@Kapowtoys actually I was thinking about getting it and either sticking with it, or paint, but it would be hard to make the shades even, though the 2 shades might look pretty cool. i would use paint remover, but i think the plastic is colored a dark gray. could you give me more plastic color info?

Never had any problems with it tbh. Had more problems taking it out.

@pieisgood13 The key to go back into car mode is a sharp, but not violent twisting of the aft end of the car. If you are not sharp enough with the twist, it hangs all day long. Sorry, no major tricks, just a good sharp turn to clear the chin.

This mold gets so much hate, and for such stupid reasons. The original Sideswipe never had swords, and was red. Boom, this guy is dual-wielding plasma pistols, has red flames, turns into an effing corvette, and looks awesome in robot mode. Sure, his legs are horribly brickish and he is really panel-y in car mode, but hey. It's a hell of an improvement over the ROTF mold.

I would have preferred an all-silver or black paint scheme on this one. Maybe a redeco as Sunstreaker/Tracks. I may paint him up as Tracks and modify the doors so they can sit on the sides as "wings" in car mode.

@Kapowtoys I took a closer look at the figure today, checking out the screws and whatnot. It seems like he'll be an easy one to paint, the only problem area is the legs because I don't know how to remove the "one-way pins" as I would call them. I have a pin punch for pins that go all the way through. I think I will be painting him as Tracks, but I might do some digibashing to see what he would look like as Streaker. I like the idea of swordbot Sideswipe's brother being a gun expert. :o

Thanks so much for the great review. You made my choice possible on getting this guy and he is just awesome. But I would like your word on after transforming back to alt-mode...is it just mine or do his legs only go so far up and under that all 4 wheels won't make contact to any surface?

It's doable, but he's a bit of a nightmare, the wheels have to pushed out about as far as possible and then everything lined up from there. Thanks for the kind words!

First off, great review. It seems to me that I'm gonna be replacing my Trans1 and ROTF Bumblebee and Sideswipe for the HFTD versions, they just seem so much better accuracy wise. One thing though, the doors on the back aren't "kibble", they're part of Sideswipe's design period, and it looks much better here.

However, hearing that the Japanese version is completely silver...anyone care to point me to where I can grab one?

I currently own the second deluxe Sideswipe after donated first one (because hip lines can be break apart quite too easily). But this second time, I decided to solve this problem with Super Glue. Because, right from the first one, the more I posing it, more chance for those hip lines to break apart.

He's a totally new figure of the same character. No part is reused.

Also, the door wings should be folded up, to better match his look in the movie.

Lastly, is he stable with his wheels turned inward in robot mode? I imagine he would look more movie accurate that way.

things like the so called ARM KIBBLE are NOT kibble AT ALL as far as whats normally considered kibble! as in its NOT a toy version trade off to make it actually transform! IN THIS case the "kibble" is intact MOVIE accurate! and the doors acting like wings are also movie accurate! so i would suggest you better research the subject before you review

Ugh, vehicle mode is still really broken up. Not totally digging the red paint and windows. It seems every Sideswipe has a downside. Although the HA has a great vehicle mode, its robot mode is too disproportionate and kibbly. Original deluxe wasn't totally screen accurate and kibbly. This one has a great mold, but a faulty vehicle mode. I might get this guy for the fantastic robot mode, especially if he can lose the red paint.

I can't believe how different this is from the original, the arms are from the front and legs are from the back?! Its a totally different figure! Ish.... Its weird, the wheelfeet are a pain in the bum on the original, but they look better than those funny thin things he's got now... I'm not convinced. Nice review though chap!

Jesus, talk about flogging dead horse, or rather mold. At least they fixed the wheel feet and the two guns do actually look better than the blades IMO. Also, the side panels on the back in robot mode remind me of RID Sideburn.

The only thing I don't like about this guy is the red. I think with this guy and that alt mode, he should be either silver or red but, not both. I know they're trying to put a little bit of G1 Sideswipe in this toy but they're completely failing at it. They could have done a better job.
