I'm surprised that many people said Pertwee was their favorite Doctor, I would have expected at least the Punks to say Tom Baker being that he was the bohemian who was the most anti-Conformity and anti-Authority. He was/is naturally eccentric and generally has never cared what others thought of him. Just thought they would be able to relate to his Doctor the most. I do. That's why he is my fave besides all the other obvious reasons(image, voice, humor, jellybabies, etc..etc..). His stories too!
@MetalheadJay78 No Doubt. Tom Baker is the quintessential Dr. Who. He had the most dimensionality to his character. He could be technically accute, silly, deadly serious, fearless, clumsey, absent minded, spontaneous, confident, gregarious and rebellious. I loved the way he was often so flippant, condescending and sarcastic to his arch rivals. I don't understand why people think that a renegade like Dr Who needs to have such an oversensitive, vulnerable trembling side (like Tom's successor).

@sirtinycreep Don't forget the lack of atmosphere and intimacy in the modern series. The only aspects that are better now are the special effects and production values but those are irrelevant because there are much more important things when it comes to "Doctor Who". Story, acting, atmosphere, witty humor, and how a scene is set up(lighting, camera angles, etc..etc..). Classic Who(especially the Tom Baker era) had all that. Substance! "Modern Who" is just a visual soap opera for teen girls!

Jon Pertwee, a great Dr Who from Dr Who's heyday.
Dr Who is a pile of sh** now. The acting's crap and the writing sucks.
