I was priviledged to be there also and am so glad you recorded and posted this for all guitar lovers everywhere to enjoy. The old guard passing the baton, or pick, on to the next generation. Thanks
bad sound doesnt matter, bad camera doesnt matter. coffing and people infront of camera doesnt matter. this is historical event and im glad i got the chance to see it. thank you for posting this FEEL-GOOD-CLIP:)
Thanks for posting. I was fortunate enough to be there too. You could cut the historical significance with a knife, soo many folks there were talking about what just happened.
I love the way Chet keeps looking at Tommy as a proud father, as Tommy does to Chet for approval. Such mutual respect and admiration between these fine musicians, Arthur being no exception. I feel humbled and so very jealous that you got to experience this. In turn, all the finger picking fans on YT are lucky you posted. You're helping sway the balance of chaff and tripe on YT in favour of pure class. If you have more treasures, please share 'em out. Brilliant!
It looks like a "best you could do with circumstances video"...and it was FINE!!! I discovered Chet and Merle in 64' ( I was 17 pickin' Ventures, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry stuff ), and Tommy 'bout 10 yrs ago. Chet immediatley became my biggest influence and will always be!!!! Such a wonderful human being...THANK YOU !!!!
It's great to see Chet MC-ing these parts of CAAS. I knew he met fans at CAAS but I was not aware that he "hosted" any parts of it from the stage. TE still speaks of meeting and playing with Arthur Smith and "Guitar Boogie" is his biggest Youtube draw to date which underlines the historical value of this post. I agree with the other guys: " :D" and "awesome" . Keep 'em coming!
@klavier1us Thanks for commenting. I didn't know Tommy talked about playing with Arthur. I would be interested in what had to say. Chet always played the final concert at CAAS but this year Tommy started taking over the bulk of his duties. Chet and Tommy did get to play a couple of songs together, which I have on tape. Chet was in poor health at this time so he participated as much as he could. I lament the fact that I didn't tape previous years. So many great performances lost forever...
@Manxcatstales he talks about this event in one of his guitar boogie clips, i think it´s the one at center stage,, in which he tells a funny story and then plays it, it´s the 7:00 min (or so) version, where he is wearing a black suit and goofing around and rocking it big time.
Awesome clip! No apologies necessary.. thanks for the post!

Great to see and hear this - but oh so sad to see Chet looking so frail.
3 of the greats on one stage - you're right. It was important to upload this. Thanks.
