On the radio program Coast to Coast last night, they had a 4-hour program dedicated to some suspected serial killer(s) doing people in on the long and lonely stretches of Nevada's I-80. A family member of an 86-year-old man that mysteriously vanished around April 14, along with the show's host and a cop investigating, took phone calls from people around the country and one person asked if the fellow's father was carrying a gun. Chief Lanier talks about a right to "legally possess a registered handgun in the home for the purposes of self-defense," but then goes on about a ban on semi-auto weapons. That's most guns. And would she impose that restriction on police when it comes to self-defense? Why then the homeowner for that very same purpose? And why only in the home? First off, the correct term is magazine, or "mag", not a "clip". Second; Revolvers are not enefective for selfdefense, they are very reliable and tend to be chambered in more powerful rounds. 44magnum > 9mm

ARs in 7.62x39 can be tricky. Truth is I really don't know. I was always cautious. My buddy has one and they shoot suprisingly accurate, much better than the AK, but the reliability is my concern and its' ability to double as a hunting rifle and self-defense gun.

Slick coatings can be good, that is not what I mean. Particular guns were made for specific rounds originally. The ramp-up, the friction, the shape, the magazine, etc. Specific magazines were also designed for certain rounds. In my opinion, it is just not as reliable on the AR platform when you switch up calibers. They shoot good, but I believe not as good as the .223 set-up.

Like I said before, I really don't know. Its only an opinion.
