  • A pure testimony to the adaptive capability of the IDF armored forces in its fight for survival against the arab armies.

  • I think it's 105 mm already, but not sure...

But a nice tank, isn't it?

  • A nice tank indeed. I figure you would have a better guess on the gun size...I thought they were 105mm as well......which is incredible since the tank started with a 75mm!

  • I researched and found out it was 105 mm gun.

  • The history of the capability of the IDF to adapt items to fit their needs..is just incredible.

  • Indeed, that's really incredible...

I can't wait to go to Latrun and see this with my own eyes :-)

  • The M-50s with VVSS and narrow track carried the D-75-50 75mm gun. A French adaptation of the Panther's gun. M-51s on the M-4A3 with HVVS and wider T-84 track carried the D-1504 L-44 105mm gun. Both had a large counterweight on the turret bussle to even out the weight of the guns. Early Shermans carried the worthless GP 75mm, but later ones carried a better 76mm gun. The Israeli M-51s were built from M-4A3E8s, which carried the 76mm.

  • idf shermans are fucking awesome!!!
