Interesting how the recording device levels the field- it makes the small voices large, but it thereby makes it impossible to recognize the truly large voices. Radvanovsky suffers in that process. In the theater it is amazing how large yet effortless and beautiful her voice sounds. It seems she just opens her mouth and the theater, no matter how spacious, is filled as though the sound is a built-in part of the hall. Recordings don't convey that magnificience. Try to hear her in person.

I get the impression that some of the commentators on this channel are almost willing her to be as great as Callas / Caballe etc ?? .. such is the beauty and control in Radvanovsky's performance. I have to say that most of the clips on youtube don;t quite catch the dramatic characterisation she can achieve in performance... to my mind she certainly is a great singer...

Exquisitely sung. In contrast with other recent clips on this channel, here she finally seems to identify with the character. She gives just the right amount of emphasis on "sì, sì, ci voglio andare" and "ma per buttarmi in Arno." Brava!
