Fantastic Movie.

The dream glasses-idea actually has it's counterpart in real-life, although they can't "record" your dreams. The react to REM-movements in the eye and wakes you up inside the dream so you can control it. Lucid Dreaming - it's great!

I have had many lucid dreams though, fantastic therapy. Someone shoots you, and you KNOW you can't die because you're asleep someplace else...

It wakes one up [sic] though, in relation to the dreamworld being a real dimension, with the people and creatures you encounter being REAL, just like you.

It blew my mind the first time I experienced it!!....

When it was over my husband and I looked at each other in awe, knowing we'd seen something special. We have the laserdisc, but I want the long version. How great is that soundtrack?!?!?

@TheGreatMerman - the film has never been released on dvd in North America, though there are Italian and German dvd versions. Anchor Bay Entertainment was going to release the dvd, but got sold and then dropped their interest in the Wenders catalog and nobody else has picked it up. Shame.

One would have to be immersed in the full movie so as to comprehend the depth of this. Having just recently (FINALLY) seen the "trilogy" or longer version of the movie, my awe has only increased for this masterpiece.

Because, the most of the people are mediocre, don't know anything about real movie art. I've watched that movie over 60 times and every time has been more beautiful. I also have dir.cut but it isn't fairy as the 156 minutes version. This is one of my favourite. I like old Wenders!

One of the many things great about this film is that it previewed gadgets to come, years before they were available and or perfected in North America. The handheld videophone, internet searching, vision through electrical impulses using goggles, GPS navigation and talking systems in cars, a 4/2 wheel motorcycle, which was only allowed in europe, not here for some reason,etc,,it's too bad she died in 07 from a heart attack, she partied too much they say...
