Burgerman, I have a Paul C Tim and am considering this Pedal. Do you think there would be too much overlap or are they completely different? I am looking for the ultimate trio of drives one of which will be the Paul C Tim. Thoughts? Thanks man... :)
hi burgerman 666 first sorry for my english, i´m not american.... ok i want to know the name of the song playing while you talking about the pedal. no the first song a mean the second. just befero you use the pedal. thanks
Hi Burgerman I was wondering if the original t.c. jauernig gristle king would be a better pedal than the trex gristle king? after all the trex is more expensive and usually it is better to get the original, am I right on this one? let me know thanks.
@Burgerman666 Ok, ill definately wait for your advice on this one as ive heard the original version 3 is way better than the trex version, have you tried the D' Luxury twin tremolo by any chance? thanks.
@rgel22 No guarantees now, unfortunately, as Tim seems to have gone cold on his offer to supply a demo unit He may need a nudge from interested parties such as your good self. :)
@Ghop7577 Mick custom wound these ones for me. We're working on releasing a 'signature' set sometime this year. In the meantime, shoot him an email and ask him what he put in there because I've forgotten (lol!) I usually just try and convey what I want to him and let him work his magic. Which is exactly what he does. :)
@chapintex1 I can't, unfortunately. Jetter have refused all offers to demo their gear on this channel and I haven't had the opportunity to try one otherwise. Sorry!
just picked one of these up (from Ebay UK) thanks largely due to your video and very positive online reviews.
Still in the honeymoon period but Absolutely love it!!!!!!! so versatile. so rare to find a pedal that does everything (light-heavy overdrive/tubescreamer/booster) and also does everything so well!!
so just a message to say thanks for an awesome review
Can you please tell me how well you thought it cleaned up with the volume pot (I knwo there's a brief demonstration here but it only shows so much). How responsive was it to your pick dynamics? I'm sorta looking for a "second channel"-type OD and was wondering if this might be it.
perfect overdrive to use as a second channel (thats pretty much what I do) and the dynamics and clean up are better than any other overdrive that I have used (and I have used quite a few)
Thanks! I've no idea where you can buy it in Oz. You'll have to contact the distributors - Australis. You might be better off grabbing one from one of the online sellers though as the Australian prices are ridiculous.
Gristle King for all round greatness with both types of guitars - humbuckers and single coils. HotWired for Teles and Strats - too much thick mid emphasis for humbuckers (for mine).
god damn this is going to be on my xmas list! fuck it sounds soooooo god damn good! i just bought the zvex Box of Rock and i think im gonna have to return that!
don't return the box o' rock! i know it's tiny, but the sound is monumental! given the choice between the gristle king and the bor i'd take the box... don't get me wrong. both are amazing. the king is on my Christmas list too though...
no problem. a friend of mine recently got the box and we jammed on it for a couple hours. this pedal is great, but for just a straightup kinda fuzzy sound the box is the stuff
I think this sounds better than the original! I had it for a bit but it didn't crunch like this one did. Plus it had that usual TS mid-hump. I like this enclosure much better than the huge one before. I think it was the same size as a Skreddy Echo.
Wow, that's pretty cool. I haven't heard or tried an original but that's a pretty flattering comment. I'm sure Sebastian and the engineers at T-Rex will be chuffed. I have to agree with enclosure comment; those big boxes are a bit cumbersome sometimes.
That's exactly what I was thinking. In fact, I tried that set-up this morning, but with the Pinnacle. The Pinnacle, even though I love it, didn't have the 'life' of the Gristle King, so I'm going to try your way this evening. I'll report back..
I think the guitar is at the forefront of any good tone, so if your playing a mexican strat its not going to sound like this.

@freeguitar84 Thanks! The sample was lifted from the T-Rex 'The Groover' track. It's a killer. Marc Bolan RIP. :)

Thanks dude! Very much appreciate it. NMV amps sure are fun but they also come with their own set of problems, I'm finding.
I'll have to start penny-pinchign and saving up for a Gristle King now! ;)

if you cut away the gristle and fat you loose all the flavor.
have your butcher leave it on for the best tone on the barbq.
