaptured the original spirit after so many years of fake hardcore and jock/hipster B.S.

  • @leakycauldron1 Punk's not dead, Just smart, Smart enough to stay out of the fucking spotlight, Punk will never be fucking dead. Just Underground.

  • @kingxskippy that quotes so old now

  • @leakycauldron1 Yeah.

  • there is a pretty good hardcore scene at my city there are at lot of local shows here

  • SSD's goal was to promote alternatives and provide options, sort of making being straight cool. I think being straight was good for me but it's an individual choice.

Not to complicated. Everyone has to figure it out on their own anyway.

When you are young you'll have choices and now when you get old , you'll have more choices. The goal would be to make more good choices and decisions than bad ones

    Al

  • @xclaimdotcom - Well said Al

  • Mr. Demonfuck

No New York band ever beat the shit out of me or laid a hand on me .

    You are a fool

  • WOW Awesome band!!!! This is the true hardcore.

I think all the videos on Blank TV are all i always wanted ñ.ñ thanks a lot!

    Pretty bands :D

  • Fond memories, I don't think an SxE guy would wear a Meat Men t-shirt but who cares. I was at a few of these shows in '81 at the Channel in Boston most memorable was Springa bringing a real pig's head an throwing down in the pit during "Police Beat"

  • One of the great Hardcore bands of the early 80's. I fuckin' love old school Hardcore...Straight Edge, whatever. Thanks for posting this.

  • this guy's voice always sounded like a monster's screaming.

  • The singer Springa is FAAAR from SxE but he still carries the punk/HC torch......not whining on you boob like some fools

  • You guys should argue more about straight Edge,

who cares, these guys are awesome regardless!

just got some original vinyl from these guys! so good

  • sXe

  • that guitar sound is so raunchy i love it!

  • Straight edge or not. Doesn't matter. What does matter is that you live life the way you want it, but nobody wants to live life as an addict to anything. It's truly pathetic and I know from experience.

  • I guess none of you grew up in the city, as a punk, with parents on drugs, I'm 35, and I'll never forget this feeling, IDIOTS!

  • Doing drugs is fine and all, what people do is their business. But doing drugs to feel cool pisses me off.

  • if drugs dont make you fell cool dont do them

  • a bunch of weenies on here whining about drinking str8 edj and shit ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • i'm gonna smoke a joint and enjoy some SSD the punk scene answer to STRYPER.

  • Comment removed

  • People are dumb when it comes to being straight edge, yes SSD made straight edge eviler, but they started by saying "don't judge us cause we're different, or we'll kick your ass" but now's it's like we'll kick the crap out of you for not being straight edge, I mean Minor Threat weren't even like that, & they started it, & if anyone asks, I'm not straight edge, I just love SS Decontrol!

  • like gg allin said, drink fight and fuck! but wait, straight edge dont drink, dont fuck, only thing left is to fight! music is music, you dig it, he digs it, youre at the show have a good time, fuck what anyone else is doing. mind your business. enjoy the show.

  • That Barille and Sciarappa in the line up?

  • I think when straight edge was made, the people who made it didn't intend to have people who liked their idea to bash people who didn't...I didn't live back then, but thats how I see it...technically I've been straight edge but I don't represent it or something, I've just never started doing any of that shit (all my friends do though!)...but the point is I don't think the people who developed straight edge made it so straight edge kids could jump you for smoking a cig

  • i do drugs all the time, love straightedge and hardcore music, dont care if people do or dont do drugs, and enjoy punk rock. shut the fuck up and listen to the fucking music.

  • drugs destroy your brain. to be stupid isnt punk

  • and straight edge kids really don't care. :D

  • don't say any shit about sxe you stupid.

    straight-edge save the hardcore.

if don't have bands like youth of today, bold, gorilla biscuits and others like this hardcore die.

watch american hardcore movie to see.

clean your mouth before say any shit about sxe you stupid junkie.

  • @fidapeste strait edge kids also going around fighting people because they like to drink or get stoned. i was smoking a cig and got jumped by fucking strait kids fuck those bastards

  • I´m Straight edge and i dont care what people do to them self! but you are fucking your own body for what? nothing?!

  • wastey

  • And that's nice for you.

We straight-edge kids don't give a damn. XD

Though all that is really not good for you. One blunt is the equivalent of 5 cigarettes and alcohol does nothing but raise your insulin levels and make people fat. Just putting it out there.

  • @RaRaBillKaulitz candy it's worse

  • Candy doesn't destroy your lungs and give you cancer, though. I don't really eat candy much, actually.

  • @RaRaBillKaulitz come oooooon... everybody likes candy

  • I like candy. I really do. I just don't eat it much.

  • just putting it out there, but if you dont give a damn, why the hell are you so vocal(not just you dude, but straight edge-ers or whatever in general?) about what WE do?

  • I don't think I'm excessively vocal about it, honestly. I know that there are some straight edge people who are more radical and go about things wrong, but there are people like that in every group of people.

If I see people drinking or smoking, I don't stop them. I don't say anything to them. I might give an eye roll and acknowledge the fact that they are going to have a bitchin' headache in the morning, but I mostly just look out for myself with it.

  • once your dead though will it really have mattered if you smoked, drank, and fucked? no, so might as well enjoy yourself til your worm food

  • That's not the way I feel about it, personally.

  • it matters if you die decades sooner from the abuse your body took. some people live a long time doing that shit but most shave years off. besides all that, smoking, drinking and fucking strangers isn't my kind of fun. don't care if it's others idea of a good time, i don't judge. i'd just like it if idiots stayed away from me. stupid people offend me way more than drug abusers.

  • to me it doesn't really matter when i die. i don't play on living past 35. those things can be fun if your into it. i'm personally not, i like to stay with one person and now i only smoke pot. most of my friends though are into that and i can see why they like it. their not really idoits because of it. they just want to have as much fun and live as hard and fast as they can before they die

  • Well said. I smoke pot, and I experiment with psychedelics every few months, and I like to hold down healthy stable relationships. But I live by the ideals of Live Fast, Die Whenever.

  • hardline hardcore

  • If you look at old hardcore pictures kids are always wearing patches that have a big x with hc across and their town down

     n

    hXc y

  • denotes nothing about sxe as far as I know I could be wrong of course

  • Broken Bones even jumped on the bandwagon and put UKHC, which i thought was cool cuz Broken Bones were one of the greatest to fuse punk n metal, or crossover if you will. I always considered them "hardcore" though. Do you remember when Anthrax became every NYHC band's worst enemy because they rocked the NYHC logo on their jackets?

  • new yorkers shit about discipline

    straight edge = discipline

  • L.A.H.C

Don't forget so cal started hardcore.

  • I swear the x is only there if its straight edge hardcore

i think it looks good, separates the H and the C nicely haha

    wouldn't use it personally though

  • For some reason I don't mind when people sync live footage that you know has to sound like shit with the tracks straight off the record. No problem with it.

  • i really want to slap every kid that says HxC.

like really wtf? why is there an x there? this makes no god damn since.

  • same goes with straght edge

  • well the whole x in straight edge is because when old punk shows would be in bars they would mark the kids under 21 with big x's on there hands.

  • oh... and sorry for misspelling it

  • guys!!! theres no fucken x in hardcore!!!

  • @tomdelongeisabadass theres no v-necks in hardcore

  • @CountTheOdds thank you!

  • @tomdelongeisabadass well said!

don't care what do they say, we got that attitude!!!

  • I love them HxC,I hate them metal shit.....SSD only HxC!!!!

  • its hardcore

    not HxC thats scene bullshit

  • thank you! no one in my fucking town understands that suicide silence is not a hardcore band. i tell them go listen to r.k.l a global threat, dr. know and gang green and they come back to me and tell me that my shit is the poser shit! ive been in plenty of scuffles protecting the good name of hardcore music!

  • Comment removed

  • @rrrickster69

Hardcore never had a good name.

  • @rrrickster69

I fucking love Punk rock, But some of this newer "Hardcore" shit isn't that bad, I fucking hate Mainstream "Hardcore", I've bben going to local shows, and Shit gets Fucking insane. But I agree Sucicide Silence fucking sucks, End of story, these little fucks shit themselves because they think this Screamo shit is badass. Fuck that, These Punk MotherFuckers are more bad ass than any of these little Emo fuckers. I'm tired of seeing Emo kids wearing Psycho 78 Misfits Shirts. Punk>Emo

  • @rrrickster69 man you have no idea how many times a day i go through this shit too.

  • @rrrickster69 They think Bad Brains is poser shit? Holy shit on a stick. Go kick their asses.

  • @rrrickster69 or jerrys kids or void or necros

  • @rrrickster69 Atta boy

  • @rrrickster69 i wouldnt even acknowledge the existance of someone who implies that gang green is "poser" shit.

  • na scene assholes stole it from the real hardcore culture

  • Comment removed

  • Thank You!

    Thank You!

    Thank You!

  • woah, I love this

  • daaaaaaaaaamnnn.

  • i basically meant bands nowadays...

  • numerous bands try to be "tough guy" but basically no one will ever be as touch as ssd

  • black flag is as tough as ssd

  • no.

  • Except the Cro-Mags & some other new york groups beat the shit out them for being dicks in new york, which was before their scene started

  • HARDCORE FOR LIFE

  • Springa has a Meatmen t-shirt on, great!

  • i love this song

  • You got to love them!

  • shut yo fuckin' mouth, this is one of the best hardcore bands!

  • I find it depressing that their lead singer was secretly a pothead, but Al Barile owns.

  • haha what a retard. if your going to be gay and endorse straight edge dont smoke pot.

  • secretly my ass, that dude was a raging cokehead.

  • i read that he smoked pot out on the lawn during there practices. and that he wasnt preaching straight edge in SSD's songs he was just singing what al wrote

  • Their hardline stance was pretty laughable, and UK hardcore rules by the way. This type of bonehead attitude was what brought so many fascist skins into the established scenes. Despite all of that, their music kicked ass.

  • Keep your lefty shit to yourself sharpie!!!!!!

You guys are worse than the boneheads.

You are the neo- guilt- Fasciast.

Protesting peoples freedom of speech !!!!!!

    Fucking thought Nazi's

  • UK hardcore haha

  • this was like one of the first hardline bands

  • Comment removed

  • fuckin lucky ass;)

  • hey i used to go to revere high too al bariles wife teaches there too

  • Wow. I wish I was you!

  • Are you serious!?

  • wow lucky ahhaa O_O..

  • didnt slapshot do a cover of this????

  • they did. before they were slapshot they were negative FX, and ssd and negative fx were both in the boston crew with jerrys kids and some other bands, they would all tour together.

  • I adored early US HC but SSD were a bunch of wankers. They totally missed the point about what being 'straight edge' was all about.Fascist prcks.Everyone knows that Al barile was into amphet and booze anyhoo. How they rocked!!

  • they just came on a little too strong about the whole straight edge thing

  • what the fukkk do you know you fukkking brit?

your so far from the truth its rediculous!

Al was as straight as you could get, Springa was the pot head.

and Springa didnt write the lyrics, Al did. it was Al's band not Springa's. Springa was just a mouth peice that could yell good.

sure SSD was militant about straight edge, but who fukkking cares?

i suggest you stick to your gay british hardcore, cause it will never be as good as what the US made.

  • its spelled fuck.

    grow up.

they were like straight edge nazis where as minor threat and the DC scene didnt give a damn if you drank, but they werent going to.

  • dont go see them.. its not them. its just springa with some new losers.

  • goddamn punk isn't like it used to be

  • They are in Amsterdam next Sunday!

  • "They" are not in Amsterdam - just springa pretending to be the band...

  • tis a shame all these hardcore bands can't put their differences aside and show the kids of today how its done.

  • Springa...where are ya? Anyone, heard he was in Chi-town, as a thespian...

  • yesssss

  • Used to sharpie SSD on the skateboard!

  • first 2 albums=hardcore landmarks

  • Nirvana took lessons from these boys
