Love Boston's we just rescued one and he is seriously the sweetest dog, we found him a new home and I'm probably gonna cry when he goes ): he has really connected to me
My boston, Trapper, was the first dog I ever had as a kid. Second only to my Golden Retriever Nikki, the most memorable canine I've ever had the pleasure of owning. As a kid, he was my best friend, unconditionally there for me whenever I was having a tough time. Some of the best memories I have were because of this dog
I have the laziest Boston Terrier xD He's not the cutest thing ever but I love Bishop so much <3 He's also probably the only Boston Terrier that doesn't like swiming LOL he used to but he almost drowned himself once o_o

I have a boston terrier named princess she's 9 know her birthday is on christmas and she's a hero. 2008 octuber, my grandpa was going to work doing third shift. so a couple minutes later my dog princess starts barking at my door and jumping on my lap.I told her to be quiet because she's over protective. so finally my mom goes to open the door my grandpa was on the ground having a stroke. If my dog didn't barked my grandpa would of been dead before we knew. I love my princess
I love my boston terrier Chloe. Shes so sweet. She'll be 3 months old soon! She's red and white with beautiful markings :) Only 4 lbs! She's smart, she knows how to open the gate we have lol :) She has been a breeze to train, she knows where to go to the 'potty' but has accidents here and there. She sleeps a lot! She snores, gets the hiccups, and will whine if your on the couch and she's not, but no farting! She hates baths! She loves the neighbor's kids and snuggles:)
I just rescued a Boston Terrier and he has a bad habit of eating poop I can't seem to break. I give him puppy stool eating preventative, and a doggy stress tabs and a multivitamin and he is very well fed he has gained 5 pounds since August so I don't know how to break him of it, others told me it was the breed so does anyone else have this problem? Also his eyes stay bloodshot, and someone told me theirs does that too, is that normal? We tease him and have a joke about hash-brownies (treats)
@handsofheaven88 My dog did the same thing, a lot of the times animals that do that don't fully digest their food so when they poo it's like another meal. It's very nasty to say the least lol but in time I'm sure your dog will grow out of it. My Boston also has the bloodshot eye, it's relative to the breed. They call it "cherry eye" and it comes and goes.
Thank you! Well, I will get him digestive enzymes and see if that helps, that makes total sense bc he throws up alllll the time if he drinks water too fast or eats too fast. I have poop deterrent for him and I forget to give it to him sometimes and we start the process all over again. I do stick with the routine of giving them soft food every morning for breakfast if I give it to him then with the enzymes I shouldnt forget anymore, but its my fault not his
If you've ever met a mean Boston, there is a reason for it whether it be the owner (likely) or something that has happened to it in its past. Their hearts are good, but like any normal person or boston, one event can screw that up--it is incredibly irregular to meet a mean Boston. That being said, I love my Boston more than anything!!! Sweetest, most stubborn pup out there! :)
I totally agree, and a lot of times even though they are mistreated they are still loving,. My Boston was abused before I rescued him. He has been through enough to kill a person, let alone a dog, he almost died after a huge dog attacked him and we are his 8th home. He is so very loving, a little dumb, but very loving and I am so glad I gave him a chance and made up my mind to keep him, he has changed so much already and he is home for good.
also I forgot to mention that he is only a year or two old according to his teeth. When the adoption agency told me we that many people brought him back and he'd bounced around that much who adopted him, it broke my heart knowing he was that young, and how confused he must be, and I thought of a child in foster care so I made up my mind, he can act out all he wants but this is his home, we didn't give up on my pug rescue and he is an amazing dog now.
@handsofheaven88 That is an incredible story! Kudos to you for rescuing a dog all the way!!! Bostons were not made to be mean dogs, and they love unconditionally! I'm sure he'll get smarter, like you said he's young, but Im sure he'll grow up to be wonderful just as your pug did :)
The "taking in air when they eat" causing gas comment is absurd. Swallowing air does not make you fart. A fart is not normal air, but gas produced by bacteria in the GI tract. My Bostons rarely fart on their normal dry dog food diet, but often fart when fed just about anything else. It's a digestion issue.
@bizichyld There are more than one cause, dogs are different than people, so it is possible that the air they take in while eating causes gas. It's like drinking soda, the carbonation and the air bubbles make us burp. Also, people who force themselves to burp do so by swallowing air. Now it is strange how that may cause farting but I'm sure there's a more reasonable explanation to support it.

One of mine had bloody diarrhea all night and was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. I guess dogs often die from the dehydration if it is not treated promptly, though Stella recovered after a night in the hospital and about $1000. Wondering how common this is with Bostons.
@UrbanVapo My boston HATES the cold. I would suggest that you invest in either a doggy coat/sweater and/or snow booties for the BT. This way, your dog can stay warmer longer outside to play or walk. Just remember not to keep them out for long periods of time-your BT will get sick and that's no fun :(
Boston Terriers are AMAZING dogs! My Orion and Mini Thor loved to go riding and swimming. Each year for Christmas, they got bones and a basketball (which didn't last maybe a few hours totoal) They LOVED to play chase and "hunt" you down in a bean field. All they ever wanted was to sleep under the cover, love and lots of play. Rip Orion and Mini

@TeeJr0428 I had that dilemma once but I chose Boston and don't regret it. They're really smart while pugs tend to be more independent and a little harder to train.
@MadMaddieCat I wouldn't trade my boy in for anything. We have managed to live through the farting thus far and will continue to do so. Its a trade for cuteness, love and cuddles. I still think that we have the better part of the deal even with the farts, snoring and the deadly deadly farts...yes...they are different than the regular farts.

@joeychiba22 You wont be disappointed. They are some of the best dogs to have around and they are part of the family. They will share the bed, the couch and the front seat of your car if you let them lol. They love hugs and kisses and are so very dedicated to loving you.
@papia1111 Open my dogs mouth and release the suction she had swallowed her tounge and was passing out and turning blue from lack of oxygen. I believe pugs have the same fits due to the short nose. They also fart a lot i mean eye watering wake you up in the middle of the night gagging farts. it gets worse if you feed them table scraps but no matter what you feed them they fart a bunch so be warned. A good way to tell when one is going to be bad is when the dog jumps up and bolts for the door lol
@papia1111 Yes i have known many people who have a Boston and a Pug just as common is a Boston with a Pit Bull they get along great with other dogs though i caution you about having two unfixed females. Female Bostons that aren't fixed can like Pit Bulls get dominant aggressive towards other females. If properly socialized they can get along great especially if raised together. Same with unfixed males they can get aggressive around other unfixed males but are generally more laid back than....
@papia1111 than females. You have to remember that these are little dogs that think they are Great Danes and Pit Bulls and they can take anything on though. Some of my Bostons have sent Pit Bulls running hilarious to watch but not a good thing when you don't know the dog. Bostons have different personalities though there are some core traits that certain dogs have. You have the lazy laid back bostons, they hyper puppy all their life bostons, Shy almost fearful bostons and then all in between.
@papia1111 It really depends on the dog i have two females that grew up together and got along great but the minute we brought another female in the fights started. The other female was a rescue and while great with male dogs attacked female dogs the moment she saw them we think that was a socialization issue as she had been on the streets running with a pack of dogs for months before someone managed to catch her and then only because she got tick paralysis. Where i live, in summer the temperature varies from 25C to 35C
and in winter its from 5C to -10C
i guess in the summer its less likely to overheat but what about walking a boston terrier in winter?

@MadMaddieCat I wouldn't trade my boy in for anything. We have managed to live through the farting thus far and will continue to do so. Its a trade for cuteness, love and cuddles. I still think that we have the better part of the deal even with the farts, snoring and the deadly deadly farts...yes...they are different than the regular farts.

@papia1111 Open my dogs mouth and release the suction she had swallowed her tounge and was passing out and turning blue from lack of oxygen. I believe pugs have the same fits due to the short nose. They also fart a lot i mean eye watering wake you up in the middle of the night gagging farts. it gets worse if you feed them table scraps but no matter what you feed them they fart a bunch so be warned. A good way to tell when one is going to be bad is when the dog jumps up and bolts for the door lol

@papia1111 Yes i have known many people who have a Boston and a Pug just as common is a Boston with a Pit Bull they get along great with other dogs though i caution you about having two unfixed females. Female Bostons that aren't fixed can like Pit Bulls get dominant aggressive towards other females. If properly socialized they can get along great especially if raised together. Same with unfixed males they can get aggressive around other unfixed males but are generally more laid back than....

@papia1111 than females. You have to remember that these are little dogs that think they are Great Danes and Pit Bulls and they can take anything on though. Some of my Bostons have sent Pit Bulls running hilarious to watch but not a good thing when you don't know the dog. Bostons have different personalities though there are some core traits that certain dogs have. You have the lazy laid back bostons, they hyper puppy all their life bostons, Shy almost fearful bostons and then all in between.

@papia1111 It really depends on the dog i have two females that grew up together and got along great but the minute we brought another female in the fights started. The other female was a rescue and while great with male dogs attacked female dogs the moment she saw them we think that was a socialization issue as she had been on the streets running with a pack of dogs for months before someone managed to catch her and then only because she got tick paralysis. Still good family dogs that like
