Im with Cyrus on this one....FULL PRICE.

i paid matinee for it...saw it solo, and felt my friends should give it a shot so i used a free-pass when we all got together and like 6 of us went....SOMEHOW i was pretty much the only 1 who really liked it.

They seemed to laugh at a bunch of parts out loud...but i think they kept hoping for more comedy, almost like punishing themselves by not focusing on the characters..just waiting for jokes.

after 2 viewings i STILL loved it. very smart film.

It felt like it was trying to be Superbad 2.

This movie was AMAZING.

It wasn't trying to be a wacky comedy, it was the production company that made the trailer look like a comedy to bank on Superbad.

The movie was more of a coming of age dramedy, and a major throw back to the John Hughes ( and others) movies of the 80's.

It did EXTREMELY well at what it was trying to do.

If you don't like more serious type movies then it's not for you, But this is by no means a bad movie. It even has a 88% rating on RT.

I finally saw this, and it was OK (better than numerous recent teen coming-of-age movies). It could have used more "oomph" or inspiration, but its biggest fault was not truly capturing the feel of 1987. Simply having people wearing 80s clothing and playing hits from around 1986 isn't enough to capturing that time period. It was strange that the side characters felt more 1980s than the main characters. The mains didn't speak at all as people did during that time. That hurts the movie.

Just saw it today. Despite the blandness, I thought the characters were masterfully created and fleshed out to be like regular people. We all know somebody just like one of these characters. I look forward to seeing more movies by thisguy, but maybe having some male protagonists that have got a little more scrap in them. That's my one complaint with this guys movies. Where's the violent kid? There's always a fighter in every group of friends.

Just watched this shit. I was expecting a comedy, as it was marketed(the scenes in the trailer, directed by the guy that did superbad, and then you have Ryan Reynolds in it) , but got a ????? drama I guess. How can you have Ryan Reynolds in a movie and not give him one fucking joke? Then it was rated R. The only reason its even rated R is because they kept using the word fuck(the only curse word really) and smoked weed. other then that could have been PG-13.

I honestly hated this movie, I despised the characters, I mean you basically have the nerd aspiring to get a girl (who is basically a whore who's dating two different guys) and all of his druggie friends. Took me a while to figure out what the point of the story even was. I was even trying to figure out what KIND of movie it was, comedy, romantic comedy or what. It starts out he's trying to raise money, then he wants the girl and by that point I'd lost interest.
