If you're interested in ecofriendly, i recently ran into ultra capacitors as a replacement for battery technology. Capacitors do NOT have to be replaced over time, the newest types are just as powerful as the strongest batteries, and they're less damaging to the environment to produce. That row of batteries you show in the vid is one big pile of toxic chemicals, mate.
