@galvatron96 I downloaded the ISO and installed it in VirtualBox last week. The distro itself seemed OK, though the partition manager wasn't the least bit user friendly and after installation, I couldn't get locales to work at all.

@ghenulo Its defining characteristic is that everything is build from source automatically according to your preference. Compiling a lot of complex software takes as long as it needs.
@ghenulo The time it takes can be reduced if you have RAM to spare and you mount /var/tmp/portage on a ramdisk so that it barely touches your hard disk while compiling.
The script writers for this show didn't do their research very well considering sheldon is meant to be a genius and no one possessing any real intelligence would refer to ubuntu as their favourite linux distro.

He is using Ubuntu because it has the best support forums , and most support. Most people would never use Slackware/gentoo , but Linux Mint, and Ubuntu is the best to bring new low level nerds to Linux. No one cares if he says GNU-Linux or just Linux. That like calling Mac OS Unix-BSD-NeXTSTEP-Mac OS. It's a waist of time.
