Do the HS20 can shoot at 1080p, 24fps with manual focus, macro and exposure? Please tell me, I'm about to buy that camera but I'm very interested mostly in video at budget price.
I wonder why the Fuji engineers make not treasure of our criticisms and when they bring to market new models, the problems are never solved and this has only one word the engineer are stupid and presumptuous HS 10 - all over YouTube for one years I advice them of the HS10 problems and with The HS 20 they did't make nothing to improve it - only the manual focuse was inserted but this is not enough to make me and millions of buyers to be happy so Fujifilm change the stuff of your engeneeers
I'm sure in the next coming HS30 in near future they will have resolved the manual exposure button to let us choice the manual light controll we want but I'm sure this Engeneer are so stupid they are not going to resolve the manual White balance and we had to wait the HS40 The automatic White balance chaging continuously depending on what scene you are video recording to make me get crazy because the face of peopole change filter from orange to green or yellow and all that for the dress colurs
your video is a good test to show the HS20 has not the manual exposition - the white cat inside a room and a window behind it make appear the cat underexposed while if this camera had had a button for manual exposure control this white cat would'nt have appeared so underexposed and this is a serious lack that fuji engineers have not considered or wanted not to consider and I wonder why may be because we must wait forHS30 soon coming on market so there is no way to manually corrtect exposition
is it possible -in video mode I mean to stop the exposure and make it manually I hate the video recorded for instance pointing the sky and when you come down pointng buildings the exposure change automatically I want to memorize a point exposition and mantain it doens' matter if I change what I'm recording or sky or building in the same video file I want to be free to underexpose or overexpose at my will and not the to the engineers will so is it possible to memorize exposure someone saysnot
@JeddahTechKid - I know this is weird because I have the AF/AE problem w/ other types of videos. For some strange reason, getting close up was easier for the camera to process. At a distance, the AF/AE problems return (see my other videos that demonstrate) - especially in dark rooms or shooting at a distance. I set the camera to 'Center' mode instead of the factory setting of 'continuous'. The other thing you can do to help at least cut down on the lens 'hunting' is use 'P' mode & NOT EXR mode
they said those all problems has been solved in the new Firmware update is that right ?
did you installed that update? can you install that update and tell me what's the result? (download and install from Fujifilm Ca Site , Support Section) . because i really planing to buy this camera.
@topoliiiiiiiiii Thanks for the tips. The problem is better with those settings but it is still not very good. I have spent a LOT of time with Fuji tech support as well as @Fujiguys with them offering as much advice as they can give. In their latest video about the HS20, they pretty much admit that the video for the camera is not even close to being on par with its photo capabilities.
@topoliiiiiiiiii Turning off "Face detection" has helped a lot for me! This is really essentially to stop the constant focussing problem. And of course setting the video mode to "Center" and using the P-program (or Auto-program). Do not try to shoot a Video in EXR Mode. EXR Mode always has Face Recognition on and therefore always focuses.
@3800424 You only have to set your camera up one time for the video function to work. All you have to do is switch the wheel on top to 'P' mode. You MUST set the camera to 'Center' mode instead of the factory setting of 'continuous'. Any time you want to shoot a video after that, you just turn the wheel to 'P' and press the little red dot next to the screen. Hope this helps!
@topoliiiiiiiiii Hi... so cool but if i turn off "Face detection" it is not focusing during recording and when i zoom in or out it is out of focus... have you any tip?
@Darakesable and why i should go to P mode? whats the difrence? and can i use small lamp like torch or its just for focusing? last question can i set ISO or someting for better recording in night? thx so much :)
@Darakesable EXR mode for video is just terrible. 'P' Mode allows you to customize the settings and help the camera to focus better and not be confused by the software's EXR settings. I shot a video of the moon and used 'P' mode...it turned out well. I will post it as a video response to this video. Have a look!
Thank's what do you thing "Mode allows you to customize the settings and help the camera to focus better" On HS20 you can just set video quality and focusing as i know :( and if I turn of the face detection it not focusing :/ whats your setting ? thanks...
Great video, but i'M stucked on somethings. I'm trying to lock AF/AE but it's still changing automaticly while recording or shoting photos. Can you explain how we can lock focus & light lock?
@nave4pres2 as I understand it, the only thing you can do to 'lock' AF/AE is to use the 'centered' setting in Movie mode on this camera. I have a video I shot of my cat that shows how well 'centered' mode works BUT it does not do well with darker, more complex backgrounds and video shot from a distance.
@Tampalocators thank you for this important information. Looks like i can't lock focus & lighting
(AE-AF) while recording or shooting. Is there any way to lock the focus of the current scene with lock button? Because, this camera don't listen it's owners orders. Always automaticly selecting light level and focusing while recording.
Foe example , i don't recommend HS-20 for green screen shooting&recording.
@bulldozerHW It is threaded on the end of the lens barrel so I think you can. I have a couple of UV filtered lens covers that work quite well that screw right onto the end of the barrel.
I wasn't trying to be cute with the close-up and fast motion...just want to show how the camera, in Full HD Video mode, can do a good job of maintaining focus on a complex subject matter. The backlighting wasn't nice but, hey, cats don't often cooperate with video cameras buzzing around them. The colors and crispness of the video camera is very pleasing. Before getting the 'fix' from @fujiguys I was pretty sure I was going to return this camera because video is a critical function for me.
Hey, quick question. Does this camera allow external audio devices to be hooked up to it, such as mics?
TommyNerdlands 1 month ago
@TommyNerdlands Hi Tommy, I'm afraid the HS20 does not offer an external audio input. At least the built-in microphone is quite good, however.

For solving Af problem in fuji hs20 when you want to record a video,go to 'P' mode & not EXR mode
turn off "Face detection"(very important).
turn off Advanced anti blur,of course it is automatically off.
use "center" mode in Movie Af mode.
The problem is solved.
topoliiiiiiiiii 8 months ago
there's no AF problem here !?
what did you do to the camera ?

@matc2 the only thing you can do is zoom but it is kind of jerky. You have to do it VERY, V-E-R-Y slowly or it looks pretty rough.
