The dream glasses-idea actually has it's counterpart in real-life, although they can't "record" your dreams. The react to REM-movements in the eye and wakes you up inside the dream so you can control it. Lucid Dreaming - it's great!
@glynchandeliers No, I haven't. Been checking out prices though. If there's one piece of machinery I wish I had my hands (eyes!) on, it's this!
I have had many lucid dreams though, fantastic therapy. Someone shoots you, and you KNOW you can't die because you're asleep someplace else...
It wakes one up [sic] though, in relation to the dreamworld being a real dimension, with the people and creatures you encounter being REAL, just like you.
It blew my mind the first time I experienced it!!....
@Janzin1988 She's handcuffed to the door. They could remove the door, but had no way to cut off the cuffs. My god I love this movie. I saw it in the theater when it was originally released. When it was over my husband and I looked at each other in awe, knowing we'd seen something special. We have the laserdisc, but I want the long version. How great is that soundtrack?!?!?

@TheGreatMerman - the film has never been released on dvd in North America, though there are Italian and German dvd versions. Anchor Bay Entertainment was going to release the dvd, but got sold and then dropped their interest in the Wenders catalog and nobody else has picked it up. Shame.
@leandroearth i completely understand about the door of the plane as they looked so hot and sweaty and they never even thought of rolling the window down...GROAN..lmfao.
This movie is the best movie none but one of my friends ever saw. This scene in particular, with Peter Gabriel's In The Blood Of Eden sliding in, is cinematic perfection. One would have to be immersed in the full movie so as to comprehend the depth of this. Having just recently (FINALLY) seen the "trilogy" or longer version of the movie, my awe has only increased for this masterpiece.

i adore this version of blood of eden, but alas its not on the soundtrack....i guess since us came out around this time there were licensing issues....
why is it that most humans don't have the capacity to sit through this movie? i wish i had the director's cut. i adore the soundtrack. and um i totally seriously wish this movie had been done with that adaptation for descriptive video service for the blind. i'd love to work on that project, myself. appropriate, no? i heard this was the first movie ever shot in HD, true or not? lastly...when will we have this technology???
Because, the most of the people are mediocre, don't know anything about real movie art. I've watched that movie over 60 times and every time has been more beautiful. I also have dir.cut but it isn't fairy as the 156 minutes version. This is one of my favourite. I like old Wenders!
This is my favorite movie of all time! I wish I could find it in DVD in HD. Do you know the answer to your question? Is it the first movie ever shot in HD? I have always wondered why no one knows about this movie. Every once in awhile, I will search for this movie thinking that SURELY now that SOMEONE must have done ANYTHING with this movie. hoooo hummmmm
@pamelaEsoteric We are a lot of people who admire this movie and never will forget it. But for me Paris Texas and Wings of desire are even more heart breaking.
@pamelaEsoteric For this particular scene, I like the release version better. Blood of Eden starts when she says "they did it...", instead of cutting to the guys on the ground talking about Gorthe. Makes for a more solemn moment.
do you mean the Dr. Strangelove most people know about, or the one with the two pakistani orphans, the donkey, the spiked fist guantlett, the butt-plug painted like Grimace from McDonald's, and the lime-juice and salt enema?
Hi Pamela; this movie es absolutely powerfull, I adore it. Thougth this movie I discover Tolking Heads, amazing also. But infortunadely never could see it again.
I have the original dvd of the 3 hours version, too. I already ripped, but I'm making the pt-br subtitles before I share it.
I believe wenders wouldn't mind if we share this movie, cause it's his greatest movie, and people around the world don't know it. so, sharing it, more and more people can watch and thanks wenders for his amazing life work!!!
I've been searching for the soundtrack and the movie. No luck so far. Can you help? What year was it made? I love this movie and I lost the soundtrack.
Have you seen it on any of the torrent sites? I have always wondered why this version wasnt released. I used to have the soundtrack to this movie and I dont believe it was on there.
GOD all these years later this is still my all-time favorite film. I watch it still in its ENTIRETY at least once a month. What beautiful acting. What beautiful cinematography. What beautiful acting. PLEASE, whoever still has the rights to this, PLEASE release either an NTSC-friendly or Blu-Ray version of the FULL film on DVD! WE LOVE THIS, and by the way, we REALLY miss you, Solveig Dommartin. God took you from us WAY too early. Rest in peace, beautiful bird.
Until The End Of the World is for me too my favorite all-time movie. I have no word to describe the feeling watching this 3h long movie... such a splendid experience all times .... there was a release a few years ago on DVD ZONE 1 you can find it on Amazon, but we need another release please... ANd a word to WIm Wenders... I admire all of your work... but this movie specially.
if you watch the original theatrical trailer I've ripped from the original 3 hours version dvd viewing my videos. you can find a torrent file to the 281 (it's not 6 hours) minutes full version, with pt-br, english, french and spanish subtitles. you can find the original soundtrack too.
Indeed. This movie seems like a beautiful dream I had once and keep trying to remember. What's amazing is how many other people have had the same dream:)
It's not like other great movies, where people recount the amazing acting, cinematography, direction, etc.. there's a poetic spirit in this film. As if we cult fans saw a celestial phenomena one night.. and now we can't find it on DVD;)
A friend just got the DVD for me from Amazon, she didn't realize it was from Europe and a Region 2 PAL. I have converted it successfully, but need to get a DVD-DL to burn it. I love the movie and haven't seen it in over 15yrs. I can't wait!
One of the many things great about this film is that it previewed gadgets to come, years before they were available and or perfected in North America. The handheld videophone, internet searching, vision through electrical impulses using goggles, GPS navigation and talking systems in cars, a 4/2 wheel motorcycle, which was only allowed in europe, not here for some reason, etc,,it's too bad she died in 07 from a heart attack, she partied too much they say...
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I think it has poetry in every scene and the soundtrack is one of the most amazing compilations in rock history.
it was great,to have been old enough to remember and enjoy this film,i think the music made this film more desireable, thankyou x
