  • @TheLumleyboy Well Elvis had a psycho doctor who prolly killed him! He also wrote a psycho book about Elvis further smearing Elvis' image 32yrs after Elvis' death! The devil is greek and he's sad! XD

  • Musicians on this track are stellar. Great guitar work. Elvis was always motivated by great musicians. This is one of the best sounding videos I have heard on YouTube. Sounds like it was recorded yesterday.

  • I love love love this song, probably my favourite Elvis track. Great sound

  • I bet anyone who plays guitar or loves music, has at least one favorite Elvis song!!!............this one is mine!!!

  • @guitars71 In my opinion its a shame not to take Elvis to best guitarists list they do that all the time Eric is there Jimmy is no.1 as always they miss Elvis just because of his style maybe but this guy is equal to guitar in my book.

  • @aliihsanasl elvis is not a great guitarist, he's a preformer and he did not play guitar in this song. he had asked the writer, jerry reed to play, who recorded 'guitar man', 3 weeks before elvis covered it.

  • PÓta que pariu! Vai ser lindo assim aqui em casa. Lindo, anjo.. I love you

  • @peshteful Even Elvis said the BIG O was the greatest singer, but i agree ELVIS sounds like no one else, but i also agree with THE KING

  • @peshteful Wellll then you obviously never heard Jerry Reed sir

  • @mavler1

Well sir, with my respect i don't give a damn on Jerry Reed.

  • @peshteful

    of course except me.......ha,ha,ha

  • @peshteful You are absolutely right

  • @peshteful nobody's arguing

  • Jerry Reed wrote and recorded this (and US Male) in 1967. Elvis covered both in the same year, and used Jerry on both tracks. Reed also wrote and recorded a really funny piece about Elvis in the same year (Tupelo Mississippi Flash) which on You Tube.

  • GREAT GREAT SONG FROM THE ONLY KING FOREVER....BUT I SEE THAT THERE ARE SOME 20 FANS OF justin bieber AND lady gaga DON T WORRY FOR THEM THEY ARE LOST FOREVER.....RAFFI

  • @outtacastatv is is jerry doing that wonderful finger pickin'

  • @TRANSAM19777 No he isn't...elvis is

  • @TRANSAM19777 Noo...Elvis is laying the guitar

  • @outtacastatv Is it Jerry. Elvis wanted Jerry to play guitar on it, because noone else could play his guitar parts good enough.

  • jerry reeds versions better

  • @tuthill351 It's your opinion and I respect it (Elvis was not in a very creative time on his life, compare this performance to the '68 Special), but I'm sure If you asked Jerry before he died in 2008 the best memories in his life, I say recording with Elvis was one of them

  • @qqsomething i totally agree with that

  • Was this actually Elvis?

  • Jerry Reed also wrote the song - the other studio musicians couldn't get the feel of the song, so they went out to find Jerry, who was fishing on the Cumberland River. He made it to RCA Studio B in about 15 minutes and provided the groove the other guys (and producer Felton Jarvis) was looking for.

  • @ranhar1

Jerry Reed is one hell of a musician in his own right.

  • @4fingersinge Absolutely correct! You can tell that in the albums he made with Chet Atkins; also a great actor and movie producer, too ("BAT21").

  • dit is gewoon super.

hier kan niemand aan tippen,en dat zal ook nooit gebeuren.

  • jerry reed said, when he first met elvis at graceland.elvis opened the door to let him in !! jerry thought,GOSH ALMIGHTY!! first time i wished i was a woman!!!!

    jerry said....man he looked good!!!!

  • The band are truly great here.Great drumming too.

  • I saw this happen. Sitting in a fairly large room filled with many major and minor celebs, the door opened and in walked Elvis looking like 10 million dollars. Every head in the room turned to look at him! He didn't have to say anything but the air was filled with electricity; You could hear a pin drop. The MAN had arrived, and you couldn't help but stare. Whatever IT was Elvis had the market cornered!

  • @roadrulz Tom Petty tells the story of how he watched Elvis approaching and Elvis actually seemed to floating above the ground. True story! He was truly an "elevated" being and people were in awe!

  • killer track

  • Thanks for the post.

  • Guitar Man went to number 1in the UK.

  • @19GirlBad it only made number 19 in the uk

  • canta muito...

  • Love Elvis!

  • @teamsimon15 the best

  • elvis was one sexy ass man

  • There is just no substitute for a great Guitar player-despite the fact that a lot of people think they can play, and Guitars are everywhere, when you hear a real player-it is fantastic.

  • I suppose he didn't actually well play guitar but I like his guitar and music : )

  • well I quit my job down at the car wash and left my mama a good bye note :DD thats a calssic :D

  • One of my fav's.....

  • The only guy whos song remind me of Elvis is Billie Ray Cyrus

  • i like the original version better..hate the guitar on this..

  • I DON'T LIKE ELVIS' MUSIC - but no matter how old fashioned this sounds, THEY DON'T WRITE SONGS LIKE THEY USED TO. "wrote ma mama a goodbye note"

  • JERRY REED FOREVER!!!!!!

  • love this song

  • haha that's lyrics folks lol

  • Hook it Son!! Hook It!"! Man, you can't top Jerry Reed Son!! The Alabama Wild Man......featuring 'The King'!!

  • well i quit my jod down at the car wash an left my mama a goodbye note!<3

  • @BellaCeLeNdAnO job*

  • elvis is great.. but this is really jerry reed's song. he just seems to pull it off a lot better for me than elvis does. still great though

  • als,jy,het,niet,erg,vind,1uur,pause,moe,ik,ga,even,liggen,dan,ben,ik,fit,hony,echt,moe,korte,nacht,vroeg,op

  • thumbed down to panama city thats where i live :)

  • in my humble opinion ,elviss best,oh and little sister and promised land and and and,,,,

  • When Jerry Reed found out that Elvis wanted to record this song, he said that he "was over Elvis' house in 16 seconds!"

  • @JoeCar59 When the King calls everybody is right away on his way.

  • The King!!!!

  • elvis is the king and always will be fuck ya todays music not a patch on him so all you jokes who aint got a clue go give your heads a big wobble and shut it

  • In the age of Justin Bieber, Lady GAGA and American Idol, I surely do miss the King of Rock N Roll. Often copied but NEVER duplicated I will miss him forever. It pains me to think of all the music he still had left in him and we will never hear it...

  • @tequilasqueeze You mean Lady Gag-a.

  • I remember Elvis died in August '77... this tune was released AFTER his death. Kinda like an early Tupac.

  • @label1877 well he did do this song on his 68 comeback special.

  • everyone knows elvis is king enough said

  • great comeback elvis you showed them good

  • Elvis is a dick, he stole this song from Jerry Reed, the real king, I'm happy karma caught up with Elvis when he shat his guts out.

  • @CzechoslovakiaRules Elvis is the way better ..shut up fukinass

  • @CzechoslovakiaRules You`re a know nothing prick. Thanks for making it clear to everyone.

  • @CzechoslovakiaRules He stole this song? Jerry Reed helped Elvis record this song in the studio, so using a term like "stole" is disengenuous and inflamatory.

Elvis is KING, don't forget that. All your foul mouth BS and lack of respect doesnt change that.

  • do not know what I would listen to if Elvis was never born.

  • Elvis the King

  • Elvis I LOVE YOU MORE than MY LIFE.

  • The real music. So pure. Not that choreographic crap. Just a few guitars and drums and the greatest entertainer/singer of all time and you got music. Long live the King!

  • 10 PEOPLE COULD NOT PLAY A GUITAR VERY GOOD :)

  • @19mg94 Neither could Elvis, he had to get Jerry Reed to come in to play on it.

  • god bless your soul king

  • great stuff...

  • THE MOST WONDEFUL MAN IN THE WORLD ELVIS THE KING ...ALL YOU BABE

  • @tere090576

You don't know me !!! lol

    Aaron from France

  • @tere090576 You got that right ...Aussie R.I.P EP ..

  • Jerry Reed!

  • Jerry Reed didn't play in this version.

  • @dacordova If Jerry didn't play in this version, I'm sorry. However, I believe he did. Elvis was recording "Guitar Man" for RCA when his session musicians were having trouble duplicating the Jerry Reed lick. They asked how are we going to get the Jerry Reed sound? The producer (I think Felton Jarvis) said get Jerry Reed.

In an interview, Jerry was called to the studio and played the guitar on that session.

  • even though they tried, Jerry never gave up his publishing on this song to the powers that be that governed Elvis's music, they tried to tell him that the song was not going to be released at all if Reed did not give up the "customary" 1/3 writing credit and the 1/2 publishing credit

  • Comment removed

  • Whatever may be said of Elvis at whatever stage of his career aside this much is true: at his very core he was a blues and R&B singer and this he could do as well as man or woman who lived to sing. RIP.

  • Is that Elvis playing the solo?

  • @duffmasterofpuppets

If you listen, you can tell it's Jerry picking his catgut Baldwin. As the other posters say, there's a lot of talent on this recording, not least Elvis and Jerry the Alabama wild man.

  • truly the king..... (end of....)

  • Elvis Presley heard "Guitar Man" by Jerry Reed (who wrote and recorded the song) and wanted to record it himself. However, the staff musicians at RCA (Elvis' label) couldn't get the guitar licks right on the song. In frustration, they wondered "How are we going to get the Jerry Reed sound"? Answer: Get Jerry Reed. So RCA called Jerry and told him to come down to the studio and play guitar for the song. BTW, Jerry also recorded for RCA.

  • Ever seen a film called Let Him Have It? What music did kids have before Bill Haley and this guy? Wheel of Fortune? I'd have shot myself...

  • ELVIS is THE BEST

P.S.(I think if MGM was inspired from this song...?)))

  • Elvis would have been great rapper. It would have been another genre that he mastered.

  • @jvidr Fuck rap

  • @jvidr get that rap shit out of here son.

  • @jvidr rap is not music,.. its mostly people talking about themselves, no emotion, no message, nada (like i give a crap)..i can't relate to rap in anyway, i don't see the attraction

  • fabulous

  • only the very best (king)

  • CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is for sure one of my favourite songs ever recorded by Elvis. I also sing it, friends. Take a look. I hope you like it.

  • Wish it had video but awesome song

  • ELVIS.... JUST ELVIS... IS THE MAN

  • First I just have to admit I am not an Elvis fan. When he is good he is great. When he is off he is way off. This is an example of when he is on fire, great job on the vid and a great song to jam to. Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks for the pics. What a beautiful guy

  • Memories of Summer' 85. My Dad came into my bedroom with a bunch of Elvis's discs... Thanks, Dad! xxx

  • The KING looked his best on 1968 special, and DEFINATELY, the 1973,ALOHA frm. Hawaii!!!

  • Elvis in all his movies, and in person never played guitar, the few times I seen him do it, he missed cords.

He was a great singer, but could not play guitar!

  • I'm not a big Elvis fan...But i do love a song with a story.

  • EP is great, but he was backed by great talent also. Jerry Reid, was a gifted musician, he started playing the gat the age of 7. He thanks Chet Atkins for his fame and success, Maybe its my age, but there is no new music in this style coming thru these days. Maurajs thanks for posting this.

  • @ballyquillanboy Thank you and everybody else who has comment and rate this beautifull song and artist :)

  • @ballyquillanboy

yes your credit to mr Reid and Atkins is spot on both, very influential talents. This is a cracking little number....

  • @ballyquillanboy You're right, Jerry Reed did play...just not on this session.

  • @ballyquillanboy Check out Imelda May, you will like her!!

  • @ballyquillanboy Totally Agree!! My wife was related to "EP"!! Believe it or Not? She IS!!

  • thumbs up to who ever agrees that elvis looked his best at that come back special?????????????????. godbless and thank ya very much.

  • I like this and Elvis rox

  • Purrty Goddamn sure Mr. Jerr' Reed played the gee-tarr on this li'l ol' number...

  • Elvis Presley Forever

  • His songs still warm my heart

  • The King is always impressive.

  • Love this song! Thanks Jerry Reed for writing it and letting Elvis sing it. This song has the most awsome beat with some bluegrass undertones. Love it!

  • me & My Grandm0ther used 2 watch this 2gether. reminds me 0f g00d mem0ries. ty 4 p0stin. :)

  • This is great! Thanks you very much for putting it on for us..every time I hear Elvis I want to head to Vegas. Bright light Big city,,He was the man..

  • This is Music!

    Greets From Amsterdam!

  • Nobody could have picked this except Jerry Reed- Elvis did a great Job singing the lyrics as always, but that HAS to be Jerry Reed picking on this record. Does anyone if Reed for sure did the picking on this recording?

  • @KLUNKET

Search for "Jerry Reed 2006 interview Part 2" and hear the story from the man himself at the 1:14 mark.

  • when Elvis did his first reconding of this song in Nashville Jerry Reed was the guitar for him

  • The No.1 Elvis song for me.

  • @TheMoDonKey I like the song very much, but I really like Always on my Mind even better. Any King song is good though. Peace Monkey!!!

  • Are sure it wasn't James Burton on guitar?

  • Viva Jerry Reed!

  • wow, he pretty well did it exactly like jerry reed, or jerry did it exactly like elvis. who's playing the guitar on this track? because it sounds exactly like the recording of jerry doing it with different vocals.

  • @jessupar should have read the comments before i posted that hah. oh well.

  • @jessupar jerry reed of course

  • Damn I'm playing this on vinyl 24/7

  • I really rate this track and it's a good piece of country. I always thought Elvis should have gone over to country like Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis did.

  • i mean cmon listen to this song and it must explain why elvis is one of the best artists ever alive

  • @esbramakopf Except Jerry Reed, who played the guitar on this because Elvis couldn't get it right.

  • @MXHondas230 yea i know haha

  • elvis live

  • Elvis asked for Jerry Reed, as was mentioned earlier. Jimmy shows up, sits down and says to Elvis "you're about the prettiest thing I ever seen, kind of wish I was a girl right now!" This is a true story.
