We only went up about 15-20 feet, so the branches were still thick enough to support us.
Scared the shit outta our moms though....which we still laugh about to this day!
A few years ago we found they cut that tree down...oh well...we still got the memories0

Not really. These kids were 7 and 8 years old. That's a little young to be playing be playing outside alone unsupervised, but as long as they stay in a group it should be fine. When I was a kid, all the parents in the neighborhood let kids that age play outside unsupervised if they were in pairs or groups.

i lived next door to these kids when this happened.. and they were just plain bad kids.. the day before they had caught a neighbors trash on fire! i even slapped garret around once for hitting my sisters----poor babies

Well it was a prime time TV show, and they hired actors sometimes if the family members didn't volunteer to re-enact the story. There were other re-enactments where the acting was less than convincing. Specifically, "Bob! Bob! Get yer gun! There's an alligator with a kid in its mouth..."

Those kids were like 6 or 7 years old, I don't really know anyone whose parents didn't let them play in the yard unsupervised sometimes at that age. Plus, she probably didn't anticipate them going up the tree, since her husband cut the branches off so they wouldn't climb it.

wrong I have kids and I supervise them no matter what I have to do. Laundry can wait my kids are way more important, as the vid shows it can only take a sec 4 something to happen, what if those kids had fallen & died? the mom would feel guilty 4 not paying attention
