  • That Factory Five has some serious front end lift.

  • One problem with American supercars is they don't look very good styling wise, they look mostly like kit cars made with cheap parts, and I'm willing to be they're not very luxurious on the inside. Add on top of that they mostly seem to be made in sheds, and you want someone to trust their life to that while they're racing around in a plastic box? No wonder everyone buys Corvettes

  • @jbrun009 this is in fact a kit car....you can buy this kit from factory 5

  • @jbrun009 hahaha you are so funny man! This is indeed a kit car, it is made out of space frame chassis so it's strong and the cover is fiber glass that's why it looks cheap and that is made under a shed because that's where is was probably made! :) The engine and rest of parts are taken out of used Corvettes. With the 500hp engine it has better p/w ratio than a Ferrari Enzo! All of that for approx $40k, quite a bargain don't you think? ww ffcars com/magazine/gtm2006 htm

  • @jbrun009 Funny how GTMs get compliments on their looks all day long! The interior can be custom like any custom car - the interior kit is basic but that doesn't mean you can't redo it for a modest amount extra. The chassis is a full race car, spaceframe chassis. NOBODY relies on the body of a race car for crash protection(!!!), and there is little stronger than a spaceframe for protection. When you know what a GTM is, then you will understand how good it really is and how it betters a Corvette.

  • @scaryGTM a corvette is built pretty much the same way... though, possibly not as strong.

  • @leloodallasmultipass Very different cars with different design objectives. The GTM has an exceptionally strong, full race car space frame chassis, mid-mounted engine mated to a G50 trans. Don't get me wrong, I love Vettes and had a Z06...... the LS motors are the best, but the two cars feel very different and are very different. To be brutally honest, the GTM is a real race car on the road - the road Vette (despite being almost as quick) isn't.

  • @jbrun009 what do you think corvettes are made of ? Plastic, fiberglass. The GTM is about 1000lbs lighter, every 100 pounds is about a 1/10 of a second.Car and Driver tested it and loved it,they said it was one of the fastest cars ever tested,I think it went like 11.00 in the 1/4 mile at 125mph.The design lacks a little, but it's a lot of car for 40-50 grand. These cars are fast and handle like their on rails, thanks to the corvette componets and -1000 lbs.

  • Want one? It's just a company building the Factory 5 GTM kit,and honestly if you have the skill, you can do it yourself for under $60k,that's with a crate 'Vette motor and the new transaxle they are having supplied. Of course GTMalan can do the build for you,but where's the fun in that?

  • THIS IS STREET LEGAL?!

  • orgasmic.

  • yo is this the runway at cochise? where is this?

  • kit car or no kit car ....you better believe that someone has a phat wallet to have one of these.....Besides even if it is the kit car...you still gotta know your shit to build one.....Not just anyone can own one of these.

  • @dad0 It is not a kit car. It is a GT Malan has a LS9 motor by GM that is capable of 610hp. This car is built by Alan Motor Group. You can have one built. And they r not all that expensive . At least not like a Lambo or Ferrie not even a R8>

  • This IS a kitcar even tho this particular one is professionally built. If you build one yourself, it will probably not look anywhere near as good as this. It uses a LS9 but as all kitcars, you put in whatever engine you can afford and tune your engine exactly to what you want. This one uses a Porsche transmission apparently. Kitcars WILL be cheaper than the real thing for obvious reasons. Also its amazing how americans only roadtest stuff in a straight god damn line.

  • @Janusha This car you can't order it and have it sent to your home in pices becuse it not a kit car. Yes you can have diferren motor other that the LS9 but it must be from the the LS line such as a LS1-LS9 nothing else. The only way possible to get one of this car is to order one from Alan motorsport and they will build the car to your spec but they will not send the car in pices and no you cant not build it in your garage.

  • yeah yeah yeah... its a kitcar even if you have them build it for you.

  • @Janusha Wow. They r not building the car for u they are salling u the car. They just build it to fit yu and only u, same as what Saleen did on there S7 they would build the car to fit you and to your like.

  • And like saleen (and all american supercar attempts) they sell 10-20 cars and die.

This thing is built professionally to promote the car. Its a kitcar whichever way you choose to see it. I dont see why you find that relevant but... As all such car-projects they are built by people with good intentions but very small budget. So they dont build 100 cars and THEN try to sell them. They will not built a single car unless they already have a written contract from a paying customer.

  • @Janusha It's not entirely true that all American Supercar makers die after 10-20 cars. SSC has done 50 (haha) UA's and is moving on to the Tuatara. Mosler makes about 50 or so MT900's a year and has been around since 1985. Panoz makes around 50-100 cars a year and has been at it since 1989. Saleen, built 78 S7's before 2009 but the company has not died but did can the S4 and S5S supercars. Vector might as well be dead. They don't use the business model the Europeans do and that's a shame.

  • @DocWolph

No no no... Its more realistic that SSC sold less than 20 cars. Since 2007. Thats not even enough to stay in business. Put SSC Aero in google images and you will see every single car they ever built. Count them.

Koenigsegg is considered ultra low production, high price car. Even they sold more cars than the entire US supercar industry. Mosler, Saleen, SSC, Vector and... thats the entire list. Not even 100 cars all together. All these nubers you found are wildly exaggerated.

  • I dont know how many racecars Mosler built but last time I spoke to Mosler, they had built 37 roadcars. Not 37 a year.. 37 in total. Saleen put together a few cars after their bankruptcy some 7 years back when Mosler himself left the company but those last cars were made from spareparts. There has been no actual production since and their customers have all lost their warranties as the company no longer exsist with the same owners. The Saleen Raptor died with the previous ownership.

  • @Janusha Saleen built 78 S7's total. However, it was Steve Saleen, not Warren Mosler, who left the company. Saleen, not SMS, continues to tune Mustangs. SMS does Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. The S7 was discontinued before their bankruptcy to make way for the S5S, which was canned (died) in the bankruptcy. It's a shame, too. The S5s was to be Saleen's "volume" supercar at about 250 units a year. Not unlike the Vector SRV8 and both killed by bankruptcy.

  • @Janusha Actually. No they aren't. We can argue the numbers to the end of the internet but the point is that these companies did not go under, even Vector which might as well have by now, and they did make more than 20 cars either of on model or in total. BTW, It might behoove you to actually look this stuff up before denying it.

  • @DocWolph

Yes they went back to tuning mustangs which I really dont consider sportscar building. And yes.. I typed the wrong name. Saleen left the company over disagreements even before the takeover. He formed another company and later took over the warranties from his previous company.

Look.. Im not nearly nerdy enough to look up the details on largely failed businesses when there are so many other that didnt fail. Im just amazed at the low frequency of US built performance / quality cars.

  • I had no idea it was a kit car.

  • The GT Mulsanne itself is actually a close copy of another car, and which other said car itself borrowed heavily from the Ford GT 40s' lines. This was discussed at great length on the FF website before FF launched the GT Mulsanne, with one chat room poster including pictures of the "donor" car used for styling. Dont have the time to substantiate this, but anyhow, glad FF is making them, and good luck to Alan!

  • Fucking Love that car!

  • whats the diffrence between this and the gt mulsanne

  • @20stevieray there both kit cars from Factory Five Racing so probaly the name and some other small stuff

  • @20stevieray It is the same thing., Factory five builds these kits for the regular guy to put one together for about 50 - 60 grand., 20 for the kit plus a donor vette or running gear, brakes, ect check out their website., The GT Malan is just a factory five car that this guy alan, he added his name to the name GTM alan., puts together and sells as a complete car., But Factory Five deserves the credit for creating such a great car
