This is benign and irrelevant claptrap; an utterly nugatory fusion of 70s prog and black metal that the Hot Topic kids will just gobble up. If you listen to this band, do the world a favor: buy a chain wallet with skulls on it and hang yourself.
been listening to opeth for about 3 years now. the older i get/ the more i listen to them the more i understand them/ fall even more in love with the music. No matter where my music taste takes me i will NEVER stop loving this fucking band :))
Reminding me those awesome days I used to live in Oulu, Finland... Now being in Massachusetts, I am missing every single moment I spent there while listening to Opeth songs. All of them are excellent, w/o doubt!
@pierredavid7 Speaking of the lyrics, this song has always intrigued me as to what it pertains to. Any idea woh or what they're about? At any rate, this is one song that truely inspired me to write melancolic music.
@TheOmegaeyes I think it's about someone close to you dying. But to me, my personal perception of the song is about love. This song hits my heart in a way that very few songs can, almost to the point of tears.
@jmatts78 You're reply comes at a very ironic time as I just lost my grandmother two days ago. I actually heard that about this song as well. R.I.P., love you gram!
@LyricsArFun I'd say Blackwater Park. I bought this album first on a whim, and really enjoyed it. Then Blackwater Park was the second album i bought, and this does not prepare you for the immense riffs, growls and general metal of Blackwater Park. Thats a better one to start with to get a proper feel for how Opeth work.
@LyricsArFun One good song from each album, representative I think Orchid: The Apostle in Triumph Morningrise: Advent My Arms Your Hearse: Amen Corner Still Life: Godhead's Lament Blackwater Park: The Drapery Falls Deliverance: Wreath Damnation: Windowpane Ghost Reveries: Ghost of Perdition Watershed: Hessian Peel These are not their best songs but rather ones I think best represent their respective albums. Other people will have different opinions but give these ones a listen
@duvenbook123 their intro of every song its so boring, their voice and guitar are fucking wasted time, compared to real bands and real musicians like death, slayer, sepultura, this band are nothing.
@Xnothinbetter2dewX its not only the solo or thath, its the feelig, the agressive, the atmosphere of the music,, i agrre on the solos of slayer, but still have the thing thath opeth isnt, ophet its a crap bro, open your eyes, never be recognized in the music for a good reason(its a crap)
@latvet those bands are great bands, dont get me wrong. but just because opeth isnt the same style and u dont like the music, doesnt mean its bullshit..... i dont like dream theatre, but i respect their musicianship.
@duvenbook123 well you have right, its true, every person have a different point of view, but ask to the people and mostly answering you the same thing than me,but any way music its music.
@sbrakobraun si entiendes español entonces entenderas esto: ve y chinga tu madre 100 veces,y no te metas puto,y no soy español soy mexicano,y el que no meguste este mugrerito no quiere decir que sea ignorante, seguramente ni entendiste lo que dije, if you dont understand tell me and i explain you, pero metete tu opeth por donde te quepa italiano pendejo.

@latvet This is Real music bro....Emo shit is completely different. You wont hear any of these new Rock bands sound anything like Opeth. Their Diversity of their music and tones is something very few bands have ever been able to accomplish successfully. Much Props to Opeth. Im not Dissin you bro, but you need to get up on your music genre's. Your way off.
@theripper4394 bla bla blabla composition, who cares its a crap only with afeminated voice only and 1 hour of boring intro of mediocre acoustic guitar, dont lie mtf.
@biznatchman2 no,it's not like that but.. uhm, it's just a little harder to explain what I mean. Listening to other Opeth album, it was like leaving, suffering, dreaming. You could feel everything you had done in your life like it could came back, even in your memories. And nothing was more important than to feel alive. I met Opeth in the 2001 and 2003, spent all the two evenings with them before a concert: they can always move my feelings, but I don't feel anything with these two last albums :(
@moonchildalone damn, it's funny you should say that- i mean, first of all, my sympathies, but- i actually get exactly what you described- emotion, flashbacks, by far the most out of songs like Hessian Peel and The Lotus Eater...!
@pantalaemon I think nobody can really say what ART is, we speak about personal emotions, personal feelings, according to life each of us has lived. I listen to Opeth since 1995, I wan very young (15) and I grew up with them. Can't write here, but they were with me in the worst evening I ever lived in my life and I'm sure I'm not wrong if I say that I'm alive thanks to them. If Music can move feelings, if a melody can touch your heart deeply, then we speak about ART!That's EXACTLY what Opeth are!
@moonchildalone I feel you man. Its Art. Its magic to me, the simple fact of being able to hear something that can touch your soul, and cause you to view life in a different perspective. Its not about how many albums you sell or about how much money you make. ITs about how many peoples lives you touch, and hearts you uplift with your music. Long Live Opeth
i just took a "Which opeth song are you?" test on fb. it says that tim hope leaves. i had enver paid enough attention to this song, but now im pretty sure that i wrote it. XD
What the hell is the overlay of the chick's voice starting at 3:17? It's only for that one little part, then it's gone. Anyone know or have any ideas?
@Leonhart231 sounds like he threw on a bit of distortion... I made a setting on my Garageband that sounds kind of like this, it has a light amp simulator and some bright distortion
@Leonhart231 He used an equalizer and probably cut out some bass and boosted the middle. This I am sure of. He might have used something else but I can't tell you.
theseguys are sick. I am not into the death metal stuff as much tho it is insanely good for death metal, but the softer stuff is freaking nuts. reminds me of a modern metal pink floyd. at least in the sense of the different directions they go.
@InfamousDominion Well done my friend...I was going to suggest you do something with more of the scenic experience their music invokes and less of the band. You've done a fine job with this vid though. Thank you! I'm tired of people focusing on the bands rather than the scenic inspired.
i love listening to songs like this...it reminds me of how amazing a band can be if they put their mind to it,which bands like opeth do on every one of their albums and live performances:)
