this is just some guy doing random shit there is no artistic value in this unless you think a grown ass man doing random shit a child does is artistic. like wtf take up agriculture or something
personally i dont think it is funny, kinda a horror feeling instead. but yes i agree with majojo123, if that's what the audiences receive from the performance, who has the right to say it is wrong for them to laugh? art is always a personal thing, that is why i am still angry that my art teacher failed me in high school when i thought my painting was quite ok!!!
Urm Wow! isn't "ignorance" amazing. Can something not do all of those things and be funny! The worst thing is a passive audience member. It is so ignorant to say people are laughing because they are uncomfortable, its part of going to see something and an audience reaction is part of a performance and Le Roy is wanting a reaction.
it really annoys me when ppl laugh at what they dont understand. i think it was far beyond humor. yes, it was brilliant, but it was also created to challenge your ideas of gender and sexuality, of space and physicality... these are things that are looked over once you get into a discomfort zone and laugh. its fine to enjoy the humor within it as well, but do so silently at a showing. this isnt a comedy show. grow up. analyze.
surely the audience should react however they feel they should? If its funny they can both laugh and take something away from the piece. Its not immature to laugh when you find something amusing.
@bubbleflavoronline honestly, i have a bachelor of fine arts degree in dance and i've done my fair share of bullshitting the hell out of a performance's "intentions and meaning"....but your head is so far up your own artistic ass. there is no way an average person would immediately get gender and sexuality references from this without having to bullshit. art is for everyone, not just those who have degrees, so expect and encourage any form of reaction if you want art to live on.
Oh....Kay?
