if you're still having a problem opening some of your files, go to the vegas 10.0 folder(or whichever version you have) eg:
C:\Users\Katie\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\10.0
and search the dates of the projects you had been working on at those times for the backup files(the file names will all probably be something like 00000d88.autosave or something), works for me every time :) hope that helps!
