@mugenrider754 Dividing the loot really only gives you a better score at the end of the game (because it adds to your final share of gold). But it's also pretty useful if your crew is starting to get unhappy and you don't really have any leads on where to get more treasure or gold, since you end up starting over with a new (happier) crew and a single ship.

@mugenrider754 yah you can only use 1 ship in sea fights. the other ships are mainly for if you die in a sea fight you have another to swim to and for more crew for pillaging. thats really it.

didnt play it yet but .. movement of ships looks bad :( i love how ships move in Dysneys (disney wtf?!) Treasure planet: Battle at Procyon, they sail so smooth, have momentum, when they colide you can see and HEAR breaking wooden planks.. nothing personal against Mr. Meier, (i love civilization).

i actually got around to playing it. it is indeed a straight remake of the NES game Pirates! i never played the PC version, but i assume the NES one is a direct port of the DOS version.

nope its single core. And everything works ok and fast. But the sea combat is turtle speed, and cannon bullets fly really slow. Of course it speeds up but never to the point that it looks ok

Join the English at the start,

get a sloop and upgrade it to brass canon`s then everything you see except large ships because they are worth selling .. ha ha

I never sell my sloop because it is much faster than any other ship you will find.

Well you're a privateer, you can work for England for example and hunt down other pirates, take over territories under England's name and so on.

You can be a pirate, you can go against whatever starting nation you choose to work for.

Pirates! allows you to do pretty much what you want to do witih reason of course.

Privateers were pirates but were hired by nations to defend shipping lanes, they were given a letter of marque and were allowed to plunder other pirate ships or opposing nations ships that came into their territory.

can any1 help me, ive been looking 4 a pirate game like this. i dont no what it is called but i played it 8 years ago on mac. it is similar 2 this but less advanced. i dont no much about it but on the main screen you could choose 2 be a pirate or privateer. the sword fighting bits were in 2d and u culd visit islands but not as a character. you only controlled the 1 ship and u could pull up anywhere and look 4 burried treasure. i no this is a bad description but it would b g8 if i culd find it

yea, on the ship wen u were sailing u could click on different parts of the ship to do different things. u could click on the watchpost and go up and look through out for ships to attack. there were only 4 typs of ship i think, (sloop, merchant, brig and pirate) im pretty sure there was a map page u could go 2 to look 4 islands 2 pull up 2...

I once saw a dutch SOTL sailing to st. Martin, as a "new warship" at the very start in some game as English in 1680 near Nevis.

At rogue level i needed 2 tries to capture it and then run from the angy royal Dutch sloop right back to st. Kitts.

sloop/war sloop= french, english ports

royal sloop= spanish ports

brigantine/brig/war brig = english ports

anytype of galleons = spanish ports

small frigate/frigate/ship of the line = spanish ports (some in inglish ports aswell)

PC. On the PSP, each ship has a set number of cannons, and you can't change that, so you have to luck out and get a ship with max cannons.

While sailing on the PSP version, occassionally a ship will sail at roughly warp factor 10 across the screen for no apparent reason.

The treasure hunting segments are a pain in the neck on the PSP, because you have to manuever a large group around traps and cougars.

The only area the PSP excels in is dancing is much, much, easier and more sane.

that depends on how good your system is. here's a hint. compare the reccomended requirments with your system. i'm stuck with vista for the time being, so i can't tell you where to find your specific requirments. just search around a bit. that's what i did.
