Jesus Christ, I realize Toys for Bob had nothing to do with SC3 and that's why it's so unimaginative, but how uncreative could Accolade possibly be?! Seriously, hearing a terrible impression of lines from SCII is NOT impressive!
"before we destroy thinking beings we share with them this comforting fact"... why the hell the writers decided to copy WORD BY WORD from sc2... it's so moronic and it happend alot during sc3
what, a Kzer Za Kohr Ah wannabe talking about reincarnation? What the fuck were the writers of SC3 smoking? The Kohr Ah would be the last to even care about reincarnation, in fact they'd abhor it because it would mean the threat could possibly come back.
@woadancincolours Exactly! The only thing that would even SLIGHTLY slow the Kohr-Ah from turning you into space chum was "speaking the words". All this philosophical bullshit that they speak on this one is unlike SC2.....it was just, "We're gonna fight and kill you, get right with whatever God or deity you worship, write your will, say goodbye to your family. Nothing personal, but you must be cleansed."
My god, SC2 had the best voice acting ever. SC3 just wasn't even close to the task. Hell, even the sombat screen wasn't even close. SC2 kicks ass in every way compared to SC3.
@CucciCadet SC3 wasn't created by Toys for Bob, subdivision of Accolade, this game wasn't crated by the same company because of lack of funds for a 3rd game, basically this game is a rip-off.
Exactly like Masters of Orion. 1st was good. 2nd was great and 3rd was shit.
Actually, the SC2 voice-acting was bad on average. Sometimes it was okay, and in a few places (the Utwig!) it was abysmal. But mostly it was just mediocre.
I think the Spathi voice was one of the few good things to come from SC3, and the Ur-Quan voice is one of few voices done better by SC2.
The Koh-rah....more could have been done with them, but no, nothing was. This game has many loose-ends, plot-holes, inconsistancies....yes, and the ending! Which monkey came up with that?
First, SC2 had a lot of post-processing. Ever noticed that at the beginning of the game, when the starbase transmission gets scrambled by the ilwrath vessel, it actually sounds like there's interference? As in, the actor keeps talking, static is added manually. Today's games abhor that kind of work, and the actor simply makes awkward sounding pauses mid-sentence to make it sound like static. In the end it sounds like he's stuttering, or a retard.
Second, the SC2 actors were simply amazing. Not because they played their role well - way beyond that. They took cartoon looking goofy characters and made them sound authentically dramatic. What's more, I had the impression the voice actors actually understood what they're reading! Can you imagine that? Today's games' voice acting, bar a few notable examples, is mostly read with the same tone and emotion for "Close the door behind you" and "You just killed my firstborn son"
This was always weird. They only attack you if they have ships, and you have to try it over and over again to get them to do it. Not to mention, the manual said they are initially allies but may become enemies. To this day, I've never been able to get them to give me their ships.
More overlords and all that.

Compared to the bad-ass Ur-Quan voices from SC2 all I can say is FAIL!

TOTALLY agree.
Here, they sound like cheap actors trying to voice thugs.
In SC2, the voice made my bones vibrate in fear. They were death incarnate.

The Kzer-Za are allies, yes.
The renegade Kzer-Za, posing as Kohr-Ah, however, are not.
The allied Kzer-Za brought a few Kohr-Ah observers on their mission and, if I remember right, they stirred the "unsure" Kzer-Za into open revolt.
Kromgar 3 years ago
But then they DON'T attack you. I always thought that was weird about SC3. Maybe a bug?

That's one lousy voice-over... and damn stupid looking puppet...
The Kohr-ah in sc2 were creepy althogh it was just a pixel-art drawing...
This thing looks like something they found in the Muppet Show's backstage...
I never got t play Sc3.. is it any good?
Nemesis5215 4 years ago 10
No, not really.
Its one half stolen lines from SC2, and the other half original, but primarily stupid or lame ideas.
The midi's are horrible, especially compared to the lovely and quirky mods of SC2.
And its also insanely short.

SC3 is so bad that it is not considered canon by fans or the creators of SC and SC2.
