  • Australlia does not want any action on climate change. At worst we see a minor rise in temperature, not a big deal.

  • Australian Action + Little World Action = No Realistic Changes To World Climate

  • If you think you're demonstrating that you 'get it' with this crap, i feel real sorry for your science teacher.

  • vote for the sex party

  • The treasury is more right than Crazy tony .

  • Tony doesn't have any plans on anything. If he was the Prime Minister, it'd hit him in the face so hard because suddenly he has nobody to critisize and he'll be in the spotlight. I don't think he realizes just because he says someone else is wrong, that doesn't make him right.

  • Tony Try selling bananas when a cold day is 50 degrees in the shade

  • what a load of crap, man made global warming is bullshit.

if co2 traps radiation from the sun, then it stands to reason that the c02 has already risen up through the ozone layer which reflects away u.v. radiation, what proof can be offered that the co2 does not keep on rising away from the earth and dissipating into space ?

and if co2 does get trapped, then why is it that billions of years of volcanoes, bushfires and the emittence of co2 gasses have not already destroyed our earth ?

  • @stuffmohammed

if the "theory" of man made global warming was correct,

and that co2 is trapped in our atmosphere, then how is it that we exist ?

then there is the cfc debacle, cfc's take years to be "blown" up by winds rising above the ozone layer where u.v. radiation breaks down the cfc's into base elements,

  • stuffmohammed one of the elements being chlorine, the theory is that the chlorine falls back through the ozone, 1 chlorine atom can kill hundreds of thousands of ozone atoms, but what proof do the alarmists have that the chlorine actually drops back down through the ozone ?

  • stuffmohammed

besides, the earth itself constantly emits chlorine into the atmosphere every day.

alarmists claim that there is less ozone today than there was in the past, but i dont believe for one minute that science can accurately measure how much ozone is in the atmosphere, especially when ozone can be found anywhere from ground level to 30 miles up..

  • stuffmohammed

as for so-called ozone holes which is actually just a thinning of the ozone layer, they are a seasonal occurrence

which indicates it to be a natural occurrence.

even the alarmists admit that it is a seasonal occurrence.

and to finish, if cfc's pollution etc are the cause of ozone (supposed) depletion

  • stuffmohammed

why dont these ozone holes appear all over the world where pollution etc comes from ?

and why aren't they constantly in existence rather than being an annual occurrence ?

ozone is always replenishing itself, that is a fact, and it will continue to do so long after man made global warming is finally recognised for the scam that it is.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Hitler Youth being allowed to speak! "people want action on Climate Change" People want to change the climate for no reason at all!! The Rudd Dictatorship wants a ETS.... That has to be the most offensive wording i have ever heard from this Government

  • Would you trust a man who wears pink lycra?

  • When was there a stable climate system on Earth?

  • Abbott would be much better leader for Australia than Rudd by far

  • wow so many scientists , makes me feel stupid because obviously climate change is an incredibly deep issue and so many people knowing so much about it makes me wonder where the average australian is.. oh they are talking crap about things they dont understand.. typical

  • I don't think Rudd's scheme does enough. It is severely watered down, but Australia seems to be at a stage where it still debating the existence of climate change. In such a climate, it's very difficult to get any concrete targets set. We need to tell the government we have moved beyond that, and want greater action, and using climate change inaction as a vote winning gimmick won't work.

  • it's better than no thinking.

at least he is taking this shit seriously- unlike the joke of a politician you could call tony abbot

  • haha musicianftw01 as much as i agree with you, i really doubt you will have much of a pliant audience when it comes to this crowd of "liberal" clowns. just let them happily vote for abbotts religious state, to be contented with droughts and 2 min showers, while their houses are blasted by extreme weather.

  • LOL interest is probably the only income you get apart from dole money. If you don't think climate change exists, take a drive out of the city and see how degraded the place is. australia is drying up, and if you don't think it, then i hope a bushfire shows your house and its contents how stupid its owner is.

  • I come from the country and i can tell you that coming from the country makes you understand that things come in seasons, and if we have seasons, winter and summer, wet and dry, extremes of our seasons, why is it out of the question that the earth as a whole would naturally go through its own seasons with extremes of hot and cold?!

  • And whats with all the contradictions i hear?, why is Australia getting drier because of global warming but in Asia and Africa the deserts are shrinking because of the same global warming?

And while I am trying to understand things, how many bitumen roads and cement buildings where around absorbing the suns heat during the days before there was global warming?

  • Australia is the driest continent on earth, rainfall is inconsistent in most areas sometimes too much sometimes too little. There is very little nutrient in our soils etc bottom line life in australia lives on a knife edge. Life that has evolved here is adept at surving harsh conditions however if over a short period of change conditions become more extreme....

  • Also jbfwwia, dont waste your time worrying about bitumen roads etc keep it simple go back learn about the green house effect. Atmospheric carbon warmed the planet making it habitable, there are other factors involved however lets keep it simple. ice cores explicitly show atmospheric carbon to be no higher than 300 ppm for eons, it rises and falls throughout history but never above 300. since the industrial revolution it has been on a steady rise currently 380 ppm 400 ppm is irreversible.

  • thats a good view of history, as long as you leave out the parts where carbon was once in the thousands of parts per million. Soda water has about 5000ppm of carbon in it, why don't you leave a bottle outside and see if it gets hotter than the plain old water you left next to it.

  • it seems you have a problem with basic comprehension, a bottle of soda water is the not a complex interplay of atmospheric elements. Again i reiterate go back and learn about the green house effect, im pretty sure they teach it in primary school. And yes there have been periods of high atmospheric CO2, but never above 300 ppm. Take the jurassic for instance the middle east was an ocean and there were no polar ice caps. not a problem when you consider time scales and the rate of change.

  • changes in abiotic environmental conditions on earth have been observed to occur constantly however they happen slowly over tens of thousands of years. Anthropomorphic activities are causing changes much faster than this, the ability of most organisms and hence ecosystems to adapt to changes of such a pace is greatly diminished as any adaptations happen over generations. Then again given your level of understanding jbfwwia i assume you dont comprehend the concept of evolution...

  • @heartthehorse you assume too much....

let me assume now that you should go back to school and learn the difference between your so called global warming and the greenouse effect, which are too different things not one thing that you change between when you need an argument

  • @jbfwwia i'm sure that would be the kind of experiment denialists would conduct to reassure themselves climate change isn't real

  • @mnpoo2 I don't deny global warming.

I just happend to believe that this is natural, if only because these things have been shown to happen before. 40 years ago, you all said we were heading for an ice age, you got it wrong then and you probably got it wrong now.

  • 40 years...a lot can change in 40 years. there have been many advancements in technology, science, etc. the whole world appears to acknowledge climate change is real, as participation at Copenhagen has shown.

Yes, they have happened before. But when in earths history has there been industrialisation. History can change.

  • the reason data at the time indicated an ice age was due to a massive volcanic eruption at the time. Sulphur dioxide reflects the suns energy back to space. This has been acknowledged. And "global warming" is entirely the wrong word climate change is far more accurate as its affects are not just about warming they are about extreme weather events. It is a complicated issue that the media is failing to communicate the public in a meaningful way.

  • heartthehorse...

thats good, what you said there actually makes sense, I hadn't thought of that, can you explain the medievil warming period? please understand that this isn't me being a smartarse,

  • stop lieing this bank is the worse rip off in the world....

  • ftwl wats that mean

  • Tony Abbott is not a leader. He is a politician who is trying to garner popular support through his message of fear and division.

  • AGREED!

  • Oh, so he's Kevin Rudd then? Perhaps you prefer a little internet censorship instead. If that happens, this video wouldn't even exist.

  • lmao. he said 'Dictator' hahaha you couldn't have sounded more ignorant then then you just did.

  • i am NOT a Tony Abbott fan and i think the reason he got voted in is, excuse my political incorrectness, but the rednecks of Australia are just getting desperate

  • To be fair, Abbott didn't get "voted in" to the liberal leadership by the Australian people, it was the liberal party itself. In fact the polls had him as the least popular preferred leader out of him, Hockey and Turnbull.

  • Westpac & Abbott are both LIARS and should be banned!

After watching this great clip, i realise how much of a monkey Abbott is!

  • What LIES?

You mean all those LIES from John Howard dont YOU?

Crawl out of Pauline Hanson's ass and face reality!

  • Tony Abbott is a brainless racist extremist.

People like him should be barred from politics as should his various frontbenchers who were involved in scandals during the Howard regime.

Just look at Abbott's pathetic ranting and trying to play the race card already, anything he doesn't like, he calls 'unaustralian' thus trying to doubt people's mentality that they are not 'australian' enough if they don't agree on his right wing racist views.

Rudd & Gillard will have him for breakfast :)

  • And another thing: Co2 levels in the past were WELL above 370parts per million. Co2 isn't the enemy.

  • CO2Levels may have been higher in the past, but the dinosaurs couldn't really complain. The change now is making temperate places drier, wet places wetter, and sometimes even making very dry areas wetter. Basically life still survived after these climatic events, but there will still be a chaotic shift, as populated regions and food producing regions adjust. Its better to try and prevent unwanted change, rather than living like nomads once we find our cities in the middle of a desert.

  • The food producing regions are the ones we'll be paying all that ETS money to (as well as paying them for just about everything that comes into this country). Where will we be when China becomes a super power? We already send them our coal and URANIUM. And they send us back their substandard food products and techno crap. Think about it.

  • haha its not all that bad. if china does become that much of a superpower, you might be living in china considering how backward we (aust) are. economically speaking solar and wind are free resources. china sees wind/shine as free, why can't we? Its ironic that we designed some of the best solar techs, only to have its use rejected here. Meanwhile one of the researchers returned with the tech to china, and now he's a multibillionaire.

  • Australia is backward, we are only rich because we sell essential raw materials, we can hardly export a single manufactured product. Even with the intellectual strength we have, our bickering politics, scepticism at new technologies and our lack of "can do" spirit will always render us merchants of cheap materials.

  • you can not look at this issue so simplistically

otherwise, life would be too easy. Nope, life and the world is complex.

  • No, we shouldn't follow them like sheep, but nor should we expect them to follow us. No-one is going too look to Australia when deciding carbon reduction targets. We're too small a country, our actions too small on the global scale to shift political opinion. It's an inconvenient truth.

  • Search for "Westpac Bank Bananas" for a hilarious parody by John Safran!

  • What a pathetic waste of space. Not only can't you identify CO2, you make false claims about weather as well based on existing data: the rate of hurricanes and extreme weather is currently DROPPING.

  • lame

  • WOah this guy is an idiot. Totally missing the point. Suppose Australia stops all carbon producing activity. As Australia is only responsible for a tiny portion of carbon emmissions, it won't change anything. The real change will be made if China, India and other industrial giants change policy. Australia's policy will have minimal effect on the scheme of things, and devastating economic consequences.

  • But, if we don't make an effort and cut down, we won't be setting an example to all the other nations out there with a larger output of carbon emmissions. Everyone will have to do it eventually, why not help lead the way? Once we have the technologies in place, its not going to effect how we live our life. There is only a small cost to get those technologies in place. So to put it off is the real idiocy.

  • I think you're overestimating the importance of Australia. Other countries won't change policy just becasue Australia has, and the 'small cost' is easily into 11 figures, if not more. Bottom line is, we can't risk economic devastation to 'set an example' that will probably be ignored.

  • While other countries won't change policy "just because Australia has", the more countries setting ambitious carbon reduction targets, and investing in sustainable technology, the greater the pressure on other nations with far larger carbon emissions to act also. Also, the economic cost of combating climate change would be far less than the economic and social cost of not doing so.

  • I agree failing to address climate change on a global scale would have serious social costs, but Australia's actions would likely not alleviate these. 'Ambitious carbon reduction targets' are expensive. Thousands of jobs lossed, billions of dollars of profits, and a significant drop in international competitiveness, and higher energy bills. If the cost of production domestically becomes more expensive due to carbon reduction targets, this production will simply go somewhere else.

  • @tessvid wow you obviously have no understanding of the extent of which green energy has advanced. if green energy was even minutely economically viable we would have implemented it by now.

  • Nice one!

  • I want to save the planet, but not if it means I have to pay taxes that prevent me from getting a car and home of my own one day, better to live only 70 years and live happily then a hundred with no life because you could never afford anything. too bad for the next generation though

  • This is a pathetic AND selfish way to see the world- CLEARLY you can't comprehend more than your own little world!

If you think that owning a house and a car will make you happy for the next 70 years you are either extremely shallow or extremely naive!!!!

AND given the way the climate is changing you will either die or lose these 'life-making' possessions in natural disaster or will be overwhelmed by the increasing amount of CO2 and extreme heats!

    Good Luck!

    Idiot!

  • AnnaKBrisvegas = legend.

  • Tony = moron.

  • mad monkey goes bananas! great work AYCC!!

  • yes we do want change! Why delay change it wont help, giving us fake figures so you can get ahead are you kidding me?

  • Great Vid. Creative and Clever ... and Correct. You know you are on a good thing when the extremsit-climate-change-deniers are offended and criticize it .

  • not a great video really. it seems rushed and gets across very few worthy points.

  • This video was something of a waste of time. We all know that the Liberals are bent on denying climate change and are prepared to do nothing to combat it. But we also know that Labor, who are in power, are almost as equally reluctant to do anything to tangibly reduce carbon emissions. ETS trading is a load of shit that is structured to make a lot of money for financiers and that's all it's going to do. Reduce carbon emissions... haha what a joke that is...

  • Wow this was neither informative or humourous.

  • They, being the ones in power, create certain scenarios and fear campaigns to invoke a reaction by us, the gullible, a call for action. Ever wondered why there has been no debate broadcasted by the big media mobs about the validity of Climate Change Science? We live in a Democratic Society, however our votes and our opinions are being bought and influenced by a media propaganda machine......

  • Furthermore 9000 Scientists, 3000 with PHDs in the USA have signed a petition questioning the validity of the Climate Change Science that is fed to us by the Media. Its evidential that the people who believe in the media's Climate Change Science, have completely been played by those who wanted such world governing policies in the first place.

  • Nice Vid, pitty that humans have only influenced the overall global Climate by 1/6. I am a proponent of Environmental Conservation and Emission Reductions, however those who believe the doom & gloom of the Climate Change Story are just like those pitiful investors who react when some fear is broadcast, crashing markets and destroying lives. Yes, the Climate Change is happening now as it has been doing during the eternity of planet's earth's existence. Climate change story = world governance!

  • oh no...one of you f'n conspiracy theorist world government idiots again....sick of you ppl

and what do you mean only 1/6? 1/6th!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Climate control is not an economically viable option for humans. We are too greedy and independant. Historically however, wars have resolved such problems.

  • How the hell did such a clown come to lead the liberal party? By electing him leader, all the liberals are achieving is strengthening the image of the labour party whilst degrading their own. Don't worry people, he won't last long.

  • @watchingvids101 i don't agree with everything abbott does but when it comes to choosing between him and an idiot like rudd who has no principles and won't stand up for anything if it means it could hamper his chances of being reelected its a no-brainer.

  • @AussiePolitics Rudd , Was keeping our resources in our country . If he did not do that in the end all we will be left with is big holes in the ground and all the fat cats will be gone. You will wish you had krudd then .,.,.He wanted to keep our money in our country ,That is not bad, Tony wont tax them but hell tax the hell out of everyday people and small business ,.

  • @xingwei12 what utter crap. 'He wanted to keep our money in our country' well all the money was coming from selling it overseas and if you drive away investment and jack up prices too much then you're going to screw that sector over aren't you?

oh and the tax has been inproved since rudd has gone. at least its 12% rather than 6% before it kicks in. think about it 6% profit is super? bullshit, they'd make more money investing in the stock market and getting dividends.

  • Brilliant.

  • Tony Abbott is a cunt and I hate him!

  • top notch A+

  • HAHA Fantastic Vid! Funny as and really hits the nail on the head

  • haha so true though! tony abbott knows nothing about climate change and yet he tries to convince australians that he should be making our decisions for us when it comes to austalias stance on climate change! we want action, he wants cash!

  • @q34q34q, Banana smoothies? I think this add makes a parody of Westpac's banana smoothie ad, which got taken off TV shortly after being released due to customer complaint - the add apparently pissed a lot of customers off haha.

There's nothing really that bad about the voice over guy I reckon.. ? Its sorta not that important anyway, the real message is about how ineffective and corrupt politicians can be when it comes to taking action on climate change.

  • this is very clever! well done all :) I hope the mad monk sees it

  • Its a spoof of the westpac rate rise advert, thats what the banana reference is...

  • maybe this whole thing is going above my head, but seriously, what the fuck do banana smoothies have to do with... anything?

i'm all for climate change, or no climate change, or whatever it is we're getting behind, but could you get a voice over guy who doesn't sound like a smug dipshit?

  • agreed. sounds like a knob.

    pinko propaganda...

  • It's okay mate... it's a spoof of a westpac video (as suggested in the title). He is trying to sound smug to imitate the condescending tone of the original westpac ad that tries to explain interest rate rises with a dumb metaphor about the price of bananas..
