What in the world are people thinking when they're upset someone is expressing themselves in art? People don't fit into only one slot in life (beauty guru, photographer, etcetera), and they shouldn't. It's very disheartening sometimes to see photographers online behaving as though they're an exclusive club...art isn't that. It never should be.
i've taken alot of photography classes, and idk if because its plastic the rules are different , but at least for normal camera's its better for the camera to keep the lens on whenever your not using it.
I think this shows awesome depth to you, Elle. Us girls can do anything! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do what you want. They're just jealous!

i think people are just frustrated by the fact she is a beginner, lomography has been around for ages and i think the fact that elle has so many subscribers and viewers and the fact she has publicised it on youtube, it take away the special-ness of lomography, its more like a piece of art than just i photo and by someone who is "main-stream" as it were, talking about a style of photography that has its own community behind it seems alien to some people, i however like these videos, so keep it up
the snowcat diana is based off this south Korean artist and her drawings of her cat, Naong. I can't read Korean but I like to see the pictures of him... so cute. He has a youtube channel too - snowcathome :D

Elle! I just ordered the Mr Pink Diana F+!! So excited for it to arrive. I got a couple of different 120mm films to last until I invest in the 35mm back - which I really want to get. Aswell as the instant back. I looked up what Fuji film the instant back takes and found some really cute special editions Fuji released on ebay... Like Hello Kitty, Pooh Bear, Disney Princesses, Mickey Mouse. There are heaps. Just search: fuji instax mini film under 'film cameras' and they all come up!!
It's not the camera that makes a good photographer. It's the person pulling the trigger who makes a good photo. A good photographer can make the most wonderful pictures with the most crappy camera. So no worries. Experimenting with cameras is the whole idea of being a photographer... in any way. ;)
As a beginner, I would rather watch a video by a slightly more experienced beginner rather than a professional or really experienced person. A beginner will remember to point out all the things that a beginner should know, whereas a professional would probably just confuse me. In conclusion, thanks for the video!

I'm a pro. photographer (freelance), but I respect those who love it as a hobby or are still learning...I mean, hey I still learn new things about photography ever day and I've been doing it for over 10 years now. I don't claim to be an 'expert' because I know I'm not. I just may a bit more of the technical side, than hobbyists or beginners and I'm happy to help them out where I can....Love the camera btw, I love retro style things and the colour is cute!
You should take pics with the different settings and show the examples of what they look like. It would give a visual example of what the camera can do! Thx for the video
i went into american eagle and there was a book of a whole bunch of dfferent kindsof cameras and i immediately searched for the diana plus and when i found it there when examles of pictures you can take and they're really pretty! & i looove your hair like that :)
I love collecting cameras! haha Im not great at photography, but its a hobby, some people need to get over themselves- because people are free to buy cameras and use them however they want too! Love you Elle!!

I'm a girly, princess girl. i work as a princess for a party company, i have hello kitty and disney princess merchandise to create my own store.....but i am a huge transfomers fan!. I am amazed that you know all of this stuff. I just have a kodak camera and all I know what to do is simple stuff and the panoramic shots. I can't believe how easy you make this stuff seem! xD
I'm a photographer, and I appreciate your videos. I think it's great for someone who is an amateur to teach others the basics; sometimes it's a bit easier, because you're used to using layman's terms.
And just FYI, you only have to worry about your film going through the airport x-ray scanner if it's 800 ISO or higher (which are all professional films, so you won't have a problem).
I hate the fact that you have to state you're not a professional or whatever why can't people just ever be nice and not so rude. I can not believe people have been saying you're unintelligent. You know so much about this stuff even if you are not a professional. Love these videos, love you :)
I am buying one of these ligit Picking one now since I heard u talk about it first I have been saving up. In dollars it sounded quite cheap but I thought it would be more in the uk but actually they are pretty reasnobal for an on trend camera that you can do lots with . @Rubealicious it is called a toy camera because it is made entirely out of plastic, even the lens. the cheap plastic means more light leaks which is what makes the photos look vintage.
I used to be super worried about film going through airports too actually, but I just wanted to say in my personal experience my film was fine going directly through the xray scanner. I had probably 6-10 rolls go through 4-5 different xrays and they all were fine. You never know though!
Honestly, it upsets me that you have to defend yourself on this hobby and the camera you chose. I bet half these "photographers" who are commenting aren't photographers, they're probably people who bought an SLR and think that makes them a professional photographer. I am, a photographer, semi pro, with training and regular paid jobs. I admire your interest in this art form. If you love it do it. I personally really want a lomo , ESPECIALLY after seeing your videos on them! let us see pics pls!
WHY ARE YOU EXPLAINING YOURSELF? You don't have to explain to ANYONE why you like something or why you do photography. Photography is not just a profession it is an art and pretty much everyone likes some sort of photography. It's part of life. Elle, would you recommend the Diana to a beginner to film photography? I think it would be really cool to try to play with. But is it worth the money?
I'm really excited about this series as photography's one of my hobbies! Don't let people rain on your parade.The people who are harking on about how you're not a professional and don't have a right to talk about this stuff need to pull their heads out of their ***es. Anyone has a right to talk about something that interests them regardless of their experience level. People are jealous you have a wider audience than them whom you might influence,but the more people get into photo'ing the better!
To save time you should get an older boyfriend with alot of stuff and ask him questions about all of it, and ask him about your stuff too. You'll learn more. And try Koni Omega, or Omega Rapid, in 120 film from Ebay. Old wedding cameras. Do you want to have a baby?
It's not really a "toy" camera. Pros used to use them for soft focus pictures. Film photography is 100% out if you asked me. I use digital and have a Nikon D1 & D1H. Hard and heavy to use. I also have a Sony Bloggie 8GB w/usb which also erases pictures easily and videos.
There were always a few beauty gurus that I loved to watch.. And you were one of them.. You are really sweet and you are such an inspiration to me and to my videos.. I'm actually doing dermatology beauty videos but I think that without this beauty community I would have never ended up here on youtube.. Please thumbs up so she can see it <3

@ChorChar Well I'll be honest and say and still haven't got the film developed yet even though I have had it nearly a year. But I must say I have never had a problem with advancing the film. It seems to stop on its own when advanced enought xx
@ShopTillYouDrop009 I don't understand why some people get all defensive over Elle. Last time I checked, saying in a not-rude way that certain videos are kind of boring to watch isn't anything to get upset about. Ian a fan of Elle's videos and am just giving her feedback.
I've been thinking of getting one of these cameras since you first mentioned it Elle! Thanks for the more in depth review. I've also been told that it's best to keep your film in your carry on. The x-ray machines at the airport won't ruin it, but keep it out of your checked bags. The machines that they put the checked luggage through are stronger and could ruin it.
Thanks for making this new series. I just recently got into photography as well and it's a lot of fun. I think it's great you're making these videos because you have a lot of younger viewers and it's nice for them to know they can have more than one hobby.
you should do a video with pictures you have taken on different settings so we can get a visual look at how things work! i like these videos! maybe wait another month though before you do ur next one

God, you are obiously not a proffesionell makeup artist either but people don't go crazy (well okay some do) when you talk about makeup... As you said "sheesh" can't people just see it for what it is and hae fun.
You'e definitely inspired me to get a Diana camera, and when you said it can be used as a polaroid I think I HAVE TO :)

I'm a photographer, and I appreciate your videos. I think it's great for someone who is an amateur to teach others the basics; sometimes it's a bit easier, because you're used to using layman's terms.
And just FYI, you only have to worry about your film going through the airport x-ray scanner if it's 800 ISO or higher (which are all professional films, so you won't have a problem).

I am buying one of these ligit Picking one now since I heard u talk about it first I have been saving up. In dollars it sounded quite cheap but I thought it would be more in the uk but actually they are pretty reasnobal for an on trend camera that you can do lots with . I have been looking at "vintage" looking cameras for a while and the cheapest ones I hve found are in th thousands! Anywho thanks elle xxx

heey i love these videos! im thinking about getting one of these, i love old cameras and the effects they give but i dont know much about them. i was just wondering when you say this is a toy camera what do you mean? like is this just a camera for kids haha sorry if i sound dumb but im just not sure what you mean. x

@Rubealicious it is called a toy camera because it is made entirely out of plastic, even the lens. the cheap plastic means more light leaks which is what makes the photos look vintage.

I used to be super worried about film going through airports too actually, but I just wanted to say in my personal experience my film was fine going directly through the xray scanner. I had probably 6-10 rolls go through 4-5 different xrays and they all were fine. You never know though!

Honestly, it upsets me that you have to defend yourself on this hobby and the camera you chose. I bet half these "photographers" who are commenting aren't photographers, they're probably people who bought an SLR and think that makes them a professional photographer. I am, a photographer, semi pro, with training and regular paid jobs. I admire your interest in this art form. If you love it do it. I personally really want a lomo , ESPECIALLY after seeing your videos on them! let us see pics pls!

WHY ARE YOU EXPLAINING YOURSELF? You don't have to explain to ANYONE why you like something or why you do photography. Photography is not just a profession it is an art and pretty much everyone likes some sort of photography. It's part of life. People are so stupid if they are telling you what you can and cannot like! Anyone has a right to talk about something that interests them regardless of their experience level. To save time you should get an older boyfriend with alot of stuff and ask him questions about all of it, and ask him about your stuff too. You'll learn more. And try Koni Omega, or Omega Rapid, in 120 film from Ebay. Old wedding cameras. Do you want to have a baby?

It's not really a "toy" camera. Pros used to use them for soft focus pictures. Film photography is 100% out if you asked me. I use digital and have a Nikon D1 & D1H. Hard and heavy to use. I also have a Sony Bloggie 8GB w/usb which also erases pictures easily and videos.

@ChorChar Well I'll be honest and say and still haven't got the film developed yet even though I have had it nearly a year. But I must say I have never had a problem with advancing the film. It seems to stop on its own when advanced enought xx

I've been thinking of getting one of these cameras since you first mentioned it Elle! Thanks for the more in depth review. I've also been told that it's best to keep your film in your carry on. The x-ray machines at the airport won't ruin it, but keep it out of your checked bags. The machines that they put the checked luggage through are stronger and could ruin it.
