BUT I do not believe that it was necessary in forcing him to recant in order to reabilitate him. Holocaust denial, though wrong, is not a violation against the catholic faith and I personally have a big problem with non-catholics telling the church what it can and cannot do.

I think it's pretty sick that a high-ranking official in any Church denies the Holocaust. However, Williamson's excommunication had absolutely nothing to do w/ Holocaust denial - nor does his reinstatement. The issue of excommunication is an entirely internal church matter. The former Hitler Youth Pope has every right to re-admit or exclude whoever he wants. and it's pretty clear that this Pope doesn't really care what anyone else thinks - just like a certain ex-president.
