  • im glad i was able to watch these awesome movies as a kid

  • Why is everybody all mad about how the T-Rex is done wrong?

Was it even advertised as a T-Rex?

Did the dinosaurs say "Oh no! A T-Rex!" did the announcer in the orchestra say it was a T-Rex?

Sure maybe the Disney artists thought it was and meant it to be, but no one said anything... so let's just call it however it looks and enjoy the animation! :D

  • that poor dinosaur, the way he walks and the faces he makes reminds me of my dog

  • And I'm also sure that Tyrannosaurus did not live at the same time Stegosaurus did.

  • i remeber i watch these like 100 times and i was ssad ach times ..

  • Like this VIDEO (Not the comment!!!) for the stegosaurus to win!

  • Maybe next time the stegosaurus will actually win...?

ONE M 0:01 RE TIME PLZ!!!

  • I always wanted the guy with the pointy tail to win haha :P xx

  • Either an Allosaurus or a Torvosaurus. Leaning toward Allosaurus.

  • That is SO not a T-Rex. I mean, a tyrannosaurus has 2 claws on each arm correct? Just look at the arms of this 1 & U will know that it's an Allosaurus or wutever.

  • And I'm 14 years old.

  • The tyrannosaurus doesn't freak me out at all.

  • o.O i'm watching this coz i wanna draw pics of stuff my nephew and niece love for xmas, and apparently my 1 and 1/2 year old niece likes that T-REX!! o.O what the?

  • I always thought that part of the Rite Of Spring sequence was interesting. But man, the T-rex is cruel! :I

  • Man... That T-Rex sure is scary looking... long, sharp, bared teeth... blood red eyes. And coupled with that super dramatic music. I wonder why it never frightened me as a kid. Maybe it was because it was a cartoon and I new T-Rexes were predators and supposed to be scary. It any case Disney is the master of drama.

  • This scene didn't freak me out when I was 7, but now, 13 years later, this and the part where the brontosaurus disappears in the sandstorm scares the ever-living shit outta me! D:

  • Run Steggy Run!!!

  • When I was a kid I wanted to hug the t-rex

  • i was a little boy.... about 9 or 10 when i watched this.. and its a pitty that these kind of cartoons were never seen around today.. !!

    i can be happy

  • This scared the crap out of me when I was a kid...

  • It's really weird, because I remember watching this when I was like, 3, and I wasn't phased by it at all. I understood that the Stegosaurus died, but I was like, "Oh, dinosaur go bye-bye nao :3" or something. It's weird how my toddler mind could tolerate stuff like this. No wonder I'm so dark... o_O

  • Yeah well.I'm 22 and the whole dinosaur portion of Fantasia still freaks me out. And I love dinosaurs!

  • 0:10 the coming of Sephiroth...

  • @Ichigi000 hahahaha I wonder how many people actually got your comment (FF7 ftw)

  • @Ichigi000

i haven't thought of that before but now since you mentioned it and i listened to it closely........it does remind one that Sephiroth is coming.....

  • @Ichigi000 quit ruining a work of genius with your shitty Japanese video games

  • Probably my first dinosaur clash, and still one of my favorites.

  • This T-rex still freaks me out -.-

    And yeaah, im 15.

  • fatties die first.

  • STEGOSAURUS!!! NOM NOM NOM!

  • STEGOSAURUS!!! NOM NOM NOM!

  • run chubs you can do it!!!!

  • When I was little I use to watch this part again and again hoping the stegosaurus would win. It never did. XD Which made me sad.

  • @124VAM

when I was little I would always go hide XD

  • First time seeing this. Hard to believe it was from 1940. I feel sorry for that Stegosaurus. This fight actually reminds me of the battle between Littlefoot's Mother and the Original T-Rex. This Stegosaurus whacked that T-Rex three times with a spiked tail in the face and yet, it seemed to do almost no damage. Similarly, Littlefoot's mom whipped her opponent twice with the full force of her tail and yet the T-Rex was hardly fazed.

  • Hannah Montana sucked the magic right out of Disney like a Dyson vacuum cleaner...

  • @noelnthaly lol

  • Those other dinosaurs are frikken cowards. They could have teamed up with the stegosaurus and kicked the allosaurus's ass. But they thought more about getting eaten then helping out.

  • @Eddrules139 I kinda agree and kinda disagree at the same time... in the movie Dinosaur the 3D one, they teamed up at the end to finally get rid of that big Rex... I guess your right though... idk lol im not into dinosaurs lol

  • I saw this when I was 3,this part still scares me & I'm 12. The least they couldv'e done in this scene would be blood. Disney really annoys me sometimes,I'm not asking for kill kill blood blood blood like in Watership down it's just, they CENSOR everything! It's cheesey for them to show fighting but no blood,am I right?

  • @2002tiif Disney... the way I picture it, isnt really a blood type, but it does show some appropriate violence most ages can see. If it was a little more bloody, i probably wouldnt like it so much since even people way younger than 12 watch nice classics like these. I'm fine with it, the no blood and all, the parents wouldnt really much agree for there kids to watch blood type disney.. but yea i see your point its not as bloody isnt it.. they couldve shown like... a puddle from under him or so..

  • @Heylilvelvet YES!

  • @2002tiif rofl whats the YES! for? xD

  • @Heylilvelvet Finally,someone agrees with me.

  • @2002tiif Oh hha of course i agree xD it COULD have shown at least SOME blood from a fighting scene like this. Like at least some puddles or something when the Steg gets defeated. It would look a lot better. Cuz its not like they dont have any blood they DO! lol

  • I tried... i really tried to watch it again now.. i watched 4 seconds before i closed the vid! X_X *scary shit!!!*

  • THIS wa the scariest part when I watched it as a kid. I still can't watch it, i'm not joking!! It's not just scary.. i can't describe it, it's like looking terror in the eyes. OMG I remember the feeling I got each time I was watching it when the heads of all the dinosaurs turned quickly and there was the T-REX. ta-dah!! *shits pants*

  • INTERGALACTIC PLANETARY, PLANETARY INTERGALACTIC!

  • I Love this scene it used to scare every time I would watch I would pretend to be scared

  • Call me weird, but seeing stuff like this and other dinosaur films when I was little somehow convinced me that the T-Rex was a vicious killer that did nothing but kill and eat other dinosaurs. When I got older, the idea of T-Rex's breeding and caring for offspring seemed strange to me. I blame the b-movies of the old days.

  • It really had to suck being a Dinosaur living at the time of T-Rex...just imagine it being dark, pitch black... raining... noises all around you an right when you turn around all you see is a giant mouth with this huge teeth coming at you.

Disney did a good job with this.... Love T-Rex... sucks to be the Steg though

  • 2:16 video: 1940 animated film Fantasia segment with music The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky; lead animator for climatic dinosaur fight was Wolfgang Reitherman (June 26, 1909 – May 22, 1985).

  • Everything Disney did before was gamble when he did movies like this, it was a lost for them. So nowdays the company owners is more for things that can earn commercial money for them as so low price as possible and to be cheep safe they think that keeping to modern standard humor like in Funniest Home video they are sadly not gonna get a guy to make a really beautiful art of movie like this one soon. I hope they will start making movies, 2D, 3D, live action anything that can be good.

  • O.o And disney made this? Geeze; that was terrifying!

  • @FR3DKRU3G3R Appropriate for kids and almost all ages though :) i love all the old disney :D

  • 0:42 Battle!

  • aww man i feel so bad now..... bunch of fucking cowards in the bushes there hiding.... shoulda tag teamed him...

  • DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY !!!!

  • F*ck Edward and Jacob, this is T Rex vs Steg!!

I'm personally Team Steg. I think there's power in patience :)

  • I notic something really weard when I wached this as a little girl I wasen't really afraide of the Te-rex at all (It was Chernabog that scared me the most) Maybe it was my facanation of Dinosors or Land Before Time I doun't really know.

  • Sadly, it's an Allosaurus and not a T-Rex...had to play the part of the Nerd here. Quick way to tell, three fingers and a more upright stance with a shorter tail. :D Plus the skull structure is all wrong.

  • @Gu1tarGuy18

Actually no, Walt Disney Said That the T rex looked better this way.

  • @Gu1tarGuy18 To be fair, its skull is wrong for an Allosaurus as well. ;p Stego is wrong too. And others. Really, I think the animators mostly just doing a generic evil meat-eating dinosaur.

  • @Velox415 it is a very old movie, from 1940,people didn`t know about dinosaurs as much as we know today.most of these dinosaurs(and other reptiles like dimetrodon)lived in different time and place, but in most movies, even some new, they are all shown living together.

  • I hated this part of the film when i was 6 or 7 because i knew getting whacked by that tail of the Stegosaurus even once or twice would've killed that T-rex. Lol Stegosaurus is my favorite Dinosaur so much so I had to come up with a reason why he should've lived. Ty for the upload and the memories.

  • at 1:24 and 1:42 it sounds as though the people are happy that the Stegosaurus died.

  • Stravinsky is amazing. Nobuo Uematsu stated that Stravinsky (I'm guessing it was this very composition) was his main inspiration when he composed One Winged Angel.

  • I love Fantasia, and I love the Rite of Spring story

That Fight scene was the most Epic thing Walt Disney had ever done

  • Brings a tear to my eye, i used to love this extract from Fantasia when i was a 4yr old, how time flies.

  • Yeah, that's the greater anime movie ever realized ! But the Beast is an allosaurus, I think ... It got 3 fingers in its hand. T - rex had only 2 ...

  • @hpl00064 jes buth in the 1940`s thay did not know that

  • This video + One Winged Angel = GREATEST SYNC EVER.

  • @alehizzle lol yeah you have heard some sephiroth there too right?

  • At 1:31 if you look closely at the tyannosaurs' teeth it looks like they is some blood from the stegosaurs.

  • there's something hilarious to me about "if we hold on together" from the land before time being the first recommended video.

  • I did a report on Stravinsky for school just so I could show this scene. :)

  • Man, FUCK that T-rex! Made me shit many a brick when I was a child. :C I used to feel so sorry for Sir Stego...WHAT'D HE EVER DO TO YOU BESIDES BE TASTY, YOU EVIL LIZARD D':

  • @meowkie The T-Rex kicked ass! If you really want to see something that can actually make you shit bricks and paralyze you in fear, I recommend you watch "Night on Bald Mountain."

  • @patrickc1193 I've seen the entire movie many times -- the rite of spring segment is the one that terrified me though.

  • @patrickc1193 that night on bald mountain scene was the first movie sequence i can remember that scared me

  • @meowkie It was a T. rex? :s I always thought it was supposed to be an Allosaurus, but it makes for its size to be a T. rex. But why is there a Dimetrodon there?! This thing confused the hell out of me as a child. But I loved the meat-eaters anyways.

  • @meowkie

I feel you... my mom says that when I was a kid I refused to eat boiled carrots because they reminded me of this specific T-Rex's eyes. Go figure...?

Though, he is quite the scary animation by today's standards...

  • this was always my favorite

  • damn walt disney

he made many mistakes in this cartoon

  • The Dinosaur scenes were the only parts of Fantasia I actually injoyed. I used to rewind it over and over again.

I wish I could animate like that. Except I would actually be professional and give the Tyrannosaur only TWO fingers. -_-

  • @ThePeregrinestar Good ol' Walt that he was actually decided to draw the T. Rex with three fingers instead, stating 'It looked better that way'. Hey why argue it wasn't incredibly accurate anyway it was the spectacle of illustrating the music more than most other things.

And me too! Being a lover of all things Dinosaurs, I used to rewind the Rite of Spring section over and over again, sharing feelings of fear but awe with this scene. Even today I hold it as so influential to me.

  • This scared the shit out of me as a kid.

  • Wolfgang reitherman aka woolie reitherman did a great job

  • When I was younger, I used to run around my house and pretend I was the T-Rex at this part.

  • Disney needs to make their movies more like this.

  • They won't.

  • @patrickc1193 i know right!? I LOVE animation like this! It's so wonderful and it like.. shows you alot of realistic things even though the animation isnt really as realistic itself its just amazing! I heard its slowly coming back the more people show how much they love all the old disney stuff :)
