@pmacgaul fat-ass pocket he's creating there. i was just looking at the credits for 'magic touch' and noticed that al dimeola is credited as the producer, and also plays cymbals on a track, interesting!
Best damned tap/touch guitarist on the planet, a true virtuouso. If only he and Bob Culbertson (the other virtuouso, on Chapman Stick) could get together and have children.
I always remember seeing him in the movie Blind Date with Bruce Willis & enjoying the scene where he plays. Does anyone know the name of the song he plays in the film so I can search for a video of him playing the full version cos in the movie you only get a little taste of what sounds like a really nice song.
Tosin abasi for sure would be this guys predecessor! if anybody reads this check out CAFO the song and watch the whole video so that you see the tapping parts.check out animals as leaders and then go on the cafo video
you know what, it's weird that i keep seeing "amazing grace guitar" rather than "amazing guitar tapping" but then it hit me, that my brain is actually saying that this is AMAZINGly GRACEful guitar tapping. :) I can't understand though how two hand tapping works for now but i sure will find out how in the future. :D
@malikamakamuki - You've got that right. If I'm not mistaken it's Will Lee. He's great. This might not be your cup of tea, but I really like his groovin on "Second That Emotion" with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir on Letterman, if you search for it's here on youtube.
@slgordon3 You were not mistaken, thank you. Also, you're right; The Dead were never my cup of tea (& I am from that age group). But I looked up Will Lee & feel stupid that I didn't realize he was a regular on Letterman with the other master, Paul Schafer. If you like good bass, look up Alex Moran "Mr. Bass Man" on youtube, a great yet little known artist.
I should mention that this piece is called "Street Talk", as I read some comments and I see some of you are wondering. Also, I know Stanley was on Letterman in 1988, and the album on Letterman's desk is Flying Home, which was released in 1988, so that would certainly seem to be the right year for this...

@FBInternational2011 No. Hendrix only made "eletric" the style of playing of Robert Johnson. Without Robert Johnson, nothing of this would ever happen. Hendrix was a consequence of the evolution of the guitar to it's eletric parts, AND Les Paul inventions. Without Les Paul there would have been years and years, maybe decades before musicians could ever use multi-recording.
Also, Jazz is a lot more complex than Rock. Tapping with 2 hands is more a lot more difficult than tapping with 1.
