this is the only bit of this film ive seen but going by this madonna's direction is appalling. a bad director will simply bore you, but it takes a combination of serious ineptness and overambitious arrogance in a director to have you constantly cringing at what they're doing throughout a scene. i suppose i should be pleased for gogol bordello getting that paper though

There are other clips on YouTube that are better. I also hate this scene, but it is actually supposed to be ridiculous because the spank-ee is paying the others for the privilege. Several of the other scenes are really charming and well-acted.

its actually not at all what I expected, somewhat interestingly quirky. There are slight shades on early John Waters about, a little random, absurd, a touch of pantomime. I'd need to see more of it, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I never thought she would make one of those "13 Going On 30" type films, judging from the movies see tends to watch, but I didn't envision her going so left of centre as she has. I wait to see the whole before passing full judgment, but it looks alright to me.

Asside from my MASSIVE CRUSH on the actor who plays the transvestite (because he's an absolutely magnetic person) this film is (and I know you worked hard on it M., clearly devoid of depth and purpose. You can't paste together a bunch of contrived, hacknied aphorisms and expect a worthy film to manifest. People aren't actually like this.

You could be right...but let's actually watch it first. It had a great review from the Times and other positive ones (The Hollywood Reporter was mixed but positive), and IndieWire said the audience generally liked it. We'll see.
