I know it lives in mangrove areas and sometimes do visit the coast but I haven't heard of it in the open sea. Looks a lot like a banded elephant trunk snake but there are some slight differences.
@klemensgann Hi, yes it did strike a few nice poses :) I asked some marine biology friends and we dont think its a sea snake as its lacking a paddle on the tail, might me a dog face water snake... but they are usually found in fresh water or esturies 3w.fort.usgs.gov/resources/education/bts/bioeco/other_snakes.asp what do you think?

file snake.,

it's a seasnake due to it's paddle like tail if you look closely at 0:45-0:51.
or it could just be a file snake

I think, it's definitely a type of water snake, not a sea snake.
kageorochimaru 6 months ago
@kageorochimaru I also think so because it's lacking a paddle on the tail.
