absolutely wonderful renditions of these two beautiful songs! great on the album but I have to say that these versions trump the LP version. cocteau twins, anything liz fraser touches, this mortal coil, all of her collaborations & guthrie & budd, etc. have spoken for my life since the mid 80's. there is no other except maybe in heaven...
i remember seeing the videos for these 2 songs a year or two after milk&kisses broke ... then when i managed to lay my hands on the vinyl the album mixes were way more cluttered ... i much prefer these versions ... the visuals also ... such a band
I think Cocteau Twins should have composed music for an animation movie but not some obnoxious kids movie.
When ever I listen to their ethereal work, I can't help think that their music should be used for something that goes beyond the confines of live-action cinema (such as the sequel to Donnie Darko).
the singing makes me choke thinking about true love girlfriend that I had stud or no stud this will make your eyes tear up like a river runs through it. tsk.
ONCE again I forgot about this music and the opening music that really captured me BIG time.. it's like.. " whoa ",.. take a step back take a look..the first part is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO crazy to me....3 people..(2 playing)...I know it's a guitar but it's a mood shaper for sure..
Cocteaw Twins en los albores de mis primeros pensamientos, parecen perseguirme aún ahora que parecían tan lejos, ellos...ambos....Gracias Masquerade....Un beso en lo más profundo de tu alma...
i have the rare Rilkean Heart EP...lurve it...and thanks for these videos!
keep them coming!

Beautiful. :)
Buuuut I prefer Faye Wong's version. Believe me Faye's voice is more ethereal than Elizabeth's (if that's possible).

@mcrazza No contest. Faye owes everything to Liz.

...I find the first piece of music so beautiful. Was it ever recorded on its own and does it have a title?.

One family of liz songs for me. best ballads. true, profound emotion and reflexion at the same time, one serving the other.

At around 7.40 she appears to become very emotional. She bites her lip, she swallows some sadness and blinks away a tear.

The most unique band I've ever heard......

I concur.
This band broke the barriers of sheer melodicism.
It's a shame they never achieved much commercial success.

It is not surprising, though

This is easily one of the saddest things I've ever seen/heard. Such beautiful and profound things coming from real life experience.
It breaks my heart.

You can tell that this is preceding their breakup.
She is visibly and audibly sad.
