This is amzing! I'm doing "Volcanos" for my science fair project here at school. So this really helps. Because I'm doing all diffrent types, kinds, shapes, and they way every volcano acts. Attcually, guizerz are really a volcano, a diffrent type of volcano. Hehehe. But, were you scared you might get sucked into the lava too? I'm in grade 6 but I'd probobly cry. Lol!
@AmieRocks11 With some experience, one can tell where the low spots are which the flow will follow and stay safely out of its way. The Kilauea flows are relatively slow and one can outwalk them most of the time. If they are coming down steep slopes at a fast clip, then it is better to view them from the side and alway have an avenue of escape if there is a sudden change.
How can you tell what is rock and what is just slightly cooled lava? cause like, it i would suck to step somewhere and have your foot go into a puddle of lava....
If lava is not moving it will form a thick and very strong crust almost immediately. I have thrown large rocks at the crust to get it to break and they just bounce off. I have hit it with my metal walking stick and it doesn't break. So although there might be liquid lava under the crust, it will support tremendous weight.
It moves sooooo fast!! o____________O

The heat keeps me at a safe distance, but my exposed face and hands feel sunburned for a few days.

Do you have any new video of it going through Royal Gardens?
Sagebrusher07 4 years ago
No, too many people there already. News choppers, civil defense, USGS, tourists, etc. Maybe after it settles down.
