could handle the laser better. PSO was my first online game, but that also had a massive flaw in security allowing players to cheat, and cheat maliciously with the NOL'ing and whatnot, so the Dreamcast didn't exactly gain much from the online gaming part of itself except maybe Quake III Arena.

As much as I love my Dreamcast, it had a stroke of bad luck when it was released. First, the security. The security measures and copy-protection of the Dreamcast was flawed and wasn't corrected until close to its demise, but while it was still there people kept copying games and distributing them with ways on how to make your own games, so that caused a drop in sales. That and the GD-ROM format the games were in got scratched and damaged very easily from the laser, while the CD-Rs people copied

best console ever made, it was the first one who had internet gaming with mmorpg. (phantasy star online was the first game of this type on consoles!) it had, the best adventure game with sonic adventure, the best driving games with daytona and sega rally 2, the best fighting games with sould calibur, virtua fighter 3, ready to rumble, list go on, and on... those were not games. There was experiences, bad Sega abandoned it, shame on you, still I love you for what you gave me :)

@thisisother Well, I don´t think so, every console was pirated before, the PS much more than the dreamcast, how could it survive? Because Sega wanted to win the market by selling Dreamcast at a super low price (199 dolars) they made the GD-ROM system that can´t be copied because virgin GD-ROMS doesn´t exist! What Sega didn´t think was that they could rip the games on a CD, they should have studied the marketing a bit more, you can´t win all money with games only!

@TheIrateFan well the ps2 still had ratchet and clank, twisted metal, crash bandicoot, prince of persia, and that's pretty much i can remember for the first 2 years of ps2 that were great, and you're right sega gave up too early, especially since they ported all the dreamcast classics to ps2, xbox, and gamecube, it's like they didn't even try to sell the dreamcast, but instead just make it something that could have been good, but never gave it the chance

You know how many problems happened with the sega dreamcast on release day? In my oppinion, Sega has always been a "TRY HARD" system, always doing what they can to compete with nintendo...always failing. Sega CD, Sega 32x...and The sega saturn was way over priced..$500 on release? After so many failures they finaly stopped making systems.
