I am sure my mini could swim but she hates, hates water so I won't even try.I wouldn't call what I saw in the video torture by no means. Torture is a strong word to be using on someone who seems to love their dog.
The mini is not the standard and altough the standard is a better swimmer, the mini was never used for any water activities. They were used as ratters. I don't believe everything they put on You Tube btw. My mini doesn't like to swim and I would never subject him to something he didn't like just because there was a video out there.
This is horrible! How can you torture your minature schnauzer this way?! If you know anything at all about schnauzers you would know that they do not like to swim and are known to be poor swimmers. If you want a dog that swims, you should get a labrador!!! If your dog drowns, that's animal cruelty!!! How sad!
pukabare, Miniature Schanuzers are excellent swimmers and the only problem with having them swim is that they are prone to ear problems if you get water in their ears. If you think the lab is the only dog that is ideal for swimming, then you have a lot to learn.
Apparently you don't own a schnauzer or know anything about schnauzers. Just stick to your lab. I work with a schnauzer rescue and have seen what people "think" they can "teach" a dog. Hopefully your lab understands you.
The Mini Schnauzer is a smaller version of the Standard Schnauzer. It was bred down in size by mixing with other breeds one of which is the poodle. The poodle was originally bred as a diving dog. So the dog that you say has is a poor swimmer has genes of a dog used for diving. I don't know where you heard that the Miniature Schnauzer is a poor swimmer but there are plenty of videos to prove you wrong and I don't think you need to be wrongly accusing people of torture.
BTW, I do have a Mini Schnauzer and she is a very good swimmer. I have a video of her swimming on my profile page. I don't know where you got the idea that I own a lab.
I have never seen my mini swimijg and likeing it but she loves the snow I don't understand

But I will say the dog doesn't look like it likes swimming and if your going to make him/her do it you should put on a dog floatation jacket.
