  • Bev clearly one person has zero taste. I like the grainy appearance of this clip and the background static adds rather than detracts from the music. Thanks

  • genius !!!

  • Yes here is true perfection. Stan was the most gifted of us all, his playing was a miracle, and the along with two or three others, greatest scion of Bird and Prez.

  • absolutely love stan getz

what kinda jazz is this? sounds bebop!

  • Just incredible, thank you.

  • not as nice as the the Hawkins rendition on YT

  • @donnyab But what about Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen? They truly count for something.

  • This video has it all. Amazing tenor sound, a concise intro, a stop time showcase, multiple jazz quotes, speech like articulation, some serious blues, and a swinging rhythm section. I'm sure I've left something out, but what more could one ask for?

    This is complete perfection.

  • Love it, just beautiful.

  • nice tune & video !...ですね.

  • harika

  • Wow!! people have been mastering jazz for so long! i have a lot of catching up to do...

  • where is oscar?

  • Mr. Thigpen. Thank you, very much.

  • one of the best as Brawn on bass !

  • Love him, love his music. Thanks for posting my favorite melody by one of my favorite geniuses. Stand really was the man.

  • this is wonderful

  • out of nowhere, well, but i like to think out of now here. for ever the man stan like no one else am. great post

  • Stan never played a "cool tone in his hole life!

  • There isn't one great musician in the world who doesn't have respect for this man. One of the greatest swingers of all times & the greatest symbol of "The Cool". When you listen to this guy, you know there is a God.

  • Jan Johansson!!!!

  • Geat performances by all in this recording of one of my favorite songs. Thank you so much,

  • Nice architectural drawings by Mr Getz.

  • This tune should be re-named "Out of Heaven" when Stan is playing it.

  • Excellent!!!

  • Geniuses at work. It was such a tragedy when Jan died so young in a car accident (like recently deceased Swedish pianist Esbjorn Svesson who died in a diving accident last year). Getz was unbelievable. This footage is amazing!

  • 4:52 to 5.02 is funny

  • QUEL INtrO !!

  • @tubebopper09 is it the verse?

  • Great rendition of this jazz standard. Piano was a bit out of tune, but Jan Johansson sounds good anyway. Beautiful tenor solo by Getz. Thanks for posting.

  • Dig it ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

  • What a wonderful performer! Thanks very much for sharing, Bev!

    Hugs,

    Nonie

  • thanks for the video, great solos and lot of good musical ideas.

  • Wow I love Stan but I think I love Jan Johansson even more and now to see him move!! And is it true that Coltrane recorded songs with this band!?! wow! I'll sit back and enjoy this.

  • I had no idea that Stan taped a few numbers without Coltrane at this TV gig until Bev put these precious videos up.

So, yes Denis, for me this one really came from 'Out Of Nowhere'. Such an amazing version of this standard.

    Paul

  • Yes Paul, at last we can enjoy it.

Incredible session. How many more like that ?

Tapes stored in some radio/library vaults.

    Denis

  • You came to me from "Out Of Nowhere"

    Absolutely gorgeous.

    My favorite;)

    Thanks Bev

    Denis
