I think that this guy has a great blues tone. But there isn't just one blues tone. everyone has a different taste. check out my tone lesson and you can get a similar tone, but you dont need a tube amp to achieve it.
I own an Ibanez s520ex and a Marshall Valvestate 65W....i play blues all the day long but my guitar doesn't sound bluesy.....I know that an Ibanez isn't exactly the right guitar for the blues but I really can't find a bluesy tone...help!!!
Wow, Brian plays SO well, and has a really good knowledge of how to accomplish great tones by using all of his options with pickup switching, tone pot control, volume control and various stomp boxes.
I own a custom and standard with an awesome curly maple top. Best top I have seen on any standard and I have seen about 20 of them. Anyway, I agree on the knobs. An antique looking gold type knob would look much cooler. Still, I love these guitars. The Standard is a bit brighter than the custom and it has a bit more bite and output. The classic was the thinnest sounding of all and I returned that one. The Koa looks sweet but I can not afford any more for now!
Love my Walnut custom! Would love another... but waiting for a look that I like as well. (Hate the red, white is to typical) would love a yellow-ie white with aged parts giving it a old retro look. (aged pick guard etc.... on say the lower end model. (solid-solid). I'd buy one up in a sec.
Only thing I dislike - I REALLY REALLY REALLY dislike the knobs. Very cheezy... not up to Taylor quality... I'd much rather see a oldish golden know or some very retro looking lampshade style knob.

can you get a pedal which adds the heavy electric sound to an acoustic amp? if so what one would you recommend?
(I know the sound won't be as good but I'm trying to conserve the price)

That's a nice guitar - but not ideal for blues. I'd consider trading in for a Les Paul or an ES-335 type guitar... good luck friend!

I expected more from Taylor, but I have to agree its a great first try. However, I am very displeased.

Looks a lot like a guitar that Gretsch made back in the 70's called the BST or Beast.
