  • Great 70's series. Saw Peter Firth interviewed a few years back said he didn't remember much about the show. Apart from Equess he hasn't bettered it.

  • i saw to them from venezuela sud america, traducted off coursse, exepption this theme intro la la laa

  • Peter Firth, now on 'Spooks'....gorgeous...

  • I loved this; I remember having to rush home from a walk in the country because we had to be back in time for the Double Deckers (1970s: no video recorders then!) The whole series has recently been issued on DVD (had it for Christmas) and it contains a recent interview with Brinsley Forde (Spring) and Michael Audreson (Brains).

  • the double deckers -the world was their oyster

  • I never missed the Double deckers as i had a crush on Tiger Debbie at the time

come on i was only about 10 ......LOL

  • This really takes me back. Never missed it. I've been getting a bit nostalgic looking at all the things i watched when i was a kid. Classic stuff.

  • Peter Firth went on to fight space vampires with Steve Railsback in Lifeforce.

  • I have looked for and tried to remember this show for years!!!! It must be about 40 years since I watched this show as a kid!!fantastic!! Seem to remember it came on sunday morning but that can't be right can it?

  • I'm grinning like a loon, why aren't there more views! The seventies seem like an innocent time compared to now. Said with rose tinted specs off :-)

  • One went on to molest horses. Another went on to form Aswad.

  • when kids had a great time no bloody health and safety great days

  • This is saturday morning kids tv at it's best..you'll never get this from"The New Kids On The Block"or "Menudo".

  • This is saturday morning kids tv at it's best..you'll never get this from"The New Kids On The Block"or "memudo".

  • hate to think how many years ago i watched this!!

  • Gotta love that Tiger wink!!

  • remember this one jeff

  • 1:09 look at that fat bastard

  • A couple of them went on to long acting careers.

  • LOL WHERE ARE THESE KIDS NOW?

  • @TimBec2

Peter Firth plays Harry Pearce in Spooks

  • @143AC: The only one I know about is Brinsley Forde, who played Spring. He ended up as the lead singer of Aswad, and pops up on BBC 6Music as a DJ. No kidding.

  • @sp3ccylad Doughnut is a semi retired historian or something these days (I sort of know him in real life though not spoken to him in ages) and yes, he's still generously proportioned.

  • I wonder whatever happened to the kids..who starred on"Here Come The Double Deckers"?

  • Laugh if you want but I thought Peter Firth was the coolest kid in the world .

  • memories...im 47 now and i remember this like it was 5yr ago

  • im 45 now,and there were never enough hours in the day for me,me and my pals built huts, cycled further than we should, and had great fun,now when its 29 degrees celcius you have a hood up and worship your nearest bus shelter, why do you need a baseball cap and a hood up with a scarf on a hot summer day? todays kids are weird

  • Fantastic memories for a lot of people in their forties - much happier days than the kids have now i reckon!!!

  • Me nerves were too short for me body.

  • OMG!!! Down memory lane 4 me 2 happier times!!! Thanks 4 uploading!!! :)

  • cool...simplemente cool..la laaa, la laaa, la la la la la la, laaa, la la la la la laaaaaa...get on board excellent intro...thans to harry booth, melvin hayes, jhonny harteys...well .

  • Yes Encore agree-Brill memories-great music! As kids we were happy back then watching this kind of show!

  • Looks crap. Peter Firth was the only one to have a great career.

  • @JuanMacready what do you mean, every fat bastard from 1970 onward is down to that little fat fucker Doughnut - the guys a legend, thanks to him we've been able to insult fatties ever since

  • I'm saying this series looks like a dated piece of crap, just like On the Buses.

  • @JuanMacready whatever you think now -it will look like a pile of dated crap in 40 years time.

  • @JuanMacready get a life ass hole kids loved it go back to your nintendo dip shite

  • One thing about kids TV shows back then, they were so upbeat and happy.......brilliant stuff.

    Took me right back.

  • FAB!

  • Peter Firth...after this he blinded horses in Equus, staked space vampires in LifeForce, and became head of MI5 in Spooks. Meanwhile, Brinsley Forde became the drummer for Aswad...

  • peter firth hahaha

  • @Ganbareg I used to really fancy him when i was a kid! lol...spooky???

  • :) anyone know what happened to our young british actors in the series?

  • I think peter Firth ..the handsome one(when he was young) is in british tv programme "spooks"..the last i ever saw of bobby(dark haired eenage girl) was in the 1970's again..as a cornish woman in a series called Poldark..never saw any since?

  • happy saturday mornings! love this prog and always remembered the song..was amazed to get it again! TY!

  • ....so who says white men can't dance eh? Or become head of MI5.

  • LOL!!!

  • always loved this - at least this Double Deckers YouTube clip doesn't go on about "Saturday Morning Pictures" - why would you bother to see it there when it was made for telly and on telly more or less non-stop (often on Saturday mornings!) from when it was first made...?

  • Who was the genius who came up with the idea of calling the fat kid Doughnut?!

  • @marsamgod

LOL. It was political correctness gone mad! ,-)

  • @marsamgod Probably Harry Booth and Roy Simpson

  • politically INcorrect today???lol

  • I had such a crush on Billie when i was a kid thanks for putting this up.

  • OMG.. I remember this on a Saturday morning as a kid... Brill !! :)

  • I still have the soundtrack LP record from this great show!!!

  • Ha ha! Anyone who wants to keep their innocent memories of this show intact, don't watch "EQUUS" (1977) which features Peter Firth (Scooper) naked, bloodstained, and mutilating horses! (although it is worth watching to see the elfin-like Jennifer Agutter in full frontal nudity while she copulates with Firth!)

  • oooooo er!

  • bring it back please :) use to love watching this so many memories come flooding back :)

  • Timeless!!!!

  • Not sure this was a Saturday morning show - I have a vague recollection it was tea-time fare in midweek?

  • Saturday morning - originally along with 'The Banana Splits'!

  • I was alittle young for this show, I just caught the end of the showings in the early 1970's. So over 10 years ago when the internet really hit, I did alot of detective work to see if a "Double Decker" show really existed, and I finally seen a title listing on a nostalgia site....now you can actually watch the show right here!

  • oh gosh nearly forgot about this one..wonder where they all are now

  • Used to LOVE it back in the day!

  • Oh that the days of saturday morning that are timeless classic for this Birmingham kid from handsworths UK, thank you thank you o so very much youtube deliving goods as alway!!!!!

  • I only vaguely remember seeing this on ABC television here in Australia nearly 30 years ago when I was very small. I'm glad to have found it again on here. The theme song is really good, too.

  • wow the character (scooper) who is the actor peter firth was in the film hunt for red october, with sean connery!

  • Yeah, and Firth was also in the space vampire movie "Life Force" in the 80's.

  • This is why every fat kid at school in the seventies was called doughnut....................

  • @RICKD790 this was around and made in the late sixties

  • @RICKD790 yeah i had one in my school

  • Was my favorite kids program

  • Carefully put together - gender balanced, one of New Commonwealth origin, a fatso...and a yank to boot.

How the world has changed. No tattoos piercing back then, no 10-year olds dressed like Moldavian hookers, and now everyone is the size of donut waddling around Asda on a Sunday.

Having said that I wouldn't go back to 1970 for anything...

  • always great to see this thanks!

  • I was under the impression that this show was a fly on the wall style program, and that all London kids lived like this in the early 70's. I thought that the camera crew just turned up each week and filmed whatever the kids were doing that day. Drat!

  • hahah, that is so funny.xx

  • Of course it was totally unrealistic. If they really had been a gang of London kids, the fat kid would have been beaten up along with the upper class geeky one with the tie, and the others would have ganged up on Mr.Aswad for being black. But still..."Get on board...get on board...and do some really shit dancing"

Oh how we laughed. Until we stopped.

  • hA!

i am laffin so hard readin ur stuff......))

  • Wow! those little wankers sure had an elaborate clubhouse with all kinds of uniquely engineered gadgets. Where the hell did they get the money for this? Maybe Brains and Springt were selling narcotics.

  • Brains played Young Winston (1972) Winston Churchill (Age 13), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1969), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) (uncredited) .... Peter :O))

  • My god doughnut has got some fucked up rhythm going on there lol

  • them wree the days banana splits and these shows sept 1970 no soft porn vids and no talk shows.swearing.

    am i ols wise.

    terry

  • What's wrong with you people

this was a childrends show stop talking about lesbians!

  • We loved this show as kids in the USA.

  • Comment removed

  • was billie a young lesbian, i bet she grew to be one

  • I think you missed the clue. She made a guest appearance in an episode. A couple of decades later, she blazed a trail as Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. It was the one and only Jane Seymour (nee Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg).

  • Every school had it's Doughnut. Today the schools are full of them.

Music was great in the 70's.

  • GREAT STUFF i loved it as a kid im sure itc/atv had some input into the programme LOVE IT!!!!

  • I LOVED this as a kid. Groovy!

  • And on the eighth day I sat down, mopped my brow, made a strong cup of tea and ate a corned beef sandwich. Tis true!

  • Oh how I hated this or did I love it? Its such a long time ago....The only thing I am sure of is that I watched it. I must have loved it as it is so cool now.

  • Did anyone catch the credits..Glyn Johns was script editor? Wow!

  • Spring was in Reggae band Aswad. Scooper manages a Youth Hostel in the Brecon Beacons. Billie is publicist for Heaven 17. Brains works in Debenhams in Truro. Doughnut owns a Drum and Bass club in Maesteg, South Wales. Sticks had a sex change and now lives in Toronto. Tiger is a quantity surveyor.

  • Scooper does not manage a youth hostel !!! He's too busy playing Harry Pearce in Spooks.

  • LOL you have a funny sense of humor.

  • Wow...remember watching this on Sunday mornings whilst visiting relatives in Oklahoma. Thanks so much for the memories!

  • What memories!! Billie was the most beautiful thing I'd seen in my then eight years of life....

  • I remeber it well but was too young to realise what a motley crew of stereotypical kids they were.

Be interesting to see how the programme would be made today, particularly if it were made by the BBC.

Wasn't it set in London? There'd be a token whitey rather than just one black lad and if he were male he certainly wouldn't be the brainy one.

There'd be more girls than boys and the girls would all be in charge.

No fat ones please, at least not called doughnut. How demeaning!

  • i was so little but i still remember it. Thrilling and so emotional

  • LOL! Awesome, classic stuff and full of fun childhood memories from those great 6 weeks school hols :) Thanks for finding and uploading such a gem !!

  • This song is REALLY catchy!

  • remember it well

    such happy days

  • Oh, I was six when this was first shown...such wonderful memories...

  • SO great to hear this again. Used to think they were so lucky living on a bus!

  • Fabulous!

Peter firth si a super star actor now no one in the US knows who he is! LOL

  • DIdn't he play in Equus the movie?

  • Yeah. Did a knobbing scene with Jenny Agutter - jammy twat!

  • He played in a PBS verison of Equus here is the USA long while ago..I recognized him right away.

  • Brinsley's telling porkies!!!!

  • Brilliant! I was 10 again for a couple of minutes. Oh, and and how fantastic is that theme song/music

  • Those kids are just too happy to be trusted.

Art Director: Peggy Gick... says it all really.

  • I used to watch this as a kid. I liked any shows where the kids were on their own with no parents.

  • I met Brinsley Forde in 1986 at Heathrow airport when he was touring with Aswad - I asked him about the Double Deckers and he said "Nah, mate, that was my brother, not me". Wonder if he'd still deny being in the show, now that everything is post modern and it's cool again?

  • Funny story.

  • Take Me Back There PlEEEEEEEEEEEEase!

  • Brilliant, just brilliant. I love it..

  • Why.

  • hahahahahahaha.

    1:32

  • I used to look like Brains, it was my mums fault, make me wear fucking national health glasses......

  • my fave show when i was kid!

  • Brinsley Forde is (or was) the lead singer of british reggae group Aswad

  • and peter firth is "Harry " in spooks

  • Well done for spotting Peter Firth. I never realised it was the same person. Gillian Bailey was my first love!!

  • WOW! Now this takes me back!

I 'loved' this show when I was ickle!

My younger sister can't remember this, can't wait to remind her! x

  • sooty ended up as crack addict and the kids were touched from junior show time with bobby bennett

  • Thank God for You Tube and technology..great to be able to recapture so many childhood memories:o)

  • I think doughnut's eating a Piltdown glory.

    Eh, Tony Hancock fans?
